It's a grand weekend , kids!...time to put the negatives on the down low , that is if you can...the east coasters do not have the option...as they brace for that hurricane that has been devastating in the Atlantic...and now in the mainland...so the Horse is torn about talking in superlatives...knowing that there are those out there, not thinking that this weekend is so grand.., Let's hit the positive side , anyway...we had Date Night last evening...and we are saying that the commitment to staying in the hood, was a great one...took the Uber to Little Italy for a superb dinner at Buon Appetito ...for you who are aware of this little Italian Gem, you KNOW what I am talking about...da best Caprese Salad , anywhere...the main courses we had, ha ha, lasagna for moi, and cannelloni for Marsh ...then jaunted up the street for a chocolate martini for a nightcap...like near perfect... September is alive and well ...school has begun...the leaves are turning color (ah, depending on YOUR region)...the Del Mar meet is over...BUT... over on the other coast, things are not so rosy... Dorian is finally approaching the mainland...which is a big mystery as to where and how furious ...the 'European' model has it going up the coast line (north) and out to sea...weakening all the time...this would be the very best scenario possible, right?...of course...I have just turned on the pixels to CNN...they have it as a Cat 2 now ...ah, just saw the aerial flyover of the Bahamas ... TOTAL DESTRUCTION! ...where could the people have gone to get out of harms way?... Still sketchy details on the horrific boat fire out of Ventura Cali...very near to Santa Cruz Island...5 of the 6 crew members survived...the rest of the people onboard were below deck...apparently all of them died...the actual names and numbers TBD.. .I heard ...

'The last 24 hours of relief until...' ...this was the mantra we had as teachers way, way, way back when...school started up the next day...and away we would go...to no surprise of anyone who knew back then, I would hit the State fair horse races one last time...ah, as long as I was not coaching football... LABOR DAY ...that was then, and this is now...around here in SoCal, most of the students are already back in school...yikes, and there are so many districts that vary their start up... The severity of Mother Nature will be shown to us...as the hurricane Dorian , is now up to a category FIVE! ...winds to exceed 160 mph ...maybe passing over and thru the Bahamas as I write this am...and on to the US in the oncoming hours...just where and at what speed?...TBD...nevertheless, we wait and see... as the warm waters of the Atlantic show it's strength once again... I am using the word 'again' ...this time in reference to another mass shooting ... 'again' in Texas. ..a normal traffic stop, turned into abnormal...as the killer then went on a spree...this time shooting and killing people in the 'outside'...the numbers are staggering... 7 dead, and 21 injured ...imagine...I tell ya, kids...wherever I go, I think about an exit... but geez, now it's ANYWHERE! ...it's not like these shootings are dwindling...witness one at a high school football game just a few days earlier...and on and on...think Congress is watching?...
