For one and one half hours, the former lead singer of the Supremes , Dianna Ross .... dazzled and dazed the audience with non-stop hits...with her first set highlighting her Motown years , the crowd was in a frenzy ...for all the concerts I've seen at Humphrey's, this was the most anticipated and charged up from the very beginning...and she did not disappoint... looking like she was in her twenties. ..I'm not kidding...it was a night of nights...such a diverse group of people in the audience...just, WOW... The Padres have made a living off of come from behind wins , AKA walk off wins...last night no difference...down 3-2 in the bottom of the 9th, SD put together a rally led by the top of the order and hot hitting Nick Hundley , on a sac fly to beat the northwest fav, the Seattle Mariners ...the Gaslamp's own , Joe Thatcher , picked up the win...and, back into first place... Just chillin , 'til the 5:35 game this eve...

I would say the Lakers had no answer for the Celt's Big Baby Davis ...who went inside and out and all around the very soft LA squad last night in Boston...the power that he showed was the difference in the game...coupled with the speed and tenacity of the little Nate Robinson , it was all it took to win... very curious clock management by the elder statesman Phil Jackson...the officiating was very good , by the way...tied up 2-2...just what ABC wants...one more game at Boston, and then it finishes up in LA... Juran van der sloot ...is there a more despicable person in the world right now?  He got away with one murder, but not the latest in Peru...he is lucky he is there...no death penalty...and, can you believe anything he says?  Enough of that... The 16 year old girl attempting to sail around the world...solo...was lost at sea in the Indian Ocean...then, wooah, they found her alive!  Hopefully...let's see, the parents won't let her date , but will let her sail ...

Where do I start...the NCAA has been losing it's power for some time now...and with the Universities and Colleges running amok where ever they want, is just the tip of the ice berg... Nebraska has got the ball rolling...bolting to the Big Ten, or whatever it will be called soon....and all, I repeat all, of their former members of the Big 12 will scatter ...and who's to stop them?   The NCAA?   The usual reasoning is the TV money that is out there which drives all these schools this way and that... Notre Dame is next, then it is Texas. ..and the realignment is on the docket... But, it's not the NCAA that is driving this car ...it's the schools itself and their presidents...there are no checks and balances ...the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer... Penalties ...the latest USC sanctions and all leave me furious ...this pattern has been going on for 20 some years...the school cheats, most all of them, the NCAA investigative team arrives (6 to 30 ...

So do you think you can buy an election?  Check this out... Meg Whitman spent $70 million bucks, of her own money ...supposedly...to win the republican side of the guhvenor race in Cali. ..emphasizing how conservative she is...she is the prez of Ebay ...so, maybe, it's your $...think about it...$70 mill for the primary...how much for the general? How'd the races go throughout the nation?  Disturbing trend for the Tea Party ...but, that's the elephant side of things... maybe, that's good... Talk abut hype...the number 1 draft from last year in MLB ... Steve Strasburg of SDS ...pitched his first big league game last night in the nation's capitol....and WOW ... 14 k's and the win , with him striking out the last 7 he faced...regardless, great start for the 21 year old ...just a few miles north of there in NY , the Padres gave up a walk off tater in the 10th... Mujica , was the pitcher...not a fan here...and it knocked the Pads out of first ... rats....

More on the football alignment crap ...the MWC is waiting on bringing in Boise St. to see what the big conferences are going to do...if the Big 12 is dissolved there may be some of those guys needing a conference...thus, the MWC...domino theory...if Notre Dame goes, everyone falls...or if Texas bolts, the move starts...going to happen in the next 2 or 3 weeks...did you say money talks? The Padres finally got national TV time ...against the Phillies and were no hit thru 7...then AGonzo(2) and SHairston hit dingers and the pen mopped up ... Wade LeBlanc had a super game allowing no runs thru 7...OK folks, the west is tough , and right now, we are the toughest...in NY for a 3 game set...can we get to Pelfry? Game number 3 of the elongated NBA playoffs ...the next three games are in Boston ...my prediction?  The Lakers win tonight...I know, you say I'm a homer ...but naw, LA is not my home ...it's going to go 6 or 7, and for that to happen, LA has to win one in Bosto...

The Jack Nicklaus "Memorial Golf Tournament" was won by Englander, Justin Rose ...another 20 something golfer to win this season...the 21 year old , Rickie Fowler , stumbled just slightly and lost to Rose...Lefty and Tiger were in the field and did cash some $$$...now, all the bigs get ready for the Open... Pebble Beach ?  Father's day weekend... Did you watch your NBA finals ?  Game number 2 went to the Celts at LA... Ray Allen hit 8 3 pointers to set an all time record... Rondo got some key offensive rebounds... BUT , the difference in the game was the officiating ...the horrible crew of Monty McCutcheon , Mike Callahan , and Ken Mauer dominated the game ...way too many fouls were called, and some of the phantom type???   I'm just saying, it is odd how this stuff happens in this sport... Praise can't be heaped on enough for the 1st place Pads on their bullpen ...one of the major parts is the set up guy, Mike Adams ...who went 2 innings yesterday ...

You know this guy?  Probably...he is the commissioner of the NBA... David Stern ...and his business is going to lose $400 million this past season...over priced tix, over priced players, inequities in teams, length of season, length of games, unethical referees, bewildering rules, the list goes on and on...when a biz loses that type of $, changes are made to keep it alive...so what's going on?  Well...the playoffs are on now, and there is great interest there...but the series itself is way too long as I have said now for the last month...and isn't it just the same few teams every year?  Is there equity in the league?  Naw... the rich teams can afford the name players and the others suffer for it...think Oklahoma City (Seattle Supersonics) is going to win the championship with Kevin Durant ?  Or  will he move on to the Celtics or Lakers , make a gaggle more $, and then, win it... The fix ...according to one article I read...change the shot clock to 20 s...
