The Big Dance

Image
So how's your bracket going? Did you see the Big East as this dominant? A lot of people figure Louisville and did they ever look like they may be right...I entered 2 pools and picked UNC in one and Oklahoma in the other...still alive... The Bay Hill...Tiger is lurking and I pick him to make a big move today... SDS's Strasburg hung a 14 k number on TCU yesterday to continue his hold on the best collegiate out there... Peavy pitched yesterday for the Padres and was magnificent in his final prep for opening day... A real interesting article today in the Trib about two surfer dudes in the Viet Nam war era...it's about a film that traces the war history through these guys eyes...one enlisted and the other went into hiding...called "Between the Lines"...I'm going to get a copy of it... The back is still hurting but I did wax my car...

I'm back from spring break and am battered and bruised...tweaked my back and that's just not good for your golf game... Speaking of golf...Tiger is in contention after the 1st round at Bay Hill...crowd favorite Jason Gore is leading after the first... The 1st move new owner John Moorad made with the Padres was remove Sandy Alderson...finally a step in the right direction...opening day is but a couple of weeks away and I'm looking forward to Peavy getting the season off right...it is against the Dodgers, but you gotta have hope... My humbled colleague, Dave Snook, has a problem with the alterations of the face by famous people...usually star types...he alleges that Smokey Robinson has gone under the knife...has anyone ever looked better after the surgery?...I'm serious...they all look like freak shows... In the Big Dance is it not the Big East's big dance? If Louisville and Syracuse win today it makes all else a jv group.... The Blazers in a huge must win game last ...

My 200th Post

It's spring break! Well some say I'm always on spring break...but c'mon it's that time of year that I will always celebrate . Japan vs. Korea...duh. Now all the naysayers banter about because the mighty US of A got eliminated last night. There are so many excuses that are being put out there...not enough money, too early a tourney, Asian advantage 'cuz of this timing, lack of USA fans, USA star apathy, and on and on...fact is the Koreans and Japan were ready...and want to play for their country!!! Regardless of the $...which in my book is the root of it all. I feared it. 50 year old Tom Lehman could not hold on and was passed by like a front running gelding at Del Mar...good for Retief Goosen who is a class guy... The Padres continue their lack of pitching in the desert and it seems like I am a broken record on it...but it is real embarrassing for sure. They do get Peavy and Bell back now...but starters number 3-5...oh my... Let's look at who's left on the B...

I Told You So

As the best singer on the planet, Carrie Underwood, says in her latest hit, "I told you so" I give you that same line as Korea thoroughly beat the highly favored Venezuela team. Make no mistake about it, the Korean time is on a high that matches no other in their quest for the WBC championship. In their way is the winner of today's Japan/USA match...you know who I think will win this... Purdue continues to surprise me in the big dance...Gonzaga, UNC, Oklahoma, and Duke move on...It does seem that the big east is a factor in this, too. Well, the level of play is exciting, but more than that, ordinary. Does it seem to you that every team runs the same offense? It's like all the big time coaches have just gone to the modified pick and roll or pick and pop move as their key ingredient...boring. Over in Tampa one 50 year old fellow by the name of Tom Lehman is beating all the young guns in his quest to win one more time on the PGA tour...leading after 3 rounds last ye...
