College Saturday

One of the games I did not predict is the Florida/Georgia game. As fun as they get. I am a huge fan of Urban Meyers. His innovative style of play has helped change modern college football. SDS and Wyoming battle for the survival of each coach. Both camps are not happy and the loser may be doomed, or voted off the island. If the Beavs and the Trojans win out, the Beavs go to the Rose Bowl. Take that Will Ferrell! The Dux at the Bears is a critical one for the Orygun team. If they pull it off a great bowl game is in their future. The state of Washington: Huskies and Cougars abysmal, the Seahawks about to lose their coach(not to mention most of their games), they lost their NBA Sonics to Oky City..., their MLB Mariners are only better than the Pads, and it rains there all the time!

Halloween Friday

SDS's Long said they had a great week of practice in prep for Wyoming. He's said that before and they have performed like crap. I fear the same ghoulish fate. I have not talked about the scary presidential campaign, but Obama must win this for the good of this country. NBA. The Houston Rockets have all the pieces to be a front runner this year. The bizarre Artest is the type of player I like on my team to get over the top. He is the mash, the monster mash. The Charger's GM, AJ Smith, continues his rant about the underachieving Bolts. He is saying more heads will roll. Let's see, he fired his good buddy, now he is going after his enemies...Get off it AJ and let the team gel now. The Pads must send Towers to the October graveyard. Won't happen and the team is a mess. I was working in the lab late last night...

The Pix

The NBA. The Lakers appeared again like a monster team whupping the new look Clippers. The Suns started well at San Antonio. That Love kid out of Oregon had a nice night for the Wolves with 12 points and 9 boards. Just the beginning for this season. By the way the Blazer's Oden out for 2 to 4 weeks with a foot strain. Ouch! Here goes: 1. Wyoming over SDS, yea right 2. Air Force over Army, the win streak is over for the long grey line 3. Missouri over Baylor, I have to get one right 4. South Carolina over Tennessee, Spurrier... 5. Oklahoma over Nebraska, used to be a classic 6. Oregon over California, more of a wish than reality 7. OSU over ASU, the mighty Erickson falls again to the upstart Beavs, his old team 8. Bears over the Lions, they are bigger animals 9. Dolphins over the Broncos, they can swim better 10. Patriots over the Colts, one for the country

Change...Charger's Style

As I have stated earlier, the Chargers were going to fire one of their coaches in their bye week. Yesterday it happened. Their defensive coordinator, Ted Cottrell, got the axe. As it turned out, he was hired when the head guy, Norv Turner, was hired. He was with the Bills when the GM, AJ Smith, was there, too. The D is ranked last and needed a change. It's a good thing. The Bolts need to be more aggressive and the guy they got, Ron Rivera, will get 'er done. Mark my words...the Chargers are back! The Series debacle may resume tonight. Now to the Lakers/Blazers. First, the good thing. The Lakers are for real. They play great defense and are real active. Their first and their second groups are tough...TOUGH. I will reserve judgment as the first month unfurls, but I think I am going to follow them. 2nd, the bad thing. The Blazers. They were in slow motion. A clear drop in class to the LA squad. Oden hurt his foot and looked extremely slow. Roy was way off any pa...

World Are You Serious?

Baseball can not be played in the horrible conditions they tried to play in last night in Philly. How they let the biggest game of the year go on in that weather was deplorable. Such is MLB. And is it just me, but is the umpiring below standard this year? SDS takes it's circus to Wyoming this weekend for another scary outing. The Aztecs should get a win there, but that's what the home team is thinking, too. No Charger firings so far... Received my Padre re ups for next season. They did not raise the tix prices, but they gave me 'til the 10th to buy in. If they don't trade Peavy by then, we'll see. Now if they fired Towers I'd buy. Not looking too promising as I see it. The Blazers open up at the Lakers this evening. All the talk down here is how good the LA team is with the 2 big guys, Bynum and Gasol, down low, with their ss Kobe running around out front. Hope the Blazers show their hype!

Monday turnaround

The Pix...up to 7 out of 10, with this week's pix tougher games. LT showed but the D did not. With the Chargers having a bye week I see a coach or coaches getting fired. Sorry but it's the truth. Curlin's owner did not like the poly track at SA, but they all ran on the same surface... The Phillies close out the Series tonight behind Hollywood Hamels (from SD)... Are they still playing PGA events? Do miss Tiger. The Dux move back into the top 25 as #23. The Beavs should be there too, receiving only 11 votes. SDS is awful. They have the last ranking rush defense in all of Division 1 football! Seriously! The NBA starts this week and there is a lot of anticipation up in Portland. Let's hope for some early success. Monday always has a turnaround for somebody..but who?

Breeders Redux

51,000 +fans in attendance and sitting in box seats, the Breeders' Cup experience couldn't have been better. Where else can you have a thunderous ovation erupting in the crowd as the governor makes his way to the finishing line? As the favorite horse, Curlin, goes by in the post parade people are cheering as he goes by them. Surreal yet big time in the moment. The weather was perfect and the stage was incredible. People were dressed as if they were at the Derby. I can't wait for the next one. To add to all of that, I hit the upset winner of this grand Classic Cup race, Raven's Pass, for a cool $132...that was the exception rather than the rule. Now to my pigskin pix. I hit 5 out of 7 and was tickled to see the Dux wax the Sun Devils as one of my misses. SDS gave it a good look losing 38-34, a near miss. Did tell you the closeness of the USC game and the Georgia romp in the Bayou...now the NFL... Colorado just gave an extension to their coach...and his Buffaloe...
