'22 and Counting

Well that was certainly not what I expected ...had to be the most tame New Years of all time ...we pretty much did what we have done for the past couple of weeks...ah, minus a real dindin...but had the appetizers...a bubbly or two...another episode of 'Longmire'...a sporting event or two...then... Awaited for the East Coast ball dropping ... the 2 foos from CNN were at it again ...oh my, why?...really, I spent most of my time watching the Nashville Big Bash on CBS ...a lot of folk maskless, and that's why we didn't fly in there...are there no rules?... I keep asking myself this...and you, too...why on earth is Miranda Lambert so famous? ... bad voice, no personality ...and yet, she is coveted in the bloody award shows for the 'Best' female sanger...ah, no...the host, Bobby Bones ... is the country equivalent to the pop's Ryan Secrest ...just a fact, no commentary...did you notice that when one country artist intros another they almost always say 'here...

New Year's Eve

Image
Prep work for our big New Year's Eve Bash, here at the home ...well, it is gonna be the Boss Lady, Sammi, and me...we got some champagne (England's finest)...some frozen appetizers , the best from Trader Joes (they look good on the box)...some fine wines ...a bit of the better bourbon from BevMo...seeked out the TV guide for the best ball dropping show ...NOT Secrest...or the buffoonery of the two blokes from CNN...enuff of them...me thinks the one from Nashville (CBS) ...will be the winner... Speaking of Nashville ...I did watch the bowl game that was there last eve... Purdue vs Tennessee ...ah, Tennessee was the visitor?...how does that work?...I did not have a dawg in the fray...but, it was a fun one to watch...ended up in OT...and then, seemingly, of course, the Vols got screwed by the refs...even after a review ...in the 1st and only OT, they scored as the runner was not down, and reached the ball over the TD line...refs thought otherwise, and then...the Boilermakers (?...

The Template

Image
I got mesmerized looking back at my history of writing this Blog ... how it started and all... strong encouragement from my PNW buddy, Snooki ....it was but a paragraph or two... never thought that anyone would really read my thoughts ...so, I just did it for myself, sort of...like a daily diary of what I was thinking at the time...somehow, I really don't know...the numbers have grown, that hear me out... I hear from people all over the place...all over the USA who read me daily...shocked I am ...that put my Blog as part of their morning reading ritual...flattered I am...I have lost readers, like really...who have died...that communicated with me, up to their end...which made me tear up.. .I have no idea of the impact the written word can be...then, they pass on...and I realize it is bigger than I think... The TEMPLATE I use...is unique... I follow no one else's ...I speak and write from my heart...lord, I could go deeper, but I would be banned for life...ha ha... there are t...

The Best (and Worst) of '21

Image
Geez, that sounds like the vinyl tha t Jefferson Airplane put out...back when... 'the Worst of Jefferson Airplane' ...which indeed, was...of course, I own one... absolutely dug the Grace Slick sound ...in my collegiate days...which brings me to... the Best ( and Worst ) of '21 ... One has to scratch real deep to find good in what just happened ...another pandemic year, spiraling down by the variant Omicron...as there was promise early in the months...then 'BAM'...more virus...talking about other things, where is the BEST?...can we say, to be that, we have to find things that were better than the rest?...good, but not great... The music business is disheartening ...name me one song that came out this year, that you know....er, hum to...or even know a few lyrics...name me one...it's all on the web net now...so, is there a BEST?...nope, the WORST ... The Stock Market has been a major plus for us ...really, I have no good reason why it is...other than we invested ...

National Card Playing Day

Image
Yea, so this reminds me of the past around Christmas time, back in my youth ... NATIONAL CARD PLAYING DAY ... we would sit around mom's old oak dinner table...and play cards ...her fav was 'Pig'...she just lurved giving me the razz...and got such delight in seeing me lose...ha ha...can't recall the name of the other...but, it was one that she would treasure the moment of giving me the Queen... she would laugh and laugh...how I miss those moments ... Now...card games have gotten serious ...poker...for big bucks...not my style and am not sure I trust anyone playing the game anyway.. .most are at either Vegas, Tahoe, or Reno...but that may be overrun by the huge amount of NA casinos all over this Nation ...I'm sure I am going where I shouldn't, but who actually runs those anyhoo?... In later years, we had a group who would gather and play a myriad of poker and card games ...nickle-dime-quarter stuff...it was fun, and I had a jar of coins used specifically for it......

Sport's Writer Demise?

Image
The ongoing loss of newspaper circulation throughout our land ...ah, the local newspaper...written in your very own home town...delivered to your doorstep, each and every day...is becoming a thing of the past... the current generation...what might it be called...the millennials?...I really dunno...don't subscribe...they get what they want via the web net and the pixels ...it is happening all across the USA... We in San Diego, still have the Trib ...but, like even in our condo building...35 floors of people...I guess we have but 20 who get the paper... well, the cost is a factor...at least $2 bucks a day...$1,000 a year. ..yea, that adds up...so the aforementioned holds here, too...it's just a matter of time, that the written word on paper will be gone... So too, will be those who write for them as a living ...I'm going to be sectional here...but I so looked forward to what happened the night prior in the sporting world...the locals...the high schools, the area colleges...by...

Sentimental Journey

Image
'Let's go on a sentimental journey...' ...song by the one and only, Doris Day ... How was your Christmas?. ..like no other, I am guessing...as the times we live in are precarious...and unpredictable...we pretty much hibernated...had a festive turkey (breast) dinner, which was divine...BTW...watched 'A Christmas Story' , that reminded me so  much of the sitcom, 'The Wonder Years'. ..who borrowed what, er, copied?...had never seen it before, and it was hilarious... To break our mood, we went on a little jaunt in the Beetle ...thru town and out to the beach... surprised that many breakfast restaurants were actually OPEN ...as we have travelers in town for...I dunno...had a hunch that our fav donut shop just may be, too...YUP, a line out the door...in Hillcrest...the Boss Lady got us some, and they were the perfect culmination to our dindin... On with the journey...to the beach ...and walked on the boardwalk...the weather was fantastic!...who'd a thunk?...s...
