LaLa Land

Not sure how the San Diego Symphony is gonna do this...as the theme for the night is 'LaLa Land'...it is the party at the park...well, over at the Bay...where they pay tribute to the film...not sure if I recall any songs from it...oh well, it's in our package, so off we go to see whatever they drum up...

Oh yea, the mean, clean machine of them Padres are in Chavez Ravine for a 3 spot with the Bums...who just are heralded as the best team in MLB right now...deservedly...but...hold de phone...as SD got a W...what?...hit 3 dingers...played excellent D...survived the pitching of Clay Richards...and utilized the 'closing' role of Brad Hand...ah hem, NOT in the 7th...but in his normal spot at the end!...well, he had to finish off the 8th first...a 4 out close...go figure...

Seeking CLOSURE

You ever wonder just WHO is making all the money out there?...as many mall stores shutter their doors...the latest?...JC Penney is on the route...after revamping their style...which gives more and more empty corners and stable ones...GONE!...don't look now, but the chain restaurants are following  the pattern...Applebee's and IHOP's are the ones...they don't produce enough...and they are history...

Happens all the time down here in the GQ...restaurants and bars open...and then 6 months or so...closed up tight...with the dishes, laundry, salt and pepper, everything...in place, just before they walk out...kind of eery...hey, making dough in this society must be real hard...

Hmmm...well some figure the time is ripe...to open up their store...when every one else is either scrambling or seeking finisimo....Ivanka is unveiling hers...of course, in the Trump Tower in NYC...of course...well now, you gots to know someone...ha ha...

Food...when you go out to the grocery store....now, I am assuming that your fav is still there...they are closing them down, too...ya'll have a clue to what type of meat you are buying?...prime, choice, select?...or is there no label at all?...some places have been notorious for dying their product with red coloring...really...here's the scoop...prime?...at Costco and maybe, your meat market...the best and most tender...choice?...most supers have this...be careful, as the date on the package could tell all...if you trust it as true...select?...wooah, near dawg food...really...run, don't walk...and you think the Horse only talks about sports...

Let's go with this...when my wife starting in the realty world many moons ago...it was with a local, very successful business...after a while, it was obvious that the local owner...could make more if he agreed to sell his franchise to a national chain...then...it has been swallowed up by yet another bigger investor...right?...the big keep swallowing up the smaller...my point?...there must not be the money in the Macy's or Appelee's of the US to warrant being chewed up...right?...the very rich think not...

The PGA T...the bigs of the sport are back a bit...'you don't win the tournament the first day, but you could LOSE it'...the players don't say much about the course there in North Carolina...but is has been altered...maybe too much...it is what the PGA does for their major...I have the winner at like 3 or 4 under at the conclusion...where the leaders are right now...one hand on the club and the other on your neck...BTW...that kid Kisner sure seems to be at ease in this T...

NOKO Menace

Morning, kids...the topic of this and the rest of the next few days...is the continuance of the problem child in North Korea...of course, there is the anagram for them...to be used everywhere...NOKO...his deliberate actions throughout the region of the far east...and in particular, South Korea and Japan...has the world on edge...some may say he has a death wish...

The foo...has gone so far as to threaten the US...nothing good will come of this...you know, I wonder who on earth he has around him that advises the guy...or, are they all afraid if they speak up, he will have them killed off?...I reckon the latter...

His aim to lay a missile on Guam has our forces on the ready to go list...let's hope that China can intervene and knock some sense into that foo's tiny, little brain of his...before...it's too late...

The PGA has started up the final 'major'...on yet another extremely long golf course...make 'em longer and narrower...that's the idea...for moi, it should be to use softer balls...to restrict the distance...I dunno...who you got?...my extreme golfing colleague (?) out of El Cajon has been boasting the booming drives of Rory McIlroy and his fetching love of the course, that he has won on prior....maybe so...maybe so...still, I like Jordan and DJ...

On my article yesterday about the pay for play notion in collegiate football...I got a response that was well noted...and right on...I neglected to mention the other part of the quote by the UCLA QB, Rosen...that said in my adjusted words...'something to the fact that it was easier to get into Alabama then other fine schools'...gosh, there are so many implications of that...and one can take it so many ways...

Wallowing about...that's what I think when I see the present day Padres play...anywhere and anyone...not having the equality of players as most other teams...should I make that quality of?...maybe the same...anyway, they are in Ohio getting their butts handed to them...I just can't watch most of it...

Reliving the journey of Princess Di...ABC did a documentary on it...really fascinating...I did not know that at the time of her emergence, that the 'Royal Fam' was under intense scrutiny...people were rebelling in the streets...due to the lack of moneys available to the common man...and yet, the country was propping up their elite...it all changed when she became...the Princess...and oh my, was she NOT prepared for it...

Football For Thought

Just a short little ditty, as I have yet another early tee time...but I will give you fodder for your am...no doubt, the leading spectacle for many of us fans...is college football...shoot, I even watched a rerun last eve of the '10 Civil War game...like for the unknowing...it's the UO/OSU game...ha ha...

One avenue to a college education...is by getting a scholarship...to pay for your schooling...ball + books= diploma...for a small minority of dudes, they also get to move onto to the next level of play, the NFL...here's the rub...D-1 football is big business...huge money...some have said that the players should be able to get a share of the $...as well as getting their degree paid for...

The latest comment on the plight of the game...came from the now QB of the UCLA Bruins...Josh Rosen...who, in essence, said that football and going to school, DON'T MIX!...that many guys have no duty or even, desire to step into a class room...adding more fuel for the pay for play idea...

Odds...let's look at them...only 3 to 4% of high school players move on to college to play...and the % of the collegiates to pro, may be a bit higher...maybe 6%...so, my figures...are that 94% don't make it...so, get that degree and use it wisely...right?...

However, that doesn't address the money made in football at the collegiate level...do YOU think that there should be a sharing of it?...do the players deserve a portion?...you know who does benefit?...the coaches...who are making record numbers of pay...in fact, they are the biggest salaried people on all campuses...hmmm...

Respite

Hey yea all...the Horse is back at it...please excuse me absence...as we had them guests from the Northland...the Snookies...and we were a bit busy and thus...no time to write...at least coherently...and then...I have back to back tee times...so there you go...so I am writing in the afternoon...you may call it an afternoon delight...wait, check that...keep it above board, CH...

There were moments in the past week that there were thoughts of a change in name...as I got a new suncap...with all the rich Mexican heritage down here...Don Pedro was being bantered about...as that was what I may have resembled...but, alas, no...the Horse remains...

BTW, they were fun...and outside of me burning some steaks..."I can burn steaks with the best of 'em"...apparently, my creed...

Sad news...Glen Campbell has passed on...'Rhinestone Cowboy'...actually, he had many hits...back when...he had a Variety Show on CBS...which was a can't miss...why isn't there more of his type of show on the pixels anymore?...

Remember the QB out of SF...on the NFL 49ers?...Colin Kapernik...he was the dude who decided to sit or kneel when the national anthem was played....a protest, I guess...hmmm...now he is a player without a team...some say they (the owners) are blackballing him...won't hire him...too much baggage...or...is his ability not of the level of the league?...speaking of no ability at the level...Johnny Football is teamless, too...and has said he'd like to get into coaching if he can't play anymore...this is the Horse's take...he has to clean up his personal life first...
