Sudoku

Any of you out there caught up in the latest solitaire craze?  Sudoku...it's a numbers game that has degrees of difficulty...yup, I'm addicted...it's in the Trib and I attack it every morning...about 60% accuracy...maybe more like 3 out of 4, so 75%...I leave the Sunday version out, as it has way too many squares...

It's that time of year where the MLB managers get their pink slips...it's easier for the clubs to fire their guys, rather than their players...so Houston, Florida, the Cubs, the Mets, the Dodgers, Seattle, Oakland, KC, Baltimore, and the Pads...your jobs are in jeopardy...unless, you get more to the meat of the bone, the GM's...the Cubs booted theirs...maybe the SD brass will get rid of their play station GM...managing in the Bigs is a cush job...kind of...they all do the same thing...it's managing the egos that is the issue...not so much the game...

Keeping it real...I didn't see the DBacks in the hunt...at the beginning of the year I saw them waddling about with the Pads at the bottom...but, did see LA floundering...good for Arizona, as I am pulling for 'em...

Is there a more ubiquitous event than the upcoming marriage of Kim Kardashian?  The way the television eats this up is way beyond me...way...it just shows that if you build it they will come...ooh, that could be taken a bunch of ways...but, at such a young age, to be tweaked, botoxed, knifed, amped...it's just a shame, or is it a sham?  Whatever it is, the money she and her clan makes is beyond approach...in this day and age of people having to struggle to make ends meet, there appears to be no such problem for that fam...boo...

Stocks

Another crash like day in the market...over 400...still wonder why all this is tied up to the European market...I'm pretty much at a loss for it all...can somebody clue me in?

A number of you are telling me it's near impossible to comment on this blog...here's the key, you must get yourself a google account...and voila it will pop easily...Snooki is complaining that he is the only one commenting...deal is that we are similar in our beliefs...I'll try to be more controversial...

As I said yesterday, you must download the best of Ruby and the Romantics...yup, it's that good...

The Padres...probably the most talented of their starting pitchers, Matt Latos...lost again...he's been the benefactor of horrendous offense...in his 11 losses, the Pads have scored 10 runs...TOTAL...there is an article in the Trib today about the SD Brass talking that it's the paying customers that are so faithful...and the reason for the tube's decline...well, he just doesn't care that much...hey, you know where I stand...they are miserably put together and it will only GET WORSE...

As your new favorite governor responds to the President's comment about the border problems..."What's he talking about?  No problem here, it must be the Canadian border..."
As he jogs with a gun is his holster...I can't make this up...

Del Mar...so I pick the Pick 5...but think that the cash down is too much...$72....so I kick out 1 horse each in the 1st 2 races...OK, you know what's going to happen now...each of them win, as does the next 3 races...$5200 bucks...pretty much ga ga...

The Sweet Voice Of

Eddie Holman...do you remember "Hey There Lonely Girl"...pretty much a 70's classic that had a lot of people singing very high soon after...he was a lead singer for some other groups and then went his solo way...had some other hittish songs, but none like his famous one...he's still a singing and is a Baptist Minister, to boot....BUT...did you know the song was really, "Hey There Lonely Boy" and he changed it?  Yup, so true...it was originally put out by this little group with a humongous smash "Our Day Will Come"...Ruby and the Romantics...in fact, I had this album and I think Snook stole it from me...I digress...disc it up if you can find it...and tell me if it's not one of the top 100 of all time...

Voices of the Everly Brothers...in their prime went in to the army and put the duo's hits on hold...never really recovered...BUT...had a boat load of big ones prior...the best?  "All I Have To Do Is Dream"...top ten ever...but, had some others, "Cathy's Clown", "Walk Right Back", lead the pack...Cris and I saw them perform in Anaheim when he was going to Pomona College, back in "02 or so...the harmony was still there and it was a surprise of nice dimensions...seems like a good group to come to Humphrey's...

OK, I know these are so way back, most of you have no clue to what I am writing about...but let's be clear...the melodies were dynamite and are worth you finding them on itunes...and it'll only cost you $1.29 a song...you'll be happy you did...

The news around here centers on the building of a new Charger's stadium....the hot rumor is that LA is going to build one...and then they will come...the Bolts...really?  In this day and age...it seems like a huge gamble...well, enter the SD Mayor, Jerry Sanders...who's doing everything he can to keep 'em....he's going on a 3 city tour of the latest built NFL teams...it's in the plans to erect the structure here in downtown...around 14th or so...I think...it'll happen and this city continues to grow...

600 Dingers

Can you imagine swatting 600 home runs in the bigs?  You have to last like 20 years or so...yup, it happened...a guy who lived through the steroid age and was not one of them...I'm talking Jim Thome...who last night got two more and hit the unbelievable level...600...he's now with the Twins...been with the Indians, White Sox, Phillies, Dodgers, and now, with Minnie...fantastic!

Staying with beisbol...the Pads are without the strength that they started with at the beginning of the year...the play station GM, got rid of the top 3 set up guys and duh, got beat again in the end...boo...

OMG, the Bachelor Pad...the producers resorted to the ugliest of all games...throw colored eggs at the least attractive people...what?  There's got to be a loon loose in the idea guys on that show...and Vienna and her boy toy...is this real?  OMG ... started with an OMG and finished with an OMG...very good writing...

I hate to harp on this...but the Bachman thing can't be real, can it?  Prez O has a direct path to reelection if it's true...

Sure, I'm obsessed...but the ponies are in my future...probably tomorrow...I've got the Pick 5 on my mind...

We got a rose bush for the patio...so you Orygunians think you have the market...no way, it's a purple rose...

Finally, beautiful weather and I'm thinking a bike ride...must loosen up my achilles...

Geez, I was alive with three horses in the pick 5....3 is good...real good...BUT...not to be...my horses came in 2nd and 3rd...would have been something to hit it twice in the past week...make it worse, I hit the 6th...dang it...still, took money away and it was way fun...Del Mar...

Let me be perfectly clear...Michelle Bachman is a very poor candidate for the presidency...she refuses to honor what she has said in the past...hey, own it...or say, I was wrong...but don't evade it...I want another viable candidate to choose from... and, she is just a terrible option...get to work, Repubs and get a decent choice...or you and your secret society will still be just that...

What's the stock market doing today?  Europe was up, thus we are?

The Pads are back home...surviving the Reds and now, take on the Mets...so when does Rizzo make his reappearance?

It's been unseasonably mild here...huge contrast to that of New York...and, my oh my...why all the celebrity marriages this weekend?  Like weird...

Have you watched the Bachelor Pad?  Wooah, this is first rate garbage...or, Big Brother?  Seriously, dang good fun...

The PGA...what?  Keegan Somebody...as the other guy did his Shepard impersonation and fell apart in the stretch...if there is water or sand, I'm in it...I have to start aiming there...I'd never be in them...

Sure, it's not a positive thing...but needs to be mentioned...a record of sorts...giving up 8 home runs in your last 2 starts...the Padre's Tim Stauffer...here's my thing...he's struggling (duh)...and the management leaves him out there...NOBODY else does that...should pull him...rest him...and give him a go after a bit...instead, they wreck him...and say crap like "let's turn the page"...OMG!

Oh, you may not like this...but I can't imagine a more despicable candidate than Michelle Bachman...she wins the straw vote in Iowa...really?  So, you are saying that 27% of those repubs feel that she is the new leader of their party...really?  Don't they ever watch her interviews?  OMG!

Do you remember how big the Heisman Trophy winner, the Auburn star, the highly shopped collegiate athlete, Cam Newton, seemed last season?  He looks like a smallish QB in the pros...and didn't look that bad in his first exhibition game...

The PGA...OK, I don't know the top two guys...never heard of 'em...so do the masses watch?  Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, and Lefty are lurking...naw, not Lefty...he's almost as lost as is Tiger...the course looks brutal...

Carryover at Del Mar...I mean the Pick 6...will be $1 million...very intriguing to attend...51% chance...I've got a coupon for free parking, free program, free admission, and free racing form...

One of my SD friends got a Traeger...so jealous...can't have 'em on my balcony...they are not that attractive...

And now on a very pessimistic note...the Pad's Wade Leblanc goes today in Cincy...is it another gopher day?  I fear yessireeeeeeeeeee...
