Thursday Tidbits

Good early morning to ya"ll...before 6...egads...this means I am getting old...the pattern is now set...shoot, brings me back to when I HAD to get up before 6...anyway, here are the tidbits of the day...

I must start with the Portland Trailblazers...er, Rip City...who got eliminated in the NBA playoffs last nite in Alameda...but...PDX had a tremendous season...I picked them at the bottom...they lost 4 starters...yet...found a new way to play the game, featuring their should be star PG, Damon Lillard....they're fun, fast, and exciting...keep your team intact...Mr. GM...and add another PG/SG in the draft...just someone who can give your top 2 guards a real breather...it's all good...

Today is the day that the Donald and the speaker, Paul Ryan meet...hmmm...as big as anything that has happened thus far...if there can be a compromise of what's going on, it will be the icing on the cake for a surprising campaign for Prez...by Trump...no guarantee that it will be positive, that's why it is so intriguing...

"Let's play two!"...so said the ultimate Cubbie star, SS Ernie Banks...well now...I can think of a many Padres right at this moment that may be echoing that same thing...as the unthinkable happened...the mighty Chi-town team...barnstorming through the league...like the way all them pundits have been predicting...got their collective arses beat by the lowly San Diego Padres...both games!...what?...my oh my...won't wonders never cease...

Survivor...as the elder gentleman finally won something...and then ate himself into extinction...talk about irony...the winner is up for grabs...the final show is next week, I think...I tell you, there is no better production in the biz, than that of this show...it just keeps on a ticking, and in tune with the time...

The Players...in the PGA...this is the T with the island green...high drama even for those pro fellers...I didn't get into the pool...as I'd rather just watch the event without really rooting for anyone...how is Jordan Spieth gonna bounce back after his debacle in the Masters?...is it Rory's turn to shine?...can Rickey repeat?...should be fun...early returns for an older bloke, as Ernie Els is on fire!...see, I'd a never picked him...saved me $...

I will be out of communication for a 3 day run at our Member/Guest Tourney out at Sycuan...begins tomorrow...my guest is my son...there is no better father/son thing out there ...win or lose, we win...does that make sense?...we have both been playing well...in a tough field...and bracket...but that's just fine...we'll have a great time...guaranteed...

The NBA refs...I have been watching the playoffs since I was a teeny little boy...this is the worst I have seen them perform...takes away from the games...and... I also think that it is the same dudes making the mistakes...after the games, the NBA releases the statements, that the refs blew the calls...so what?..."we are informing you all that we are screwing the games up"...maybe it's time to get some suspensions in order...and or firings...get some new competent blood in that arena...

Boz is out at Humphreys on August 1...so...I'm gonna head on out there and get us a couple of tix....we have got to be considered Boz Groupies...just right behind the Beach Boys...in terms of can't miss...always a great nite and concert...BTW, while we are in Maui, Carrie is here in SD...booooo....you have seen her in concert, right?...terrific...

Let's see...the summer Olympics are to be held in Brazil...there is a threat of the mosquito danger...but, even worse...apparent coup of their leadership in the works...a coup!...where are we?...does the idea of sending the worlds greatest athletes there make a lot of sense?...as Graham Nash sang, "Military Madness"...revision may be necessary...

Our new living room set got here...without all my fears...worked like a charm...it's a beaut...sparkles in the condo...c'mon down and out and take a look...you know, we do have an extra bed...

Hmmm a MLB dude threw a game where he got 20 strikeouts...what?...normally these over bearing managers pull them before that can happen...Matt Scherzer...beat his old team, the Detroit Tigers...now chucks for the Nats...who has an old time skipper, Dusty Baker...which is the right recipe for leaving him in, to get 'er done...sorry Cliffy...

From the ridiculous files...remember the dude that shot Travon Martin a couple of years back in Florida?...we were there during that trial...saw it 24 hours a day on the pixels...well, the killer is auctioning off the weapon...oh my....

Hoopin' and Hollerin'

Hey now...it's a Wednesday, like May 11...took a day off to go hit the links....and egads, I had a good round...hip hip hooray!...for you in the know, went back to my Nike putter and is was just fine...smiley face inserted here...and...did not get to comment on one of the best Pro Hoop games I have seen in a long time...

You know I warned you about wagering on game 4 of the PDX/GS series...at least on the Blazers...I had this notion that Curry may emerge...which he did...took him a bit to unwind...and my how he did!...Portland started hot at the offset...up 16-2 and breezing...the crowd was delirious!...rightfully so...then, into the game came Steph Curry...the Warriors calmed down...a stabilizing effect...

Still...the Blazers played hard and were up 10 at half...continued their great play...maybe, just maybe, they played their tandem set of guards, Lillard and McCollum, too long...held their lead into the 4th stanza...with each team playing passionate and fun hoops...then...Curry took over...hit his first 3...and HE WAS BACK!...

The game went to OT...where he (CURRY) did what no one else has ever done before...scored 17 points in the 5 min time...and Golden St won the game...goes up 3-1...and heads back down to friendly Alameda...as I alluded, the Blazer guards started to miss their shots in the 4th...probably got tired... I dunno...

Yesterday, Curry got the league's MVP Award...unanimous!...first time ever for the league...hard to believe, cuz the crazy pundits have mysterious voting patterns...not this time...and fittingly, Steph is ruling the NBA World...just ask Portland...

Poli-ticks...

West Virginia and Nebraska did their voting...the Donald won...now unopposed...as he gathers up delegates to wain off the under-current of naysayers of the RNC...BTW, he meets with Paul Ryan this week...stay tuned for the results, ha ha...Bernie won in West Virginny...continues his path...to apparent 2nd place...as the DNC has pretty much locked him out, due to their hold of the Super Delegates...yet, he continues to win states...hmmm...something smells to high heaven...I digress...

Other less pertinent pooh...

Do you really care what happens to Ozzie and his former (?) wife, Sharon?...now, Ozzie and Harriet...I cared about them...you have to have some age to yourself to know what I am talking about...pretty much didn't miss that show..."Hello Mary Lou"...

We are replacing our front room couch...gave ours to our housekeep...and as we were loading it on the truck...which was in fantastic shape, BTW...in his broken English...told me it was his pride and joy...8 yrs old...looked brand new...and that they were poor...lived from check to check...never have I ever felt so good, giving an item to somebody...

Our new one is delivered today...almost takes an act of God to get it up the elevator...scheduling and parking their truck...we have to get down on our hands and knees to beg for mercy...well, almost...I digress...

Nobody cares about my dark side...er, my dark hair...shoot, if that's the case, back it goes to blondie...once the wedding is over...ha ha...maybe I am making more out of this than anyone really cares...ha ha...

The refs blew the end of the OKC/SA game yet again...to give Westbrook a continuation hoop after a foul from 15 feet from the "ring", as Raffy referred to it, was blatantly a blown call...or...did they NOT call the original hold....and call a shot at the "ring?"...you know...the game has changed...the refs are still in the '05 mode...time for some new blood...wonder what the point spread was?...

Is Kelly Ripa as bad as what she appears?...all the informed tabloids say that she is not a nice person...too big for her britches...maybe a complete change would be good for that show...

The Pads are in Chi-town to get beat up by them Cubbie thugs...it's true...got whupped 8-7...and have a double deuce of shellacking scheduled today...maybe, we should wear helmets on the field...to ward off all the rockets  hit our way...you think I'm not pessimistic...can't even watch...

Hmmm...this out of the "yea right" field of media releases...VP Joe Biden, told GMA that he would have been the best president...for this time...hmmm...c'mon Joe...you may have cost Hilz some needed votes...not smart...

The one constant after a round of golf...not the scorecard...not the sticks...not the banter...not the payouts...not the "mercy me" mode...but, the ice, cold beer...for moi, it is the Bud Light...

For you NBA guys and gals...in the post game banter with Charles and Kenny, they had the one and only Dwight Howard with them...and Barkley pretty much grilled "Superman"...have to admit, he seemed like a good guy...much maligned...I think...the big man game is being dropped by many teams now...

Tape Survivor tonight....all the reports say it's a good one...how does Horse always know?...

Monday Decaf

Top of the morning to ya"ll...what have you on the calendar this week?...me?...have prep for the Golf T out at Sycuan...member/guest...which my guest is my son...it is a terrific event for us...a great weekend, regardless of the outcome of the "chasing and finding" of the ball...my number one agenda item is to find me a putter...somehow...ha ha...

Was totally fascinated with the outcome of the PGA event at Quail Hollow...as James Hahn came out of the pack and won in OT...here's the deal...he had missed 8 straight cuts...what?...EIGHT!...it's a good lesson for all of us hackers (not saying he is)...hang in there...things can change for the good...kind of my mantra for me putting...it has to change, right?...

Here's what I did...I worked on putting more with my arms than my hands...screwed me all up...and now, I gots no feel...so my brain is in total confusion...as it transfers down to my body, there is chaos...maybe a new stick will help...ha ha...you can take that a lot of ways...

The Pads were victims of themselves and the umps yesterday...in their loss to the Mets...the series ended at 2-2...too bad...had opps...and didn't get 'er done...I just don't want to get into it...too frustrating...grrrr....

OK...your Portland Trailblazers have a great chance of evening up their series with the champs...looks like Curry is still out...hmmm...I told you to bet the farm on game 3 for PDX...I have grown cautious on game 4...something is in the air...hold off on your wager...save your thousand quid...bothers me when the guys celebrate too much after a win, and not the clincher...be weary, my friends, be weary...sorry, but it's true...

How did your Mother's Day turn out?...it is my son's mother...so I made her a cake, and a meat loaf din din...she likes that as much as anything I cook...unfortunately, or fortunately, she worked most of the day...selling a condo...doesn't seem right, I suppose...I dunno...

Baffles me about the fires in Canada...must not be getting much rain up there?...hey, Repubs, think there isn't a global warming thing?...

The number one place in the US for earthquakes?...you think SoCal, right?...nope...Oklahoma...has to do with monkeying with the land by ingesting water in it and taking the oil out...

There is this dude on CNN...who has a show called "Shades" of something...look it up...he is a black comedian...last week he was doing a show of the KKK...met with them...this week, he did his show at San Quentin...the prison in SF...mesmerizing...next week?...with the police, er, cops...it's worth your while...trust Horse...

The Good Wife...the final show...seemed a bit trite...in fact, I hated it...there are those who think it's been a good run...suppose so...but...not me...

You know who John Daly is?...the rowdy, slightly rotund one from the PGA Tour...now...he's on the Senior's...was the common man's man...swung it wildly...smoked...drank...did all the things the average dude did...and won...and now is trying to win in the 50+ group...

To think we are still giving space and pixel moments to Sarah Palin...really?... what am I missing?...just where is Russia?...

Lots of talk about the iPhone 7...you reading any of this?...a critical chip that would make the battery connection a snap...might be taken out...there will not be a slot for any earphones, too...which means that there has to be a new set of earphones that will magically connect, right?...how does the info slip out?...by Apple?...

What state is next to vote?...nobody is talking...

Mother's Day

Probably the least commercialized special day of the year, don't you
think?...Mother's Day...where a call and or a drop by...is like critical to any mother...should be so for you, her son or daughter, too...for all the right reasons...I will always say that I could have done more while she was alive...don't you say, that if yours is still living...make contact and tell her how much you love her and are forever grateful...that's all...pictured with our son is my mom, and Marsha's mom...

The Derby...doesn't happen like this often...the betting choices came in 1-2-3-4...with Nyquist the dominant horse of the year...at least in the Derby...marvelous race by it's jockey...and the animal had a lot left...yup, I had it in the exacta...but with all my other longer shot bets, ended up in the hole...grrr....and...I think the crowd was at 176,000...only car racing has more peops at a singular event...right?...

I told you...bet the Blazers last eve...should have listened to Horse...as PDX shellacked the Warriors in the 2nd stanza and made it stand up...as PG Lillard threw in 40...the Q now is...will Curry be back for game number 4 in the series?...I doubt it...if not, lay another thousand quid on Portland again...you can thank me later...

Oh my, the Padres...we went to it last night...41,000 fans...hmmm...at least half were pulling for the Mets...odd...anyway, we were our old selves...tater pitching Shields actually gave one (HR) to the opposing pitcher, Colon...he's like 43 and his first ever dinger...and was the diff in the game...throw out the obnoxious coaching at the end of the game...leaving a bloke in to get pulverized to "save" the staff...we were just one run behind...don't get me going...

Congress won't let Benghazi go away...as I have mentioned before...the re-opening is quite curious...the timing of it all...hmmm...has nothing to do with Hillary running for Prez?...if she weren't, would this still be an issue?...curious minds want to know...

I am so happy we are staying where we are...the short walk to the ball park was yet another example of what lays at our feet...don't know what we were thinking...

Calm down Repubs...as you come to your senses...the only way you can get to the power mode of Congress is by getting on the Trump Train...nothing else will work...and maybe it won't either...but all other avenues are dead ends...the elite of the RNC have to muddle through this and come to the right conclusion...unless, they are idiots...hmmm...which they may be...

PGA Tour...the game is very tough...you can make the roughs longer...by not cutting them...you can make the course longer...by moving the tees back...but...you can ruin the game...by making the greens too fast...which is exactly what it going on at Quail Hollow...get real, Tour officials...

A new book just out...as a Secret Service bloke tells all about the 5 Prez he served for...think this would be a worthy read?...
