I remember when my mom would tell me about Pearl Harbor ... and I could never believe that it could happen to us ...and I endured the JFK/MLK/RFK assassinations ... and I could never believe that it could happen to us ...and I watched the 9/11 tragedies ... and I could never believe that it could happen to us ...evil does occur...somehow this nation perseveres... and it has again... Beach Boys ...OMG the best ever...they added John Stamos (remember him?)...a fun, energetic, fantastic night... the peops reeled and rocked... The worst time ever to go into a slump...the Pads sunk to knew depths last night against the Giants at home...1-0 loss...it's now a 22 game season for the crown...and the Rockies are in a storm...steam rolling through everyone....hang on...it's a great race...and get this...who ever comes out of the west, gets to the World Series... It's the collegiate football time...the Ducks at Tennessee ...and I get to see it here...

I like what the Prez says...it's a tough time and I love his demeanor... The Padres lose the 1st game of 4 to the Giants ...ouch... Sheryl Crow was OK...a new band, that seemed bored...the people loved her... The line last night was 4 1/2 favoring the Saints ...and they won by 5...wow, I just don't know how they do it... The Ducks at Tennessee ...not the easiest of games...strap it on... New Mexico , fresh off a 72 point drubbing, are only 23 point dogs to Texas Tech...what? The mighty Wolves (OCE) are traveling to Sac St...who just got beat by Stanford, yes, that Stanford...who makes the schedule for Sac St? The Rockies are absolutely on fire... The foo from Florida, the Pastor , is just that... Why can't there be trolleys everywhere? The world basketball classic...the US of A looks to be the tops...thanks to Coach K... I was stopped yesterday and asked if I was Jewish , and we are celebrating the Jewish New Year...flattered?  Italian, maybe... Big Bro ...

Tonight it is the Sheryl Crow concert at Humphrey's ....soak up the sun...really looking forward to this...big day otherwise...the wall unit is to be delivered and installed...the overhaul of the pipes...the turntable hooked up...the sound bar adjusted...just all good stuff... The Padres swept the Dodgers ...couldn't see that coming...strong pitching and timely hitting...sounds familiar, huh...coupled with the Giants getting beat in the desert...back to 2 games up...and now SF rolls in for a 4 game set...starts this eve... And... the NFL kicks off in New Orleans ... Viks and the Saints ...line is 4 1/2 for the home team...is that all?  Just doesn't seem like...what do the odds guys know? Did you watch your Big Bro ?  Down to the Brigade for your winner...figure it will be Hayden... The foo from Orlando that is going to burn the Quran has the entire Muslim world going crazy...the press gets a piece of this for giving it any air time... Happy birthday to my ve...

I know, I usually preach about the good life of sports ...but, there is an issue that is coming out of Orlando ...this pastor has to make the airwaves somehow...so to "honor" the 9/11 disaster...he believes that he and his followers should burn the Quran ...it is a vision of his to right a wrong, I suppose...correct me here...aren't all religions a freedom of speech?  Believe what you want...there's interpretation abundant everywhere when it comes to the Bible ...Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Episcopalians, on and on, have their own take...does that make them wrong?  To others?  As the Quran is to many from that faith, their interpretation waffles as well...but to think that the elimination of the book is the answer is, well, absurd...and self serving... OK, back to sport....the Padres win their 2nd straight and cling to a one game lead in the west...the closers are hanging tough and there is going to be great games coming up...especially this weekend with the G...

Have you caught the "Hard Knocks" on HBO ?  It's a daily grind of the New York Jets in pre-season...outside of the language...like you've never heard it...is absolutely spell binding...that is, if you like pro football...I tuned in 'cuz of LT going there...and it is so much more...fastest hour on the tube... give it a try ... Finally...finally...finally...the Pads break their loss string...with a narrow V over the Dodgers ...I really thought when it would happen we would score a huge amount of runs...still in first and well...what a relief...did it with a plethora of pitchers, as our number one guy, Latos , took ill...crowd noise was pretty good...even though it was against LA ... go figure ... Winning the latest leg of the PGA playoffs was this feller from Poway , Charley Hoffman (no relation)...he sports the Khalil Greene look, and is soooo distinctive.... Lefty blew up, and Tiger showed promise...and today the PGA announces their pix for the Ryder ...

Wait, it's just not the end of the world ...you're in a deep losing streak...it just takes a few hits here and there....getting a few more strikes and all...but the nature of sport ...for everyone...when it goes south, you press...happens to me all the time when I golf...when I'm on, it seems so easy...when I'm not, it can be so frustrating ...and that's what the mighty Pads are in...the bloody piranha of negativity ...and it looks like all you Orygun haters are loving the moment ... Hey, you have to do it... schedule a patsy to pad your winning record...and get yourself bowl eligible...and get your fan base all hopped up...so if you look at so many of the 1st games of most all the power house teams...just look at these... Nichols St (SDS) lost by 47... San Jose St. (Alabama) lost by 45... Marshall (Ohio St.) lost by 38... Eastern Illinois (Iowa) lost by 30... New Mexico (Oregon) lost by 72 (told you)... Florida A & M (Miami) lost by 45... Samford (Florida St.) lost by 53... La-Lafayette (Georgia) lost by 48... OK, you get my drift...those who got bumped included Ol Miss with Massoli at the helm, upset by Jacksonville St...(what?)...ugly win by USC over Hawaii ... The Beavs ...first of all, TCU is good...power line that totally controlled the game...my concern is that the defense can't stop that Duck type O...get back to practice and figure it out...
