Slang

Image
Morning, ya'll!...wake up!...it's Saturday...it's going to be a rad day and you need to be part of it...I am hit by the number of slang words, phrases, and anagrams that are used nowadays...blame some of this on the mobile phone messaging and texting, right?...only one glitch...the receiver has to understand what you are INTENDING to say... When the foo from North Korea calls out our Prez, with a 'dotard' ...immediately, the web net was a chirping...the bastard can't call our guy that...until, u find out what it means...WTF?...I don't know the language there, but that is in it?...he must have been incensed that he was nicknamed 'rocket man'...tit for tat... Speed typing on your phone...and who doesn't own one, BTW?...the faster you go, the more you depend on the auto correct ...but, does it change your slang?...usually, unless you go into settings and adjust it...fat chance, dude...you just have to realize the source and guess the meaning...

Horses For Courses

The blame game ...goes hand and hand with winning and...losing... in the volatile world of sport ...the boss is the coach...if successful, the smiley faces are everywhere...glad hands, and pats on the back...dazzling quotes appear as do recommendations from all over the place...then, the losses mount up...and the same people who were grinning at ya, are now looking away ...small murmuring takes place whenever you appear...seem familiar?... It's the life of a coach ...and now...at any level of play...or, any sport...hey, you know it's that way when you get in the business... 'don't get too high, or get too low' ...sayings like that...however, you do it for the competition fix that's in your system...yes, when the ball is going in the hoop, or the ball is getting in the end zone, or...well, you get me drift...life seems so easy and wonderful...and at that point, all worthwhile... Here's my personal take... I loved it cuz of the players I had on my teams...

And then there was...

Costco! ...not sure how this evolving, but one by one, stores have hit the skids...er, filed for bankruptcy, and then...closed their doors...what's left?...the big box ones...the aforementioned Costco and Walmart ...right?...and...whatever you can order online... Amazon is still huge...one can witness this by the number of packages that are delivered to our building...the amount is ever growing...and a major function of our concierges...the latest?...food...like in groceries...hmmm... MLB minor league ball ...the teams that just don't figure it out...er, the franchises...no better example than our very own Padres ...wallow about the bottom of the league, most every year...send guys up and down to AAA like no other...but, don't address the issue that is the bottom line for all good squads in beisbol...pitching...here is yet another classic line...the team signed the journeyman lefty, Clay Richards, for a couple of more years...'cuz he can eat up a lot of innings...

Over, Under, Sideways, Down

Morning kids...I have to say that today is our anniversary ...like number 43 ... most of the credit for it, goes to Marsh ...she is and has always been amazing! ...however, now you knew that this was coming...for the past 14 years we have been in Maui to celebrate the day...and, we always have gone to Ruths Chris for the dindin...hmmm...the Hawaiian trip has been delayed until October...but the dinner?...here in SD at RC...can't change that... I have never heard the likes of the speech by any of our Presidents to the United Nations , as I did yesterday!...in essence, telling the foo from North Korea that we are ready and willing to wipe you off the map ...amongst other things...but, this direct?...we'll see... I read an article about the friendly commingling  of that country, North Korea , and it's border buddy, China ...where the NK's do 90% of their trading...odd, that when the UN sanctions them, it really only affects the other 10%...cuz, China does what Chin...

Louie Louie

'We gotta go now' ...man, this is a blast from the past...and don't ask why I am mentioning this now...must have been I heard it at a game...but, it was ringing in my ears...this is the dance song of my era....yup, mid to late 60's... 'Louie Louie' ... And you kids now...have this version that made it throughout the radio world...by the Kingsmen ...actually sung and played in a garage with but one mike suspended from the ceiling...it is and was a very primitive piece of music...and yet, very catchy...shoot, that band even followed it up with a couple of others...one that I remember was  'Money' ...yea, really... However, for us youngsters in the great Pacific Northwest ...this was NOT the 'Louie Louie' we knew and lurved...ours was by the group that traveled down to our neck of the woods...played at the Salem Armory...and did the REAL one... Paul Revere and the Raiders ...they rocked... the lead singer was Mark Lindsey ...it had the full ...

Yup, call me Crazy ...it's the way early tee time this am...boo...so, I have but a few moments to comment on the...well... The Los Angeles Chargers lost again...yea! ...a missed field goal and the relocated Bolts are losers...ha  ha ha...in front of a delirious home crowd of 25,500 screaming, adoring fans ...wait, that part was piped in...the only yelling ones, were the Dolphin peops...estimated at 40% of the diminutive crowd ...BTW, get this...this is real kids... to park i n the 'tailgate lot' at their new digs, it cost a cool $100!!!!.... Over at the Coliseum, the now LA Rams were at home (?), too...played in front of 54,000 ...OK, the day prior... the USC Trojans played in the same spot...drew 86,000 ...which is...more than the NFL squatters drew... TOGETHER! ...ha ha ha ha... My fantasy football t eam won yet again... I gots some Packer and Falcon dudes ...yup, wise picking by the Horse...as I streamline to the champ game...(kidding)...hey, at least I have...

Topsy Turvy Football World

Image
Well, out west... the topsy, turvy collegiate football is just that...depending on your allegiances...there were some mighty interesting, and telling games that went on yesterday...in no particular order... 1.   San Diego St beat Stanford...wait, let's restate that...SDSU BEAT STANFORD!...the Aztecs 2nd straight win against the Pac 12...as the Horse has been saying for a couple of years now...this is a very, very good team...pro style O...with a D that comes at ya... 2.   Oregon whups Wyoming...hmmm...a bit scared of this one...long trip to get there...a disastrous 2nd half against Nebraska...what type of team are the Ducks?...better than we think... 3.   Northern Illinois upsets Nebraska...losing at home is totally unacceptable...right, Coach Riley?...see above, but there was a sense that they had righted the ship in Eugene...nope...and this could be a very scary few days for the coach... 4.   USC in a couple of OT's to beat Texas...see number 2 above...
