Now to round 3

Image
So out of nowhere emerges John Rollins to get into contention in the Buick. It's not that Camilo is struggling, but Rollins fired a near perfect 64...on the South! The weather is really weird here now and I'm not sure I'm heading out there...yet. Lefty made the cut! So the PGA allows all the players to wear the slogans, names, symbols of their respective sponsors. A billboard if you will. The NFL, NBA, and others will not. I suppose it's because there is no team uniform...but...the NBA guys get themselves tattooed and the NFL guys hide their stuff and produce it on camera. There must be big time bucks in that. As I've said before the PDX team is on the outside looking in....case in point losing to the turrible Thunder (Supersonics) last night. The poor Knicks finished their horrible week hosting the Celts...Kobe, LeBron, and the Celts...ouch! The Nuggets and Jazz both won and gained a game on the Blazers. SDS and USD host tonight and need the wins. And finally, Khal...

Camilo set the bar for the rest of the field yesterday at Torrey. He was at 63, just 9 under on the North Course. That's the one you must score low on. Lefty had an ok round at 2 under on the South. Due to the rain, the courses will be big time different. Davis Love had a nice round , too. Kobe and his Lakers beat the Celts on the road. Even without Bynum they are a force to be sure. The Pads picked up Cliff Floyd to shore up their bench. I remember watching him when he was a rookie in the Grapefruit League in the Space Coast. That's been like 14/15 years ago. I finally got a call from the Padres asking if I was going to reup my season tix. I asked if Towers was going to be back. Unfortunately they think so...so no go for me... USD has been on a downward spiral and losing at home to an average Santa Clara squad hurts big time. How smart is Michael Phelps?

The Buick at Torrey Pines

Image
Let the game begin...The Buick Open starts today out at Torrey Pines. The cool thing about it is they are using both the South and North courses. Planning on going out tomorrow or Saturday and take it in. It is supposed to rain here and so far...nyet. Some key names that have a chance in my book...JB Holmes, Pat Perez, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Aaron Baddely, Padraig, and Lefty...the South is such a long track. So LeBron , not to be outdone by Kobe, goes into NY and lays 52 on the defenseless Knicks. The way things are shaking out, the only battle for a division crown is in the Northwest conference with Denver and PDX... Just a whole lot of enthusiasm with the new owner of the Pads. Just can't wait to see the direction he is going to move the club. I am just wondering how many commercials a program can have before it is called an infomercial. American Idol must have the most of all time... Barry Bonds doesn't have a chance...why hasn't this been taken care of befor...

The Sky is clearing

Ahead of the timetable I thought, Jeff Moorad has bought the majority portion of the Pads. Such a welcome relief and the resurrection will start. The former CEO, Sandy Alderson, is departing and it is all good. Just like in all new regimes....let's just sit back and see where this is taking us. SDS won at UNLV and sends a huge message to this league that the crown has to be wrestled away from San Diego... The Buick is a day away and I'm afraid that it's going to be wet for it. Just makes that course real long (longer) if it is real rainy. Favors the hitters like Lefty or JB Holmes... With the Obama regime, and all other politicians, I fear the lobbyists. Seems like Draschle (sp)has all the earmarks of a lobbyist. Let's see if it smells like one maybe it may be one...I keep harping that there should be no lobbyists... So I don't get the performance enhancing denials. Clemens, Bonds, McGwire, et.all, should just fess up and get on with it. I figure most of th...

The Buick

Image
With many of the PGA stars skipping the Buick it makes it harder to get off the couch and go out and watch the tourney at Torrey Pines. Tiger, Serg, Vijay, Rocco amongst others not being there is a problem. Lefty (FIGJAM) and Padraig will be in attendance. I'm going with the foreigner... The Pads are supposed to be sold before spring training starts in 2 weeks. Hooray for us! The rumor is that Sandy will be gone...hope Towers, too. A fresh start is so needed. Maybe, I'll reinvest... Kobe goes for 61...the Blazers take advantage of N.O. and win on the road...the Jazz in a blow out...LA loses Bynum for awhile...just a real long season in the NBA... SDS at UNLV in a must win on the road... Point Loma hosts Claremont McKenna today ...in baseball! I'm telling you people, it's all about the weather. Played yesterday in Escondido and stopped by a winery on the way back...there you go the perfect day...golf and wine (bought a case of Seasons Syrah at $10 a pop!)... Enjo...

Steelers in the end

Image
So I was so close...had Fitz winning on a pass at the end...well the Steelers had one more period of time to come back...and they did! The 2nd half was real enjoyable and the game was fun. Congrats to Big Ben in his dramatic game winning drive. The Buick opens up here with the Pro-Am on Wednesday. Can Lefty figure out his game in time to compete? The ageless Kenny Perry outlasted San Diegan Khalil Hoffman in Phoenix at the FBR in overtime. Man did they struggle in the extra period...Figures a chip in would win it... How on earth can the purse money be as huge as it is? I thought that corporations were hurting too. The winner at the FBR got over a $1 million...there has to be a trickle down (trickle up?) ... This weekend the NFL all-star game happens in Hawaii...the line is....just kidding. Enjoy the sun!

Sooper Bowl

Image
It's about an hour prior to kickoff. Here it is...the Cards in a wild one. Kurt finds Fitz wide open for the winning score with less than 2 minutes left... OK, ok, ok...don't bet the farm. SDS won on the road! Now that's a sign. USD did not and that's a sign, too. Go Cards!
