So it's getting back to school time...sorry kids, but true...and you need to stock up on your favorite source of pant ware... blue jeans. .. Well, most of you could care less, but...here I go... The cotton that goes into making your favorite jeans are probably grown in, get this, China , India , Africa ...or the US ....it takes about 18 weeks of growth for the cotton plant to grow...throw in the dye it takes to color your pants...and then ship the cotton to whomever puts it together (sew)...like Bangledesh, China, VietNam, Mexico, or...a few in the US ...it may cost from $5- $15 to actually make your jeans... Feel guilty yet ? The sweat shops pay their workers anywhere from $1 an hour to $5 an hour to assemble your pants... THEN ... you go down to your favorite store and pay these amounts... Levi's 501's ...$45 Levi's 505's ...$44 Wrangler's ...$49 True Religion' s...$348 Calvin Klein's ...$89 Ralph Lauren's ...$145 MEK's ...$155 Mankind...

It is the 40th anniversary of the legendary concert, Woodstock ...hundreds of thousands of people gathered in upper New York to, well, come together and have a groovy time ...the fact is... the country was extremely polarized by the Viet Nam War and this was another protest by the young generation of the northeast ...as the war was being battled half-way across the world, the only way to show your disgust, and band together with kids who felt the same way you did, was find some festivals like this one...the west coast had the Monterrey Festival , but just didn't have the impact that Woodstock had...besides the San Francisco area was all protest...of course, to get your mind off the war, drugs seemed to be one of the outlets...for the young minds of us all...you either may die by the bullet or by the drug of the time ...and then the government got involved ...with the police of the cities trying to disband the gatherings... Really, the country was in disarray because of the ...

What in the " Kooz world " is going on ? The Padres have won 11 of their last 15 and actually look like a contender... Kooz , AGonzo , Headley , and Venable have been leading the offense to exciting play...the pitching locked down by the closers Mike Adams and Heath Bell have been nothing short of awesome...am I a fair weather fan? Duh... The PGA championship begins today and is it Tiger's to lose...let's see, he's won the last 2 tourneys and has pretty much whupped anyone in his way...so... It's Del Mar either today or tomorrow... Wacky Wednesday ...who I'd really like to see on Dancing With The Stars ...as you know I think the show is great and have seen it live three times...OK, Bartlett , in your world that is unacceptable...and Snook , you've got no rhythm...but here goes...my list... Madonna ...I'm not sure she can dance with anyone, but it would be worth the look... Cher ...so the producers have a knack for older contestants... Kirstie Alley ...the dancers always lose weight... Time for my negative, Tuesday rant...the most annoying pseudo-stars in the business that the networks deem fit to make money off of... OMG is there any more tough to watch than Kathie Griffin ? What on earth is funny about her? Ashton Kutcher has got to be put out there with the least amount of talent and still gets gigs...why? Paris Hilton ...well you have your sex tapes...but what else is there? Maybe that's enough... The Jonas Bros ...can't sing, can't dance, are youngish, and are cute...but... Lindsay Lohen ...hard to watch a train wreck over and over... OK... I'm through with that. .. ESPN had an awesome piece on Luis Tiant going back to Cuba , 46 years after he left...Even if you are not a baseball nut, YOU MUST SEE THIS! ...it gives you a look at what it is still like in the country there... So get this...I'm on my flight pills and am sitting on the tarmac waiting for my plane to depart...and it sits there for 6 hours...nice chance of keeping me on ...

Finally a new duo that has some nice vibes...go to AOL and try Sam & Ruby ...soft sounds that are a bit reminiscence of Norah Jones ... Last night NBC and Ann Curry did a rad rendition of the Woodstock 40 year reunion...groovy parts for sure and it brought me right back into that time period...also, there is a box set of all the music of that hip festival that is just released... CSN is here next month at Humphrey's and , of course, we are there! Did you know they did not perform " Woodstock " at Woodstock ? They have 2 shows and they are sold out... This Friday America is rolling in and I can hardly wait..." A Horse With No Name "... Getting back to my original point, there is very little new stuff out there...I guess there needs to be a new movement like Woodstock to instigate music minds... Peac e ...

Sorry about that...but, there is promise out there for the Padres ! The youth is served and playing...and playing well... Matt Latos , all 6'6" of him, leads the Pads again to a whupping of the Mets ...throw in Everth Cabrera , Kyle Blanks , Will Venable , Tony Gwynn Jr ., and Chase Headley and there is the foundation to success for this club in the near future...as long as the foolish Kevin Towers doesn't screw it up ...by the way, Bud Black actually showed emotion on a blown call last night and got tossed ! About time he did so...maybe 'cuz he signed a contract extension... Saturday is moving day in the PGA ...guess who?
