Stop me if I have told you of this story before....wait, I know I haven't...it's a true one about my retirement....from the grand state of Oregon ...please, no tears...and, these are all the facts, mam...just the facts... Every state has 'em...public retirement systems... PERS ...and as I am eligible for retiring...after 30 years of teaching...I went through a counseling session with their rep...I guess it would be our PERS rep...here's the catch...and that has been an issue since I left the working force there...it was at the height of money making stocks in the US of A...so, my figure to schedule to live on was at it's height, too...this was the money amount that they told me! ...not that I came up with...OK, it was good, and I left the teaching profession and that was that... PROBLEM! ...as the country went from great to aghast with the stock market nearly crashing, so did the retirement system monies...as they used OUR MONEY to play in the market...of cours...

One of the most ridiculous things that the NFL teams do is put the players through this "big deal" ... the combines ...where they have all these youngsters do a series of measurements...times for this and that...how much they can lift...you know, stuff...so they can put it on their computers, notice I didn't say clipboards, and they rank the blokes...more info, as they have a body of work that these guys went through in college...to me?... waste of time and money ...I'd have them scouted and would have talked to their coaches...then bring them in and interview 'em...that's all I'd need...to me...the most important thing, is the locker room...how they all get along...you know who probably had the worst of all time at these combines?...some gangly QB out of Michigan... Tom Brady ...how'd he turn out?... Had the good fortune to play a round yesterday with another guy named Pete...just so happened he was a former high school hoop coach from this area...

Did you happen to see the end of regulation of the Kansas / Iowa St hoop game?...should be replayed throughout the nation today...as the Jayhawk player drove to the basket and clearly, and I mean clearly, charged...and there was no call...made the shot... play on ...and the game thus went to OT...where Kansas prevailed...the significance?... The way the game is played now...with so many pick and rolls ...and out of control drives to the basket...it is an important piece of the game to have your take charge parts in place...most of the coaches have this in...as does the Iowa St guy... Sometimes, the officials will actually incite the crowd with a gesture of a hand wave of "get up" ...there is no place anywhere for that one...in any rule book for any ref... Here's my deal... the game of basketball has one hidden agenda item ... the longevity of the life of the referees ...as most of these blokes have risen to the top of their game and then... stay there ...coaches, on...

Well... that could be beisbol talk...or it could be the next T bone that Kobe gets...or the next Bachelorette gals ticket... Kobe Bryant ...led the Lake Show to a humiliating loss in Denver...not a place that lurves him much....remember the "incident" with the hotel clerk?...and boos him like no other...I digress...as the Nuggets ran like crazy at LA...so many fast breaks I thought I was watching an old Loyola Marymount tape...geez, they are fun to watch...and Kobe?...got another T bone...and he is two away from an automatic suspension...we should be taking bets on what game he gets the last one in...wait, never, ever bet on the NBA...and...PG Nash looked every bit the 39 years of age that he is... The Pads are wishing and a hoping that new guy, Gyorko , fills the bill at 2B...and the way he has started the Cactus League, he will...two dingers in 3 games...for the most part, the rest of the crew, is sitting and waiting to get into action...it's a loooong spring trai...

The best picture?... Argo ...hey, I didn't seem 'em all...but I did see this one and it was a great movie...my take on all the lengthy festivities... The host, Seth McFarlane ...I like him...who is he?...he surprised me with some raunchy stuff...never thought that the Academy folks would let that go...really, pretty funny....as good as Johnny Carson or Billy Crystal? ...naw, but OK... I guess that the memo for the Grammy's didn't apply for the Oscars...what?...the wild ones were tame and the stuffy ones were over the top...of course, the dresses are the fodder for the likes of rubber face, Joan Rivers...whatever....and by the way, why was Housewife (?) Star, Brandi Glanville, there?...OMG...she has to have a hell of an agent... Goofy sound ...with the orchestra off site...and the music piped in...it made the singing muffled and a bit distorted...too bad...the best?...Barbra...and Jennifer Hudson...the worst?... naw, won't go there... Seemed like the favor...

Maybe because the birds were a chirping out at the club yesterday...signaling the sign of spring...a coming...or because of the recent purchase of the vinyl of the 2nd set of records of Woodstock ...whatever...I'm feeling a bit nostalgic for that era...forget about the fact that was my college days...but...I lurved these times of music...if you haven't, get a copy...or...watch the dvd of the phenomena...it's great stuff and a huge part of our life... Jimi Hendrix , pictured, was a major factor... The good weather has finally opened up...for the next 10 days...yes!...and this is why we moved here...my golf tourney you ask?...doctor scramble at his best...was in 3rd as I took off, two more scores out...not sure if that held up...but you play differently when it is that format...no gimmees...ha ha...stare at 2 footers a bit...the weather, however, was awesome...oh well, it was fun... Go figure the Clips ...played like dogs against the Spurs, and like world beaters again...
