Real Golfers

So after spending the day out at Torrey Pines, I came up with a bunch of conclusions...the players are of all sorts...different races, sizes, ages, temperaments...and my, can they shape the ball...we hung out at the 10th green most of the time and watched most everyone go through...the two biggest groups or crowds?  Of course, Tiger's and Lefty's...and Phil is on his game...Tiger is not...the peops were very encouraging to each of them...great to see JDaly back in it...most of the good ones hit it over 300 yards...my oh my...it was great to have my son here to get out and watch the Farmer's...$10 to park the rig, and $25 a piece for tix...$7 beers...watching the best in the US play golf...priceless...

The ongoing revolution in Egypt is unsettling...and I'm not sure how I feel...the dictator is trying to hold on...BUT...me thinks he should scram...and fast...when the army turns on him, he'll have but a few hours to vacate the country...and who will take over?  Of course, the big scare is it will be the Al Quida...

The recent passing of Gladys Horton made me reminisce...I lurved the sound of the gurl groups way back when I was but a mere child...she was the leader of the Marvellettes..."Please Mr. Postman","Don't Mess With Bill", and my fav, "Beechwood 45789"....and it reminded me of others...

The Supremes...of course, they were the stars of the era, with Diana Ross...who we saw at Humphrey's last season..."Baby Love", "Come See About Me","Stop, In The Name Of Love", and my fav, "You Can't Hurry Love"...

The Shangri-las..."Remember (Walking in the Sand)", "Give Him A Great Big Kiss", and my fav, the classic, "Leader Of The Pack"...

The Ronettes..."Breaking Up", "Baby, I Love You", and my fav, "Be My Baby"...

So most of you have no clue to most of these groups or songs...who did I leave out?  Look 'em up and try 'em out...you"ll be surprised how great they were...

Out at the Farmer's...Tiger was 3 under on the easy course, Lefty was 5 under on the tough one...a South Korean is leading at 9 under... Cris flies in the pm and we get out there tomorrow...look for us, we will be in matching purple suspenders...

The Best

When I see the best, I need to write about it...it was no match...for a number of reasons...however, the number one was the scoring machine of BYU, JIMMER FREDETTE...easily the best player I've seen this year...who led the Cougars over the Aztecs on their own arena...it's now 10 of the last 11 there...the other points, SDS offense against the zone was turrible...and why the Aztecs didn't double Jimmer???  If you haven't, try to follow him...they don't have enough weapons to win it all, but just one game...you bet...and the next Q, can he do the Pro's?  I'm not sure about his D...they play mostly zone...BUT...he is 6' 2"...I'm not sure he is big enough to be a 2...def not a PG...he will be drafted...

And for you who are asking about my golf game...my drives are pretty good, my irons are real good, my chipping is better, and my putting...3 putt six times...guess where I'm going today?  Thanks for asking...

Snowfall on the east coast...gots to admit it is pretty to watch...just not a factor down here...lucky it missed all the playoff games...

Are you watching Idol?  Kind of the same stuff...BUT...Aerosmith's SteveN Tyler and JLo are a welcome change...Tyler is great and I watch the show to see his reactions...very quick wit...

The Worst

I saw this article on naming the worst players in the NBA...two idjets naming 14 or so guys who are clinging on for dear life in the league...what a waste of paper...the article is the worst...oops, I didn't say the worst coaches...anyhoo, speaking of the worst, the Jazz played dead last night against the Lakers...how about shelling out $450 a seat for that fiasco...

Tonight's the night...(Shirelles)...SDS at BYU...is it for real or for naught...

And the debate has begun...Pack or Steelers...the line stuck at 2 1/2 for GB...

As much as I am disappointed in the off season moves of the SD brass, I am excited about the oncoming season...unfortunately, just not for the Padres...really like Big League ball...

The Bolts have 17 picks in the upcoming draft...I expect a bunch of trades to move some of them...

Thanks to the Academy...thanks to God...thanks to the Foreign Press...thanks to you, the fans...yup, that time of year for the flicks...this time it's the Oscars...and who votes for them?  Just below 6,000 members...primarily from their own type of characters...actors, directors, writers, etc...a group that you have to be elected in to...ah, ya gotta love the process...they seem to never, ever, give a comedy any credence...bah humbug...

Pack vs. Steelers...As usual, I got 50% right...the Jets did make it slightly interesting...and da Bears made a late charge minus their goofy QB Cutler...oops, I mean injured...I think the best 2 teams won and I have NO IDEA who to pick for the title...I will watch the line (2 1/2 for the Pack) and that will be my feeler...kind of think that GB is better...

Have not seen the D-1 Hoops Top 25...but 2 of the top 6 got beat...SDS?

Jhonattan Vegas won the Bob Hope...interesting thing is that the Venezuelan is here and not there...what?  Their dictator is closing all their golf courses in their country...people should be working, not playing, so he says...what about us old guys?

Your PDX Blazers

I actually have got to watch the Blazers play their last 3 games...and how they are winning is beyond me...their PG went down with the flu...their back up PG's all failed...then they turned to Rudy to handle the job...and he did well...and made a miraculous 16 point turn around and won the game over Indiana...another mess of a group out there...still...PDX hangs together with LA, Batum, and Mathews controlling most of the playing time and pattern of existence...really cool...hopefully, Rudy gets his rightful playing time now...

Hang on to your helmets, Cheeseheads...I picked the other guys...so you should rest assured you probably will get the win, now...don't think so...figure it's the Bear's turn...even though I'm not crazy about the QB...and prefer the Pack's...the way it should be, no dome, out in the elements...easy to say for me, as I watch the game in 75* temp...

And, how can you endorse the over endorsed Jets?  No, not me...Sanchez will be scrambling for his football life...and look for the Steelers to give him way too much pressure...not that the Jets won't do the same on Big Ben...but he can handle it better...do not bet on the NFL...ever...

College hoops...SDS has to be smiling since Syracuse and Kansas got beat...should move up...before the big showdown with BYU in Utah...who, by the way, sports a great shooting guard in Jimmer Fredette...back to the Orange, not a fan...they play exclusively a zone...lazy guys there, in my book...and, is Duke televised nationally every game they play?
