The Day Before

The Bolts are in the moment. Iff (math terms) SD can hold court and do away with the Broncs off they go to the playoffs. It will happen. Momentum is an odd thing about sports. Once you get it, it all seems so easy. This is where the Chargers are. Expect a 40+ effort by them tomorrow eve. Bet the farm. My oh my, the mighty Celts have lost 2 in a row... this time to the oft maligned Warriors. Happens when you get through a big game (Lakers) and have little left for the next one...on the road. 3 Bowl games on tap today. Meineke Car Care...who cares, Emerald Bowl where Miami has suspended 5 of their guys and Cal does a number on them, and Champs where FSU and the Badgers battle it out. Mild interest at best. The Wolves win! Citing faith as a major contributor Coach (?) McHale divulged his magic potion for the victory. Whatever... Have you been following the Cowboys at all (Dallas)? Owner Jerry Jones has said that the coaching staff will remain the same for next year. I think i...

A Recession?

The Lakers made a statement yesterday that there is a west coast NBA team to be reckoned with. Popping the Celts 19 game winning streak LA proved they are in the title mix. Pau Gasol and Kobe led the Lakers over the balanced Celtics. I just don't think there is a lot of separation between these two teams. The Trailblazers again showed they are on the outside looking in with their home loss to the Mavs. It sure seems like the good teams take Portland out of any semblance of offense. PDX has no inside game and they are actually out of control in crunch time. Not the best managed team in the league... The Bolts move closer to the winner take all match with the Broncs on Sunday. The line has moderately dropped to 8 with SD still the favorite. I think the Chargers are going to do a big number on Denver and it is just the beginning. It's so important to be peaking just prior to the playoffs. And finally, the Dux move into town to get ready for OSU, naw , the Oklahoma St. type...

Christmas

OMG! Orygun weather here in SD... Big splash with Notre Dame demolishing hapless Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl. There are those who rave about the new look Fighting Irish...the Rainbows are turrible. If ND played anybody good they would have their normal fate of being whupped. If looks mean anything the assist. coach gets the Gatorade shower in lieu of Charlie...the players didn't gather around him when he finally hobbled his way down to the field...?? The Celtics play the Lakers today to settle a brief query about the best in the NBA right now. The Pads picked up another group of 3 on the waiver wire that may figure in to the pitching plans. Most of them I did not know...Kevin Correia. All the hype here is for the Sunday match of the Bolts and the Broncs... So Ed Hochuli's crew has the Lions game on Sunday... Merry Christmas!

This is dedicated to the...

By the Shirelles...to my friends in the snowy northwest! Greetings from 68* and sunny SD... TCU upended BSU in a good Poinsettia Bowl game last night. Surprised me with the D as the emphasis rather than the O. 34,000 at the game and it was a success. The Blazers looked more like a contender with their win over the Nuggets in their home and home match. Interesting was that Nate didn't use the strange sub patterns that he used the night before...??? Joel P the diff in the game with 19 boards. Are we in a recession? Then how can the Yankees sign anybody for $80 million? Who will pay to see that? The Bronx Zoo paid out $222 mill for their salary last year....the Pads were at $72 mill. NY actually pays penalties about the same as SD wants to pay their regular salary this season...can you say buy a champ? Finally, little Portland St. battled the weather to get to Spokane and play the Goliath Gonzaga. Led by SS's Jeremiah Dominguez and McNary's Phil Nelson the Vikings upset the B...

Poinsettia Tuesday

It looks like the Poinsettia Bowl is going to have good weather. 40,000 fans are expected for the match between BSU and TCU. Gotta go with BSU. I'm usually wrong. The Blazers laid an egg in Denver, who played without Melo. Real strange substitution patterns by Nate sealed their fate. Maybe we had some sick guys or something...still on the outside looking in. Odd scheduling as the same two teams play again tonight at PDX, if they can get there. Remember back when Ed Hochuli blew a call that cost the Bolts a win early in the season. It was against these hated Broncos. Pundits were saying he was off the hook now the Chargers can earn their way to the playoffs with a win vs. the Broncs on Sunday. Not so fast...if SD had their win they would have been in the playoffs now, regardless of the upcoming game, cuz of the record within the division. Well...get 'er done Bolts. Favored by 8 1/2! Here is the real deal...the Chargers should be feared from here on through ALL THE PL...

Crazy...all in all

So the Broncs were 3 up with 3 to go...the Bolts beat up on TBay and the Bills upended the Broncs. Now the upcoming Sunday eve game with Denver is a winner take all! Go figure and the town is a buzz. Hey Phil Rivers was passed over for the Pro-Bowl and he has the highest rating of them all...all in all the best that could happen is going to happen. A big chance to get on to the playoffs beating the team that is sitting a notch ahead. The bowl game you have been waiting for....Hawaii Bowl with the undeserving Notre Dame vs. Hawaii...go Rainbows. The Blazers at the Nuggets tonight...hard to root for any Denver team this week. Oddity of the week. USD hosts Boise St. tonight...in hoops! Just so happens that way. USD has broken up for the Holidays and will have just a few fans...but Boise St. is in town for the Poinsettia Bowl and are here in full force. It may seem like an away game for USD. All in all, Jay Cutler is not a guy you warm up to...

Last Chance

So the Bolts have their work cut out for them this am at TBay. All the pundits here have the Bucs winning the game. I think they may be wrong. Coupled with that is the Broncs hosting the Bills, which is a must loss. It is the last chance... Do no bet the farm on my pix for the $ Bowl Games. Wake beat up Navy, CSU outlasted Fresno, and Arizona did a number on BYU. No chance there... The Dux hoop team barely beat the Portland Pilots. Ouch! My have they sunk to new depths. Chance for change? Apparently the Pads are waiting for Santa to bring them some needed good presents. Nice chance... The Lakers have lost 2 in a row on their Fla swing with Kobe missing tieing shots at the buzzer. What's the chance of that? Lot of buzz around here that Tiger may be ready for the Masters. I wish for him being ready for the Buick in a couple of months. Low chance of that. Evander Holyfield lost a decision to some huge Russian for the heavyweight title. I didn't even know the sport wa...
