CRAZY HORSE

I believe it's been 9 times that ESPN's Game Day has been at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Orygun...that's a bunch...and today they were there again...as the Ducks host the Spartans of Mich St...the dahlings of the East Coast scribes...the line is 12 1/2...and disregarding the betting blokes, a couple of the GD Boyz picked MSU...duh.. Kirk Herbstreit, the OSU (Ohio type) grad, had put the Spartans as one of his top 4 for the season...in his early pix...so, he had to pick 'em...some young dude did, too...the one with a chip on his shoulder...ha ha...the guys on Around The Horn all had the Ducks...it's just guessing, kids...and that's what makes it fun... In reality, iff the Spartans can control the clock and possession of the ball, they have a great chance of the W...some stuff...95* favors speed...and the big kids will suffer...and need breaks...the Duck O gives you none...I see UO winning and covering the spread...usually people worry about the rain in the PN...

I am in... the Seattle Seahawks are all this and that... terrific defense and a solid offense ...and they make good teams look not so good...and the same for the QB's...it is said that the pre-season means nuttin...honey...not in this case...as they showed that not only were they damn tuff, but very deep ...and are better than they were last season...whupped Green Bay bad...sorry, Cheeseheads, but it's true... I spent a goodly portion of my free time (?) yesterday listening and watching the pro football experts talk about the Pack/Hawk game...and finally at about 3 pm decided to bench my numero uno pick of my infamous fantasy football team, the Pack's QB Aaron Rodgers ...not that I didn't try to change back right before kick off and was too late...so there it was, I had him on me bench in lieu of SF's Kaepernak ...we'll see how that move pays off... The Pads ...got hammered by the DBacks for a 2-2 split of their series...and quite frankly, had a turrible ...

The new lineup for DANCING WITH THE STARS was announced today on GMA...ah hem, just what constitutes a STAR? ... I barely knew of any of these blokes and blokettes ...I suppose the real ones, are now the dancers that have surpassed any of the other wannabes....oh well, it is usually a good show...even though they still have the same annoying judges and the screeching sound of the gal  hostess, Erin Andrews...the real host, Tom Bergeron, saves that part of the broadcast... Did you take a look at the line? ... all of them have dropped ...hmmm...not sure I've seen that before... The NFL starts tonight with a bang!... the Pack at the Seahawks ...and it's on regular TV in lieu of the NFL Network....good...cuz I usually forgot about the game when it was there...Seattle by 6...let's hope it's wide open...and further...only two home team dogs in the 1st week, Atlanta and Dallas...hmmm... The races were super fun...the train ride was way cool...and I hit all but 2 of...

It's the final day for this session's horse racing out at Del Mar ...and guess what?...we are going!...and there is this way cool method of getting there...it's called the Pony Express... Travel by the Coaster Train (Amtrak) from downtown to Solana Beach...home of the race track...and then catch a shuttle...the tix includes admission...and Voila!...we are there...saves the problem of driving...as it gets a little crazy going  and coming....let alone the price of parking your rig, $15... The cost for the round trip is $11 each ...so, it's a great deal...and we will inhabit the infield...so some of us (me) can smoke a stogie to boot...we are meeting our amigos, the Allens, there...Pick 5, here I come!... The Pads won again...albeit a walk off...HR...by the newly called up 3B, Cory Spangenberg ...who has had two straight game winner hits...in the only two games he's been here for...let's say it's a bang for him...and a very good thing...thank goodne...

Texting while driving ...are you a violator?...OMG, can't it wait?...I can't tell you how many times I still see it happen...really...every single time I get in the car...as school starts up and kiddies are all over the place, no better time to remind all of the dangers and permanency of the habit... Glee had a tragic episode of this...and had great relevance...and I thought they did it perfectly...a couple of seasons back... What is so amazing is the amount of fines for the act ...which differs greatly from state to state...it's $165 here for the 1st one...in Orygun it's $500...in Alaska it's $10 grand and possible prison time...eegads...go east, and in Arizona, there is no ban...shock... Some things about the new phone are way cool, this part of it...is not...put the bloody thing down while you drive, before you are involved in a bloody mess...and or, your pocket book is a bit lighter... Caught between jobs doesn't mean I can't celebrate Labor Day with all of you...ah yes, the LAST day before school starts...for us teachers, it was the last celebratory day until Thanksgiving...really?...we, just like the kids, had great anxiety and impending...well, you know... It meant for me a last trip to the horse races out at the state fair...a relaxing day with $40 to figure out them nags...and then seeing if I could fit into my dressy type of clothes...and if not, a late dash to Fred Meyer to get something cool to start the year off...I always (well, usually) wore a tie for the 1st day...and then put it away until hoops season... And practiced my lingo...as when somebody said something off color to me, my immediate reaction to it, was fire back some equally disgusting things...you arse, or something like that...instead, I found myself smiling, and saying nuttin...thinking bad things, and yet...staying cool...happened a lot in the first 2 weeks...every year... ...

Yup, I watched a whole lot of them games yesterday...and I have this as MY TAKE ...Pac 12... UCLA ...big time over hype...their D has and will be solid...exceptional LB crew...but, this notion of their QB Hundley as a Heisman possible...naw, no way...happy feet...and they were lucky to get the win... Washington ...survived....SURVIVED!...against the lowly Rainbows of Hawaii...really...17-16...and are in a building (or crash landing) season...new coach...from BSU...we'll see... USC ...a step up I suppose...Fresno St is nowhere close to what they were with Pat Hill...why they made that change is crazy...and the Trojans have some big play guys...jury is out...had an awful week of media attention...next week, Stanford...the truth is then... Stanford ...so solid...the class of the area...for sure...they just reload...can you believe I saw this much?..it's true...only stayed with this one for a half...like USC, a major test ahead...
