The lid is off...the NCAA is naming names...of players this time...that were taking money while playing hoops in college...and it is WIDESPREAD! ...all across the map...from Washington to Duke...and other parts of the D-1 land...at first, it was assistant coaches that got the accusations...that broke during this past summer... now, it's players ... The leaking, er unleashing of the information came from the notes obtained by the NCAA probe of the NBA Player Agent, Andy Miller and his agency called ASM ...if true...is this what we call alleged?...it slams the door on many top tier programs in the USA...well, it's players and just what will be done?...the list has how much each player received and it is damning... Makes me wonder how many other agencies, just like this one, exists ...and where this takes us...so many tales in the past, of $100 dollar handshakes by boosters, throughout the land...to players...that could not be proven... Agents and Sports Agencies ...you ...

Some form of, make that, any form of GUN CONTROL is in it's infancy...we all are affected...in our country... the focus now is in Florida ...as the groundswell has begun...specifically, the people from the high school that was last hit...they bonded and bused to Tallahassee... to speak to the elected officials that can, make that, CAN make changes... One such politician, is the Senator from their state... Marco Rubio ...sound familiar to ya?...yup, he was one of the blokes running for Prez from the Repub side of the ticket. ..has a way with words, yet goes nowhere with them...and, has a huge contribution amount from the...yes...the NRA...said to be in the $3 million dollar range...what?... Sure, his comeback to all Q's is that there needs to be more look into the mental health problems that all, make that, ALL the killers have in common...he always sends out his 'thoughts and prayers' ...never, ever, does he address the gun...well now, one of the fathers who...

I know lots of you out there have been doing the SNOW DANCE! ...a mid February happening...OK, I jested that it did so here, too...naw...but, it was dang cold last eve... witness me North Face coat and stocking cap as I took the dawg out for her nightly ritual...alas, no snow...hey, it is said to be a high of 59*!... The All Star Game ...it was different...and better ...starting with the selection of teams...the old school picks...having the two top vote getters as the captains and pickers... LeBron James and Steph Curry. ..and this worked...as the players gave a much better effort...the game was decided by a hoop...with Curry's team needing a 3 ball to tie, and the James team playing terrific D in stopping them at the buzzer... Specifics ... LeBron is clearly the best hoopster in the land ...a reason for his nickname in that game, 'The King'...and whatever he says he has followers...he is class...and, at the age of 34, he is still in a small elite field of guys....

Eric Hosmer is indeed a new PADRE!!! ... the missing link to this season ...and beyond...signed for 8 years, with an opt out after 5... powerful bat, class act around the club house, good defender, and is a much needed LEFTY hitter ...listen kids, this is the best news I have given to you since I have been a San Diegan... Makes the move of Wil Myers back to his normal spot in LF... the lineup is set ...and it is the best we have had for the 8 years we have been here...8?...maybe a bit longer, I dunno...excited?...you bet... now...we need to shore up our starting pitching ...and, gulp, we may be a contender...
