Cheer up!

Image
Hey all, what's a popping? ...what you need is a bit of good news ...something that will make you want to get out and make the day...wunnerful...around here the weather has been a bit on the splendid side...if you are elsewhere, sorry about that...I've had peops say that they lived vicariously thru us, here in SoCal ...yup, it's why we moved...still... You must be planning on going or hosting a Super Bowl Party ...best line I read from one who is not a sports junkie... 'Did you know they were playing some football at the Justin Timberlake Concert?' ...if not for the game itself, watch them multi-million dollar commercials...however, most gather and either pull for or against Tom Terrific, alias Tom Brady ...seems like almost every year he is leading his Patriots in the game...put your name in a pool, and get lucky...believe me, that type of wagering takes absolutely NO skill...diff from betting on one of them teams... I did purchase the JT album ...kind of OK...

Ground Hog Day

Image
Hey, shouldn't it be, 'Ground Hog's Day?' ...man, I can never figure this language out...nevertheless, it's the date that tells us if there is 6 more weeks of winter ...something like that...shadow or no shadow...doesn't that depend on where this bloody ground hog is?...our winter lasts purnt near two weeks... I double dawg doubt that it will be a month and a half longer... I guess LaLa is serious about opening up the case of the death of Natalie Wood ...they have some 'new' witnesses come forward...a mere 40 some years later...what?...and the husband of the time, Robert Wagner, now 87, is a person of interest...search it out on Google, for some interesting read... on the boat that night, the fateful one...was none other than the NOW famous actor, Christopher Walken ...as she drowned off the coast of Santa Catalina... 'the island of love' ...what?...the song made famous by The Four Preps...of course, you knew that... NBA fodder ...the ne...

Julian

Image
So you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city? ...of San Diego ...tired of this and that...and want to show your Oregonian guests what is out there, in the big, wild eastern area...off we jaunt to the happy town of ... Julian ...tucked away in the mountains, thru a dang zig zaggy road...with an elevation of 4200 feet or so...there abouts... This is the change of seasons land for this part of SoCal...I think they got snow 3 times this winter...odd, as our Bend, Orygun friends, them Gahrs ...only got snow ONE time thus far in their part of the world...weird...anyway, the weather now....is splendid!... 70* there...as we took the convertible...top down the whole way... You see, you go back into time there...a small little town...that if you close your eyes, you can feel the path of the covered wagon...or in my case, the hoofs of the horses trotting down main street ...BTW, there aren't many more of the streets there... quaint little shops, cozy rest...

One Port in the Storm

Morning, kids...were you one of them 3 am creatures , that ventured out so you could see the Super Blue Moon? ...which is actually red, or reddish...stories out that it is a phenomena not seen since like 1866 ...about the time that Louis Sockalexis was cranking out the baseballs...I digress...sometimes the moon can actually be BLUE ...which is even more rare...I dunno, I couldn't pull myself out to do it...nature is beautiful at times, huh...ah yes, this is the big hit, Blue Moon , by the Marcels ...                                   What did you think of the Prez's 'State of the Union' address?... here's my take ...you might want to skip this paragraph...it was long...but we listened to it all...yup...and I thought it was surprisingly Presidential ...hey, it's just one man's thoughts...you see, I am an Independent...and outside of his wall tales, it was decently received by the Congress...a few...

State of the Union

Image
Ah yes, the Presidential talk to the country...on where it is...what has happened, thus far...and where we are going...in da future...promises that one tries to keep...encouragement for us all...the 'State of the Union' address...hmmm, I can't think of any Prez in my lifetime that has been as scrutinized as this one...the unleashing of the media has changed things...imagine the headlines back in the 60's, if it was they way it is...NOW... Not sure that there is going to be anything said, that we don't already know...and, I'm sure of this...that the Demos will never get out of their chairs for anything that he may say... it is a house divided to be sure ...I fear that it will be uncomfortable at best...even the Republicans may have some issues... Well, we will hustle on home from the golf to witness it...and then the barrage of retorts from the Demos will soon follow...ie, the SoCal peops, airing their disgust for Prez T...capping it off with the Jimm...

77!

Image
Seventy seven holes and we still ain't got a winner ...out at the Farmer's ... 2 dudes left , and they are returning to Torrey to duke it out again at 8 am...could take one hole...or whatever it takes to beat the other guy... Jason Day and Alex Noren ...yes, we got out there yesterday...left prior to the playoff beginning... There were two tourneys going on at the same time... the leaders and the one that Tiger was playing...at least half the crowd was following HIM!...the other half was scattered about the massive grounds of Torrey Pines...to be fair, there is no one in the game that draws like he does...and he is close, kids...he will win again... Some observations ... Uber and Lyft have eliminated the Cab business almost entirely... TP did not have nearly enough eating spots available, humongous lines at the few they had...the check in station for the too large of carry ons is an absolute joke...remember when you had to check in your phone at the gate?...not now,...

Sunday at the Farmer's

Image
The final round of the Farmer's Insurance Open ...out at Torrey Pines ...as we meet up with them Gahrs to prance around the course...just like the pixels, the people want a glimpse at the big and better, Tiger Woods ...often as much as 10 deep surrounding the hole he is playing, he still has the 'it' factor...so, if you want to see others, it is extremely easy to do so... He had a 2 under 70 yesterday...and if you look at it closely, you would see how fine that score was...considering where his tee balls were...he only hit 3 of 14 fairways...hmmm, sounds a bit familiar to the Horse's game...his short stuff, chipping and putting, is back to normal...for him...it's now fixing the long ball... I didn't think he could do it...now, I do... So, who is leading? ... Alex Noren (-11), a foreigner...Ryan Palmer (-10), a Texan ...and the field is pretty well packed thereafter... now if Tiger E Woods could post a 65! ...see, that's what he does... Anyway, we are ...
