Great Northwest

Image
It's supposed to be so calm and hot during this time of the year in the great northwest...well... thunder and lightning yesterday here...what?...I guess it was nature telling me that there is no perfect place on earth...those around here think this is THE PLACE... anyhoo, we went to a 30 year reunion last night...kind of hard trying to pick out some faces...but it was fun and really enjoyed the evening... I met some people who actually READ this blog and need their San Diego fix... so cool... What's happening back in the Padre world?  Trades...wow... picked up a real SS...in Miguel Tejada ...rough start for him last night, but overall, it will be a great pick...and today, they picked up Ryan Ludwick from the Cards...sooooo, the Pads blew a game to the Marlins last night...stop that and win, just win, baby... is there a pitcher trade in the works?  And Don , the cars keep turning left until they see the checkered flag... bang, crash, thump...are you happy? Reunion nu...

Round 2...The Hairstons

Image
The Padres garnered game number two, with a decisive win over the hated Dodgers ...hitting stars were the Hairston Bros ...the pitching was great, led by Clayton Richards (w) and the pen... Frieri , Thatcher , Gregersen , and Stauffer ... Mgr. Black must have read my blog, as he went righty on righty and lefty on lefty, not like he did the day before...by the way,  40,100 at the game, and 75% for the good guys ...definitely a change in scenery here...it is just so cool... Random MLB stuff ...it is awesome to see Jed Lowrie back up and running for the Red Sox...his bout with mono finally over...the Giants are hanging around...their series with the Dodgers this weekend will be a tell tale sign... ARod stuck at 599, kinda funny really...your bro Kooz back to his woeful hitting with men on base... Strasberg scratched cuz of stiffness in his throwing side, cause for big alarm...does anyone walk out to the mound slower than Joe Torre ?... Buster Posey is for real...the Oriol...

Round 1....Da Bums

Image
The bloody Dodgers got game one...a 2-0 pitcher dominated (surprise) yawner at Petco... Mgr. Torre outdid Mgr. Black in the crucial scoring zone for LA...as da Bums had 2 guys on, the Pads elected to walk the 8th batter to get to the pitcher... Torre pinch hit for his starter...a lefty hitter in Ethier...so what does Black do?... nothing ...he has lefty killer Gaslamp Thatcher warming up...Ethier gets a 2 run hit... Black then comes out and brings Thatcher in...to face switch hitter Furcal... bah humbug... The lazy play of the Pads star, Adrian Gonzalez .....he is too nonchalant in these big games... jogs on ground balls, swings at bad pitches , chokes on defensive plays...probably his biggest error, was his possible score from 3rd on THE PLAY of the game for the Pads ...instead of hook sliding at the plate on an errant throw from the 2nd baseman...he lazily slides straight into the tag ....the only way he would be out...9 out of 10 big leaguers would have scored on th...

Just another series

Image
Fresh off a 3 game sweep in Pitt , the high flying Padres get a much needed day of rest...before... the biggest series of this season ...with the hated Dodgers of Chavez Ravine...and there is a whole lot of LA lovers who live down here...it's a mixed bag of emotions that erupt...I've told you before, the Latinos lurve the Dodgers ...anyhoo, the Pads are saying it's just another series, another game...ha, ha ....they know...hot bats by Denorfia and Toreiaba have fueled a much different team than the LA nine have seen... very interesting... I'm not sure how I feel about all these golf tourneys that have no "stars" competing...where are they getting their corporate money to fund them?  Especially when the big names skip a bunch of the events?  Really, a very lackluster field in Canada for their Open...where Karl Petterson won.. who?... Del Mar ...can't believe I have only been there for a short jaunt...yesterday's pick 6, a cool $125 grand ...hey...

Diplomacy

Image
Geez, I'm not a fan of almost every politician ever ...not withstanding our current Prez ...but, the most difficult political job anywhere...anywhere...is the the Secretary of State one for the US of A...and our current player is Hillary Clinton ...and she is doing a bang up job...now I am guessing...she appears to be a no nonsense type that doesn't back down...I read the last book on the election and sure got a sense of what she was like... a perfect fit for this spot ...with the way part of the rest of the world looks at us, or fears us, she seems to be...used to it...with the condition of her awkward marriage, she has had to stomach all that crap over the years...she has been balancing all these trouble spots so well ...for now...hopes... The Padres ...smashing success at Pitt...ripping out a massive 9 runs in their huge win yesterday as Matt Latos returned...I don't get why the ancient one, Matt Stairs , ever gets a start with the abundance of younger guys we have i...
