Devastation

Image
I'm starting with the wild fires .. .the depth of destruction unparalleled in the past century, perhaps longer...in the west...for the most part, going unchecked...one chilling headline as a 'massive lethal firestorm' ...the most devastating ones, as there are many...are just north of San Francisco, termed the largest EVER in California...and burning the entire length of the Willamette Valley of the great state of Oregon...I am not privy of those further up the I-5 in Washington ... Does it bother me, that the current inhabitant of the White House ...spends all his time campaigning , and nary a moment to get out and work the scene?...or, even say or do something that would help, in ANY WAY?...of course...no, he just gets in his plane, and goes to where HIS votes may be ...he must think that North Carolina is winnable...as he has sent his total fam there to blab...Jr, Erik, and Ivanka...from the 'can't make this stuff up files' ... Jr , when queried abou...

9/11

Image
One of those moments in time...that we shall never forget...the destruction of USA, in substance and in the psyche...by a sinister plot using passenger airplanes...we were caught, with our guard down...for whatever reasons...it happened...much like Pearl Harbor...these things don't happen to us...9/11/01... It's like when JFK was shot, we can recall where we were, what we were doing...the same for this...we were in Sunriver at our condo...had just dropped off our son in college...Pomona, in Claremont, Cali...woke up early and were watching the tele...shocked and in despair...what was going on?...nobody knew...as it unraveled...we promptly packed up and hurried home...hunkered down...and waited...and watched...saddened and truly, a bit afraid of what was next... We were in NYC, just a week or so before all this happened...as Cris was looking, or previewing dental schools...it could have been us on those planes...I'm sure you have stories, too...the loss of lives was devastat...

As We Know It

Image
Is there any good news?... the wild fires are absolutely DEVASTATING , up and down the west coast of our beautiful country...I recall, on a bike trip down a central Oregon mountain...the guide telling us that the fires were Mother Nature's way of cleaning things up...whoever Mother Nature is... not really a believer in that story, or reasoning... Back in the days of our early life... the Santiam Pass was an essential ...the Little North Fork...Detroit Lake...the stops at the little restaurants...as we are told, they are all gone...burned down...we thought, that if there was to be FIRES , they were to be on the other side of the mountain...has this happened before?...don't think so... As I have said, 'up and down' the west coast ...so many of the mountains ranges, have flare ups, right now...of course, our RV trip is in peril, too...Yosemite Park being the ultimate destination...a very emphatic 'we'll see' is the thought... Last eve, like so many things t...

Wack Wednesday

Image
I have so much to say this, Wack Wednesday! ...from the depths of despair, of the fires throughout the west coast...to the elation of the mighty Padres, as they near the top of the league...and I am not just talking the division...to the Lakers showing playoff hustle...to the bizarre world of our politics...and ending up in a most disturbing look at the judicial system that governs us all... Unfortunately, I awakened too late to do the blog...the early tee time beckons moi...not sure if I will write after I get home, or wait until tomorrow...depends...but this can't wait...he actually got himself nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize!?...have they seen the shambles in the USA?...peace?...OMG!...and you who are readers, take your pick of the books by Huckabee Sanders and Cohen...180* apart...I watched them both on the pixels yesterday...one of them is extremely believable... I have to git...but, I am torn for the plight my fellow Oregonians in the Willamette Valley...what they are goi...

A Cool $15 Million

Image
Like in $15 MILLION BUCKS! ... Dustin Johnson (DJ) won the 'season ending' Fed Ex Cup , on the PGA Tour...his prize dough, was off the charts...well now, this pandemic year has thrown us all for rescheduling nitemares...er, nightmares...3 (maybe 2) of the majors have yet to be played...so, the 'season ending' part of the title is extremely misleading... I believe, if DJ didn't have the lead given to him, Xander would have won, right?. ..only counting this T...odd stuff... did the caddie (his bro) get 10% of the loot?. .. The mighty Padres returned home to take on the Rockies.. .the game was a pitcher's duel...nil-nil thru eight. ..in our half of the 9th, pinch hitter Greg Garcia , singled to left... Jorge Mateo , came in to run for Garcia...and Jurickson Profar doubled to right, as Mateo scored all the way from 1st...VOILA! game winner...Mateo has out of sight speed...our SP Lamet was masterful, with 11 K's...however, our 1B, Eric Hosmer, broke his fin...

Labor Day

Image
We take the day off ...you know where I am on this...back in time, my last respite of leisure before the onslaught of students...ha ha... a visit to the Oregon State Fair, for Scones, a pronto pup, some curly fries, yes, perhaps, a peek at the huge fish that was there, really, a saunter in the building that vendors were selling things like a knife that would cut ANYTHING, gawking at others, who were doing the same as me...take in a concert...then, a spot at the horse races...for a last hurrah... now THIS was Labor Day for moi!... In actuality , well, that was real, too...but the day actually was first held in New York City in 1883...?...some say, 1882 ...whatever...a labor movement thang... the first state to ratify it and make it a holiday?. ..none other than Oregon ...how about them apples?...the orchestrator was said to be Peter McGuire...others said it was Michael McGuire ...the inception appears to be fuzzy...but whatever, it stuck...and we still celebrate it in 2020...wonde...

It Was One Year Ago Today

Image
Seems like only yesterday, our trip to the Grand Canyon ...it was a year ago, today...couple that with the trip to get there...via the Route 66 ...if you haven't, it is a journey into yesteryear...the burgers and shakes of an era that was filled with happy music...yes, I do mix the sounds of the 50's and 60's often in me blog...guess it is a trait...hang in there, with my only quirk...just kidding...that, with my mangling of the English language... an indirect battle with Orange , on who is worse...could be his ONLY win this year. ..I digress... Am I wrong about this?...I believe that one must keep politics out of education ...hmmm, as to whether or not...to open up schools...to benefit one's election possibilities...the grouping of kids, students, shoot, a grouping of any amount of people...until there is a vaccine for Covid, is a huge mistake...a blunder of epic proportions!...and if and when they get infected...do they go home?...stay in the school?...isolated how?....
