Friday nite plights

Jake Peavy needed more than a couple of runs this time around. He was not as sharp as he has been of recent times, but still could have used some run power from the anemic Pads. Outside of himself getting 2 hits and AGonz belting a 2 run hr, the SD team had little to offer. Interestingly the pitcher of record for the Giants, Sanchez, did his stuff with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Having not talked about my pet peeve yet, Kevin Kouzmanoff (Kooz), he did his normal....0 for 5, with 2 k's. Tonite's game features Lincicum and CYoung which should be a beauty. Props to the mighty West Salem Titans who got their 1st win last nite against Tigard...the plight seems more like a light again!

4 Taters!

Nice night for the Pads. Adrian (2) and Edgar Gonzalez, Drew Macias all hit home runs to lead us past the Giants. Just as important is the swing change for 2 nd base probable, Matt Antonelli , who had 3 hits in the game. 17 hits for the team in all was a pleasant change for the Pads. It's all roses when the home team has such a wonderful night. Peavy goes tonight and would love to have similar run production.

Resurrection city

It was a beautiful night for baseball downtown. 70* with a light breeze and no clouds in sight. The Pads are going with the resurrected Shawn Estes against the division leading Dodgers. LA hit him hard. Really Estes was lucky he only gave up 5. He should have been pulled in the 3rd as it was obvious he didn't have it. But we apparently are on cruise control and want to get a good look at what we have. No chance for victory by that approach. Maybe we are playing for last place and 1st pick in the next year draft...Manny is the best hitter in baseball right now. He hits the ball hard and it makes no difference what you try to sneak by him. Well, to borrow Barrack Obama's (and others) famous quote, "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig" referring to the resurrection of Estes.

Positive Pads

To do the balance thing here is the other view. The Pads have brought up the young guns to give them the shot in the arm they need. Jody Gerut, Edgar Gonzalez, Chase Headley, Max (or is it Will) Veneble, and Nick Hundley are the major players here. However the biggest impact has been at shortstop. Luis Rodriguez has given us speed and pop at that position that was severly lacking with Khalil Greene.

Padres Pickling

Baseball has to have a blend of the new and the old. The Padres have that in their team this year. Unfortunately, the old is way too old. My first example is the closer, Trevor Hoffman. He has had the career of very few. Longetivity, success, durability, and the list goes on and on. But now, opposing teams feast on his pitching. His fast ball and change up are too similar to be effective. I loved to watch Arnold Palmer play golf, but his time was up, too.

Initial Post

I have an idea. I am going to express my thoughts about this, that, and everything. My immediate response is going to be on the San Diego Padres. Being a 2-year season ticket holder I have these thoughts rolling in my brain. Bear with me as I am going to talk about the negative as well as the positive. Feel free to respond to me as I want feedback!
