Pads and the Market

The majority owner of the Pads wants out. Well, his divorce of 44 years may dictate that he gets out. Who has the $ to buy 49% of the team in this volatile time? It has been suggested to put up mini-shares and sell the team that way. Right. Nobody is going in to the market now. It is the tip of the iceberg for all of major sports. Who can continue to pay these athletes the type of pay they are receiving? Hang on to your seat as the prices will fall. Keep following the different countries stock markets. Britain, Germany, Japan, China, Russia, Australia, and the list goes on and on. They are all in turmoil. It's not just here. I really believe it is a way that a market corrects itself. The prices of everything has to fall, too. Where is the bottom? Who has the answer? I'm just saying...

Wack Wednesday

I hope you saw it. The change is gonna come. Obama has emerged as the next great orator of our generation. The stock market is still a bewildering, wacky conglomerate of businesses. It is world wide and an article in the Trib the other day showed how all of the world is taking a hit. The worst being Russia who has even shut down their markets at times. Hang in there... I failed to mention the Red Sox's dramatic victory over the Angels. Both of those teams are so well put together and managed. Somebody had to lose and win. The hitting hero was Jed Lowrie, former North Salem High standout. Real cool. SDS football is taking a big hit around town. Hard to figure out. Wack. The campus is beautiful, large, with outstanding weather year round. What's not to like? They play in Qualcomm Stadium with a boatload of seating. I think they need a young go getter to get out and bring in a lot of promise to the school. The foundation is there. Ed Hochuli remains an item in the ...

Debate #2

As the election is now less than a month away, voters get a 2nd look at their candidates at Belmont College in Tennessee. My preference is Obama. Being a republican I am tired of the recurrence of failed strategies of my party. I also can't see who McCain's cabinet could possibly be. Let's say I don't trust what's there. Obama will bring some fresh faces as well as ideas and it is time for a change. By the way, Palin hinders her party in the worst way. What's wrong with the Chargers? Having watched all their games I have this insight. They are getting beat in the line(s), in their defensive philosophy, and their preparation for their games. I don't see the talent as great but average. If you are just average you have to go overtime with your coaching abilities. This is severely lacking with this club. It's not too late, but the next 3 games will dictate where we are headed. OK Norv, get your act together! The Pads have let Bard and Estes go. Estes is a n...

Trickle Down

The politicians always talk about the trickle down effect. If the rich are making it then the rest of us will, too. Well, the rich are not. And we are not. Maybe there is something to it. The Vegas boys are again right on. They entice you with their points and get you. The inept Chargers could not muster any offense and were way below the point line. The Ducks were not even close to the Trojans. You can not wager on the NFL and make $. I never have and never will. Each week I am bewildered by the so-called upsets. There are some obvious poor teams: Seahawks, Bengals, Browns, Texans, Chargers, and the worst of the worst, the Rams. The Rams have scored 43 points in 4 games.... On the positive side the surprise teams are the Cardinal, Titans, Panthers, and the Bills. The class of the league is the Giants. In fact, the NFC east has the best teams. Paula Creamer is emerging as one of the top in the LPGA. Great bb game last night with the Red Sox/ Angels. Salemite Jed Lowrie ha...

The Point Spread

I am not sure how they do it. I'm talking the odds makers. Having looked at this weekend's games I put out the watch list for a number of games. Most of the games had a lot of points to the underdog. In as much as I wondered why? What do they know? It's got to be something a lot more than we do. The games were blow outs and really eye openers. I am just saying...follow the spread. OK, ok, ok, they have the Chargers/Dolphins game at 451/2...not enough I say. Let's see what happens. Manny is the best hitter in MLB. Just ask the ousted Cubs. Nice article in the Trib today about the hitting prowess of the Pads. Actually 2 diff guys giving their opinion. Look at the contradictions over Kooz.
