CRAZY HORSE

Not sure why so much...but the 'putting up the tree' has to be one of my favorite things... EVERY YEAR! ...gone are the days, of a real one...even, a live one...which we have done in the past...but now...it's the artificial TREE ...and, I must admit, I lurve it just the same...albeit, the star on top has Biblical meanings ...in a time where religion has taken a hit...think what you may...there is significant thoughts that the Horse still has in his system, that will never go away... We do the double lighting thinger. ..a newish item we saw on 'Shark Tank'. ..really...adds so much color to the TREE ...our great room is accented with purple, as you know...thus, we have a combo of silver, green, and purple ornaments. ..and of course, the special ones...this year, I have a 'Tennessee Titan' one... Kind of humorous...as I was turning off the lights last eve ...I brushed against one of them balls... CRASH down it went...out comes the little woman to wonde...

Morning...like real early morning...it's Black Friday! ...the day after...Thanksgiving...the beginning of the Xmas shopping season...it is a season, right?...you ever wonder about why it is called 'Black Friday?' ... Seems to me, put black in the adjective mode , and it means something bad ...well, other than people...but, it has signified some catastrophe...so, one would think that the connotation would be not a good thing...yet, it is...so there...you go...the history can be found like back in NY ... the cops were upset at the amount of traffic that this day produced ...called it 'Black'...retailers thought through it, and tried to rename it 'Big Friday' ...didn't stick...oh yea, and Good Friday was already taken... How are your malls doing? ...the closing of so many department stores, can be devastating to them and the places that we, the consumer, can shop... the one closest to us, is almost a graveyard...Horton Plaza ...so many stores closed ...

Morning ya'll...and a very Happy Thanksgiving! ...take time out to enjoy one another...do the family thing, if you can... RELAX ...read the paper, if you get one...make a pot of coffee, if you have some...pop open your computer and read the dailies, that is, if you have one...geez, who doesn't anymore?...shoot, you must be, as you are reading the Horse...right now... I can think back to when the fam was all together...back when...the parents were still alive...we just didn't cherish those days enough... if you still have them, DO SO! ...it doesn't last forever...in your minds, yes...in the flesh, no ...enough of that...you get me drift... Is there a turkey dinner in the mix today?...you cooking?...going to some other house?...feast with the best...man, the fixings are something else, right?... lurve the gravy ...our plans are a jaunt over to Seasons 52 ...for a plate of the good stuff...no hassle...no clean up...alas, no leftovers, though...dang, always a catch.....

Gosh, this is the view outside our window at South Coast Winery ...in Temecula ...if this isn't beautiful, then I don't know beautiful... what a spectacular scene... My apologies to my golfing buddies...as I missed the tee time today...it was all so innocent...as we were on a road trip to that wine area...and yup, had too much ...so did the smart thing... got a room, rather than drive back ...totally not planned, as we had nothing but the clothes on our bods... Even worse, was that they have this beaut of a pool and spa ...tried to get a suit...but the only sizes they had were 28's. ..ha ha, maybe fit me in the 10th grade...so, passed on that... Joined a wine club ... Callaway ...cool thing, is that there is a tasting room right down here in the Q on 4th...where we will get our bi-monthly shipment of the beverages...how convenient... And now the issue we usually end up with... loved the area! ...so, yea, we are looking into what is available... calm down, it is ...

Hi...you know it's been quite a while that we have talked...I call you my FRIEND! ... yup, you have come into my little life...read me for some time now ...and have shared my passions and my quirks ...and you still are coming back...hey, isn't that the sign of friendship?...I reckon so...thank you for being so nice... Had a blast writing yesterday's blog of 1969 ...it was a stupefying time in my life and apparently, for many others...who lived through it...so much that transpired, to put it in such a quick format, was probably doing some of it...injustice...the one that you must go back to...is Woodstock ...rent the DVD, er Blu--ray, or whatever you watch...now... PBS had a show on last night featuring the latest recipient of the Mark Twain 'Humor' Award ...er, something like that...the winner was David Letterman ...beard and all...it was a hoot and if, you have the chance...watch the rerun...it was good stuff...following it was a disturbing piece of film.....

With the death of the notorious Charles Manson , yesterday...it brought back memories of the year that he sent out his followers to do the killings in Beverly Hills in ... 1969 ...as brutal and savage as they were...it spawned the newspeople to jump all over it...the gruesome pix and the why's... The country was embroiled in an apparent can't win war in Vietnam ... President Nixon just was taking over the reins...set his mind on getting us out...had our super negotiator (so we were told),   Henry Kissinger , meeting with the North Vietnamese to neutralize it all...to no avail...and the worst of worst happened in the end of the year...Nixon had to get more troops to send over there...and reinstated the 'draft' ...oh lord...yup, Dec 1... One of the most prolific album pictures ever was released....well, and so was the music...by the Beatles ... Abbey Road ...them walking across that street, single file...not sure why it touched us so, but it did...the best cuts?....

More than a month ago...the UO Ducks were quacking along quite nicely in D-1 football... new coach...new style of play ...success was a brimming over the cup...as NO ONE had them doing so this season...and then... the QB went down with an injury to his shoulder ... BOOM! ... What was, was no longer ...and the next series of games was near a disaster... losses piled up...the new coach was hearing 'it' from the locals ...the leading of the offense was left with a freshman to do the job...and, he didn't have the skills of the injured one...hmmm, can you NFL blokes relate this to the Packer's Aaron Rogers? ...the number of plays became very limited...and the O had to change to adapt... Then...last night... the QB returned ...I mean, RETURNED! ...guess what team looked like that Duck team early on?... Justin Herbert ... the enthusiasm is back...you could hear it in the crowd...you could see it on the players...was that Coach Taggart smiling? ...yup...them Ducks have aw...
