Morning kids...it's time for the Horse to address the issue of the National Anthem protest ...for whatever reason...that some athletes are doing...the act has come to the forefront due to the NFL's Colin Kaepernick...a San Francisco 49er player ...who chose to sit during the rendition of the anthem at the beginning of the game last month... His stance was for the brutality of the police towards the blacks throughout the US of A ...to draw attention to what he thinks is out of control...his way of showing contempt to the US, I guess...there have been instances of the revolt in times gone past...at least towards the black community... way back  in the Olympics, to start... And since...there have been others... some citing reasons and some not ...of course, there are people who believe in doing so is important...some are just copy cats.. .Prez O remarked that Colin was doing his constitutional right of protesting ...some sports have fines in place if you do it...some do n...

Sometimes, you just feel like having a donut , right?...let's test your memory...when you get into your rental car at the Kahului Airport ...and start your drive to the other side of the Island...you have two immediate choices to make ...that is, if you made the right turn...either stop at Costco or at the Krispy Kreme Store ...you MUST do 1 of 'em...we are thinking the donut shop this time ...there is a market just across the street from where we stay...that should suffice for the 1st week... As we get prepared for our annual trip to Maui , making sure we have all the right looks for the beach and poolside ...well now, we'll get the suntan lotion there...buy some brand new noodles , the thick ones...we did get some cool lids this past weekend...that's done...have to bring out my Speedo for the extra special day...when all the Euros show up...on Wednesdays...new flip flops ?...there is a place over in PB that sells the best you can ever buy... Back when... LABOR DAY ...when I worked...egads, that sounds odd...it was the final day off prior to getting the school year started...the last breath, so to speak...as the days did not stop until Thanksgiving....so it seemed...I would head on out to the Fair, catch the ponies for the closing day... The actual holiday was started back in the 90's, like 1890's...back when people would work 12 hour days and 7 days a a week...really?...so it was said...hmmm, the real story was that there was a strike in Chicago...a recession was in place...many workers were laid off due to the lack of demand of train cars...what?... George Pullman (recognize that name?) was the owner and started the buzz...the union that helped the workers went on strike...Congress tried to appease them...by giving them a day off...ha ha...called it Labor Day ...it stuck...soon, many states ratified it... the first being the great state of Oregon... Good Sunday Morn, kids...how did your Saturday go?...well, geez, I must analyze the Duck game ...as they beat a surprisingly good hooligan team out of UC Davis...really...who had a lot bigger kids than I expected...hmmm...
