Hoopdom

Image
As the guys collegiate hoop tourneys come to a close, there are a few of them mild upsets...BTW, with this bloody English language...all the rules...why oh why is the plural of tourney, tourneys and not tournies? ...I don't get it...back to the games...in the most publicized league, Duke beat UNC...not a surprise...BUT, Florida St won over Virginia!...now that was...around here, well, in Vegas... SDSU continued their quest for the Big Dance, upsetting Nevada...in the Pac 12, the Ducks went to OT to handle the ASU Sound Devils...I figure it will take conference championships for both the Aztecs and UO to get in...good stuff...and, I think we have to watch Houston , too... The Island Green T ...ah, they call it the Players...aren't they all players?...anyhoo, the lowlight of the day, was as Tiger was moving on up the leaderboard, he succumbed to the 17th hole, the Island Green...as he dumped two tee balls in the water, on his way to a SEVEN...what?...not Tiger!...he r...

Unified

Image
The one thing that was sung in unison this morning,   the condemnation of the assassin of 49 people , praying in 2 mosques in New Zealand...hatred that bears no pity for the killer...there is no right for someone like that...throughout my 15 sources, this was THE headline...the act, totally senseless and inhumane...shall be punished (hopefully) with expediency...there is no justification in life...for his actions...and we are talking ANYWHERE!...for the deceased and their families, we feel pain...the suffering is beyond comprehension... Breaking...another 40 injured... This just may be groundbreaking...the Connecticut Supreme Court is allowing those Sandy Hook families to continue to allow them to pursue their wrongful death lawsuit...against the maker of the weapon used, the AR-15...Remington...this could be huge and the start of...well, stay tuned... Trump boasted this, and lord I have no idea the exact meaning...'supporters may get tough against Democrats'...???... ...

All The President's Men

Image
How about a dinner and a movie? ...it's what we did last eve... spaghetti and da meat bolls. .. a bottle of Wiens finest ...and we were set...the flick?... 'All The Presidents Men' ...made in the 70's and was about Watergate ...the 2 majors, were Washington Post writers, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward ...you KNOW the story... 'Deep Throat' ...the painstaking unearthing (double 'ings, drat!) of the committee to re-elect Nixon...'follow the money'...as the break-in of the Demo office, got linked all the way to the top...the actors, were Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford ...plus an all star cast... It is a 'must see' again, or, if you haven't...the first time...eerily similar to what is going on right now in the present regime...the many layers of covering up...ha ha, allegedly...my only negative to the production...well, I won't tell ya... you watch it, and let me know ...what ya'll think...I think it's free at TMC...someth...

It's Hump Day

Image
Now, back in my time, this was huge... 'Hump Day' ...the week was purnt near over...ha ha...but for the Horse, it is a golf excursion...but, alas, I am taking the day off to rest me back...somehow, 'taking the day off' just doesn't quite do the 'Hump Day' justice, does it... The air waves went ballistic yesterday...as the rich and famous were caught spending their cash on getting in their kids into college...by a number of means, like having someone else take the SAT's, giving collegiate coaches money, ah shoot, by whatever it took...so many different ways...to be candid, I thought that was a given... College is now a big business...filled with corruption and greed ...one doesn't have to look further than their football teams...the salaries of their coaches far exceeds the rest of the faculty...not even close...depending on the size of the school, the 'acceptance committee' spends all their time on figuring who and who doesn't g...

American Idol

Image
It's been 15 years, or so, since the first US phone in music show aired...unfound talented people singing for their chance at becoming 'famous'... American Idol ... Kelly Clarkson was the inaugural winner...and the series took off...over the years, the judges changed, however, the format of 3 remained the same ...they tweaked the influence of the three, too...giving them a 'second chance' option , in case the voting public made a 'mistake'...I call it the Pia Toscana Rule ...many of the winners finished where they started, obscure ..it's a tough business, the music field... I am digging the return of these 3 judges ... Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan ...they do a fine job...egads, I do hate the word, fine ...so, let's abridge that with funky ...yes, that's better...and man oh man, has Ryan Secrest made a name for himself from this show ...right?... The best of the best is Carrie Underwood ...who blossomed into a great in the co...

March Madness

Image
I think you may be referring to hoops, when you think of 'March Madness' ....but, this time I am talking about the incessant cold weather here in SoCal ...the need for a warm coat...a beanie...and long pants...drat the pattern we are in...alas, off I go to the links...the threat of rain, but the weather girls (now 80% of them) say not until after we complete the round... Hmmm, why are the 18 holes called a round? ...maybe cuz, you finish where you started?...if one plays just 9 holes, is that called a semi-round?...half round?... golf, another 4 letter word ... How about Francisco Molinari coming out of the pack, to win Arnies T in Orlando ...who'd a thunk...hey, is a pack, like a pack of wolves?...is that where that came from?...whatever, the one thang that stands out, is that Rory can't putt...I digress... The worst beat the best ... the Suns go into Alameda and whup...from the get go...the Warriors ...I think the spread was 17...the NBA...go figure...and ...

Daylight Savings

Image
Did you remember to 'spring forward?' ...this phenomena that most of the USA does...then, later on, 'falls back'...egads...leave it alone...save as much sunshine for after 5 that one can, is my suggestion...some states do, like Arizona...yet, I have read where some people would want it the other way...can't please everyone... This weather pattern is puzzling...not only have we had more rain since we moved down to 'sunny SoCal'...than ever...but, we have had them cold days, too...just odd, as no other year has been like this.... We had a coupon for Flemings ...and last nite was the chosen one...it is the 'steak place'...one of the top 4 in our area...superb!...really, you can't go wrong with any of the best spots, ie, Eddie V's, Ruths Chris, and Mortons ...the ambiance?...Flemings and Eddie V's the clear winners...the food?...all 4 are equal...therefore, depends on what coupon you have... In the ongoing battle with our old dishwashe...
