The mighty San Diego Padres are now in 1st place in the west ...undefeated and untied...OK, just calm down Horse...it is but one game into the 162...ha ha...still, a convincing 2-0 shutout over the ever dangerous SF Giants is pretty dang awesome...to beat one of the top 5 pitchers in all of the league, MadBum ...well, it doesn't get any sweeter... Terrific pitching by our guy, Eric Lauer .... 70 pitches...no runs allowed ...dang it all...some things...the RP were spot on, too... Wil Myers has a different attitude at the plate... C Hedges has bulked up... Manny is a stud...hitless, in this game, but...just wait... SS Tatis, Jr is the REAL deal... And this...I have never heard this stadium as LOUD as it was in the 9th inning...enough as to witness, Myers coming off the field saying 'WOW!' ... there is something happening here...what it is, is not exactly clear... so, off we go into a season of firsts...and there is so much enthusiasm around town... That's...

Clean out your pom poms...find the SD caps of yesteryear...dig deep to proudly display the Padre bubbleheads...sure enough, it is OPENING DAY out at the old ball yard, er, Petco Park...the new and improved blue and orange...hmmm, is that blue and gold?...soon to be brown and yeller...or, is it to be brown and orange?...something like that...to be switched over to, like permanently, unless, the management changes back...what?... Them Pads are hosting the San Francisco Giants, with their lead guy, MadBum, on the mound...a perennial problem for SD...alas, this, make that, THIS is another year...the kids have grown...the acquisition of a bonafide star in Machado...used to be...the bulk of the crowd was the opponent's gear...so many SF caps and jerseys it was disappointing...not now, kids...we are gonna see the masses in SD... Will it stick?... the unbridled enthusiasm? ...gotta win, gotta win...the magic number of season victories, for this franchise, has historically been 70......

News out of the Padres camp ...not only did they have a super pre-season, but they did the roster move that they wouldn't have made, even a year ago...they are starting their superstar youngster at SS... Fernando Tatis, Jr ...20 yrs young...any other time, in their history, they would shelve the kid in the minor leagues for a greater part of the season...then, bring the lad up...later on... another indication that the franchise thinks that this could be a banner year? ...the opening day is mañana....

In the offing, is this mysterious capitalistic system we exist in...separated by two opposing generalized view points...which I find curiously odd...always have and always will...why are there but TWO? ...it has to be the money...which side favors the people, companies, and lobbyists to brand their product the most?...right?...invest in the blokes and gals who will support what the aforementioned want, and will vote THEIR way...yup, they buy their way through the system...has worked forever...
