So this guy has been struggling...but he has been hitting the ball ... not striking out like somebody else ( Kooz )... Brian Giles got the game winning hit in the 11th and the Padres get a very important win...the pitching did great outside of an off performance by Clay Meredith ...credit Correa, Mujica, Gregerson, Bell , and Moreno (the win) for extraordinary efforts... AGonzo hit his 6th tater and it was all roses last night ... The pundits have it wrong...the Trailblazers are not the better team ...the Rockets have the strength to force PDX to taking bad shots , speed to whup Blake , size to dominate at the post...where has Aldredge gone ? So I am watching the Blazers and the Padres at the same time and my TV goes out in the waning moments of each game...I go online and watch via ESPN ...cool stuff really...the TV came back on to see Giles be the hero ... I have been telling you about Strasburg from SDS ... 14 K's last night and the Aztecs move closer to the pl...

For a superstar, Kobe Bryant , seemed far from that in the Lakers loss at Utah last night. His off balance shot selections ( 5-24 ) were questionable at best ...either he can't get open anymore ...or... odd sequences ...did you watch it? Something was going on... bizarre ...I'm just saying... So there is this young hoopster out of San Diego High, a 6'11" player...Jeremy Tyler ...who is foregoing his SENIOR year in high school ...to play pro ball in Europe ...it's just the latest maneuver that players will make to avoid going to college prior to trying the NBA...it's just a mystery what goes through the kids and his advisers minds... So you know I am not totally sold on the managing of the Padres ...the skipper Bud Black does not always consult me prior to some of his moves...like not using HBell to close out game no. 3 at Philadelphia ...like walking intentionally an 0-fer Lewis and pitch to a pinch hitting Bengie Molina ... a lad who owns the Pads ...if you walk Lewis then you better walk Molina ...or resting Kooz and put both the CF's in at the same time and put Chase at 3B... naw it's a long season and we need to rest some but not some others...so you like sarcasm ? The Blazers must find a way to beat Houston there... The Nuggets actually look like a team...thank Chauncey ... Did you watch Idol last night ? The Padres had a burp in SF yesterday as Jake Peavy gave up his 1st grand salami in a long while...a nooner today as CYoung tries to get back on track at the Giants . My oh my, we had 14 hits yet produced only 3 runs ... The Trailblazers got even with the Rockets and now travel to Houston to try to steal a game there...it took BRoy's 42 points to get 'er done... The Lakers go untouched to Utah to see if the Jazz can win just one ... There is no nicer a flight from PDX to SD via Alaska...especially if we have good friends take us and pick us up... And now AI and DTWS will fill up the airwaves...can't really comment on AI as I missed them... any comments out there ?

For the Portland Trailblazers to have any success against the Houston Rockets they must contain Yao Ming ...the tandem of Joel Pryzbilla and Greg Oden must toughen up and shove the big guy around ...and PDX has to get easier shots ...really simple stuff... not sure it can be done ... I am not going to miss the SJ paper...it has become woeful and if it were not for the Oregonian the peops would be out of the loop... The Padres head to SF for a series to end up their very prosperous road trip ...all good stuff... Going back to the south land...

It is now at the absurd point. Kevin Kouzmanoff , the much maligned 3B of the Padres (by me), hit a 3-run tater to beat the Phillies yesterday. The Pads are now 9-3 and have the swagger we were all hoping for ... HBell gets save no. 7 and it is all roses ...go figure...it's all good. The Trailblazers did not solve the Yao thing like I feared...he hit for 24 in the 1st half and PDX never threatened...as the Rockets take over the home court advantage... Houston had many more easy shots and it may be one and done for the Rose City hoop squad... Am I right that the Celtics look like everyone else without the Big Ticket ? The PGA is in S Carolina and 'cuz Tiger is not there... nobody cares ... Bad news on local Salem boy... Jed Lowrie appears to have a major wrist injury and lose the entire season over it...too bad as he was the starting SS for the BSox ...
