Hey, I know it shouldn't be the headline... BUT ...I was worried that there was going to be a NY sweep...and that is unacceptable...nice pitching from  Stults and the reliever corps ...holding the Mets to but one solo shot in the 9th... STILL ...we are near pathetic at the plate... off we go to Colorado and open up for them ...it's like being the homecoming fodder... Marquis going... pray for snow... It seems like every Idol season there is a curious voting scheme....that befuddles the common man or woman...we have another with the worst singer easily...Lazaro ...who is just turrible...forgets lyrics...and yet is voted in the top group each week...boo...as I said yesterday, the top two are the ones I highlighted...by the way, Carrie was fantastic... Hit the races yesterday and was successful....any time I come out of there up $100 it's a very good day...one thing... it was packed at the offtrack...and in the Casino, to boot...what?...it was a Thursday...well, it...

I am really split on my perception of American Idol this season...the singers, albeit the 5 gals, are better than all the Idol winners the past 4 or 5 years ...and the judges are the worst EVER ...I just skip over the comments... Nikki, in particular, is just awful ...so the bad is just that...the good is the talent...to me, it's a two hoss race....'er make that filly race ...now, I'm not going to say that the public is going to vote them as the newest Idol...I'm just telling you who is the best...it's either Amber or Angie ...not caring for the theme that they had to sing in last night, both of these gals did a marvelous performance...they are both dynamite and are getting stronger...it will be fun the next month to see where this goes...very similar to Kelly and Carrie ...I'm just saying... OMG! ... the Padres are starting so terribly... got ripped up again by a very average team, the Mets...that must put us in the same category as the Houston Rockets....

Sometimes a good story comes about...wait, a REALLY GOOD STORY ...as I was watching a multitude of sporting events this past week...you know, bedridden...at the bottom of the screen popped up "Upset Alert" ...this is the latest scheme for the networks to keep you informed...cool, really...something about Louisville ...so, wow, I thought the top ranked guys hoop team was behind...nope, it was the gals team doing the unthinkable and unimaginable ... beating the top ranked Baylor Bears ...who have this gigantic 6'8" center... a feat that would be one of the biggest upsets in the history of gals hoops... So I turn the channel and find it on ESPN something...not the regular feed...and Louisville is using a triangle and two on the big gal ...OK, big deal?...well, yup... they are triple teaming HER , and zoning the other two ...what?...never, ever seen that before...OK, but this story isn't about the method to this madness... it's about the makeup of the Cards.....

Thing...geez, is that true?... the Padres looked to be a mess ...falling miserably to the Mets ... 11-2 ... worst beating of any team on opening day ...and the ongoing questions are abundant...there was no movement of players...so this team stayed pat...and, even worse...lost 3B Headley for a couple of weeks to a thumb injury...and C Grandal for 50 games for substance abuse... OK, don't panic ...it's but one game... BUT ...we have a very fragile spot at C...where Nick Hundley failed so badly last season, he was sent to the minors...had a nice spring...and the catching position is the 2nd most important on the team ...and if we have a sub-par performer there we are way behind...this is what I fear...he needs to step up...defensively...and he is not...the runners run wild on him... OK, day off...let's hope that P Richards has a good outing and we score more than 2 runs... Marsh is upset that I don't write more about other stuff than sports...she is threatening...

What do we have here?...it's Opening Day ...for the Padres ...in NY...playing what I think is a very poor team.... the Mets ...what % of the home teams win?  I can't find the stats...but...during the entire season the home team wins 55% of the time ...hey, if Houston can win, so can the likes of SD...but the Mets are favored ...10:15 am...what's the weather?... Tremendous win for the Cards ...albeit withstanding the most gruesome  leg injury since Joe Theisman's ....and the stomp by Michigan ...sets up a nice final 4...odds on for Louisville ...just after I posted that they wouldn't win the T...I know nothing... D A Points ...what?...won the Shell ...over all the other famous names... Lefty (where did he come from?), Cink, Haas ...and off he goes to the Masters ...used a short putter...dang well, I might add...old Ping ...now, there will be a run at all the used putter bins in your golf stores... My team is leading the Amazing Race ...when did they film ...

Whether you do or you don't...you must respect the day and it's meaning...did I say that right?...anyway, Happy Easter ... The Shell Open ...turned it on to just see...and what was there was fun...the youngish blokes leading were trying not to choke...and the vets were fast closing on them...look for Billy Haas or Stewart Cink to win...or even... The Shockers! ...if you would tell me that a team from Kansas was in the final 4 I wouldn't have been surprised...but not Wichita St!!! ...and Syracuse got in...destroying the turrible shooting Marquette 5... Today's Duke/Louisville one will be a beaut....I got the Devils...and then Mich./Florida ...Big Ten... Something is really smelly at the end of the Laker games ...calls are going their way in a very odd fashion ...and after the fact, the league says that the calls should have gone against LA...more of the same crap in Sac last eve...the Kings were hit on a 3 pt attempt and no call... we had a fix problem i...
