The Concert

There is this album, that The Beach Boys put out, accompanied by the, er, a symphony...can't recall which one...that is super...tonight a reprise...as the San Diego Symphony backs up the Boys...Men, well, whatever they are now...we rode over to the site, and heard the background group getting ready for the guys....at Rady...ha ha...the concert is tonight...and we are pumped...not sure about the pre-function, but I am sure we will find something that tingles us just right...'good to my baby'....

Not so good, was the opening act at LaLa Land for the Friars...an 8-0 shellacking...the Bums came out a blazing, and we...well, we had a great chance in the 1st...but, a suspicious strike zone by the AGED ump Wendlestadt, took the bats right outta our hands...true dat...wonder how much he had on the game?...almost seemed like that...and for some idiot reasoning, we rested the best 3B in the league...as a DH...Manny...and his replacement had 2 errors in the 1st...one not called as such...which opened the gates to the runs by the Bums...anyhoo, another game today...and hope for better results...

For more info on listing our property...we balked all day long...the problem?...what is available in the area where we want to relocate...mighta coudla shoulda done a contingency on the one we had our eyes on...but, it is gone already...thus, we are doing the limbo rock...for a week or so...maybe...it really is nice where we are...see?...we waffle more than the Waffle House...

The Horse wore his true 'Lucky Shirt' to bed last night...and it wasn't lucky, whatever that means...

BTW, the Pads scored 1 in the 9th, and avoided the bloody shutout...I went to sleep after the top of the 8th...with my 'Lucky Shirt' adorned...

Individual states are voting on abortion rights...catch me if I am wrong on this, but the evangelicals are more organized than the naysayers...perhaps, they vote more...or often, as donny would say...

Ye, after his dismal run for the presidency, has quite another hurdle to jump over...getting back KK after her severance with the funny boy...odds are 2-1...which was EXACTLY the same odds that ump Wendlestadt had on the Bum/Padre game last eve...

Taped the CMA Fest from a few days back...oh my...don't most of the guys sound all alike?...kinda boring...then there was Carrie, in a world of her own...

Embarrassing golf moments?...you got any?...try this one on for size...back in me coaching days...the local breakfast club held an annual golf tourney at the end of summer...the Horse was on the last hole...about 100 yds away from the pin...the entire group of 100 were in the area behind the green...drinking and eating and carousing...I hit a sky high shot, that e-mailed them all...hit the roof above the sorry arses...and trickled down so slowly, that it just enhanced the shot even more...the boys went crazy, and there was no where to hide...of course, I was on my game...'anyone seen my ball?'...

Lightning

I have no greater fear than...LIGHTNING!...marvel at it's beauty, and yet, must be seen from afar...it appeared that we were going to witness some of that yesterday...but, it passed us by on the east...from this high rise, we do have a great viewing spot...I have actually ran off golf courses as it has approached...much to the chagrin of whomever is in my group...I bring this up, as the season of LIGHTNING is upon us...and a tragedy in DC...as a couple (74 & 75 yrs of age), tried to weather out the storm, across from the White House...UNDER A TREE!...and were killed by a bolt...it's like fans on the golf course, doing the same...a no no...get outta there...in a car, somewhere...but NOT under a tree...

Brittney Griner did get 9 years of prison for her 'crime'...thus the 'trial' is over...and now, the trading season is upon her...fingers crossed that it can be done...along with the teacher held in Russia, too...

We opted out of the horse races yesterday, and did the swim thang in lieu...next week for them hosses...too good of cocooning in our waters, here...couldn't pass it up...

I call this the month of The Beach Boys...as we see 'em tomorrow and then less than a month later in Orygun...we are groupies...has to be in the high teens that we have gone to their concerts...and sing along with Mike and the boys...love it...

A natural let down for the Friars, as the entire state of Colorado did get the final game of that series...not that the Pads didn't bang the gong...just right at people, and there was this marvelous rob of a HR in LF...and now, what many are interested in...another 3 spot with the Bums in LaLa Land...batten down the hatches...

Man...another passing of one of my colleagues...this is happening much too frequently...Stan Kerzel...worked together at Parrish and North...terrific friend and just a fiery competitor...his umpiring was legendary...the OSU's best...

Here at the home, we have but 2 more days to get our pix in for the highly heralded picture contest...I think I have one more entry to submit...of course, I am blackballed...and thus, this is just Daffy Duck stuff...they don't even acknowledge that I have entered any...ha ha...the Rodney Dangerfield of the Pinnacle am I...

Yes, my biggest fear is LIGHTNING!...2nd most, is that donny get's the Republican nod...that is, if he is not in prison...

Finally, we are so close to listing our property...here...a call to be made today...if the price is right, we will...the end product is to move closer to our son and the grandkid (s, very very soon)...we will be giving up selfish stuff, to be available for them...at least, that's the plan...

Seismic Slam Diego!

Forgive moi, all of you outside of the grand city (town?) of Slam Diego...but it is our turn for some downright giddy moments of jubilation!...as the 3 players that were traded for, made their appearance in Padre Brown and Gold...for the 1st time...and the fans went berserk!...lines 4 hours prior to game time...albeit, it was hoodie give away nite, too...YES, the mood was different...anticipation is one of the greatest moments of life...for which I have said forever...

Soto, Bell, and Drury...sounds like a law firm...these cats were the reason for the Friar glee...the TV feed couldn't mask the sounds of the sold out crowd...it was playoff worthy...I will tell you about the opening inning and that's all...cuz, it was spine tingling...ah, for the Pads...

Walks to Soto and Bell, surrounding a 2B by Manny...a hit batsman of Crone...then, Drury time...his 1st pitch, mind you his first that he saw...he walloped for a home run...a SLAM...we call it down here, Slam Diego!...imagine...in a rout of 9-1...that is 4 straight off of the Rockies...and the quirk?...one more today...

Drury, is a topic of interest...he has been the lesser of the commotion...picked up from Cincy...was born and bred in Orygun, Grants Pass...was gonna go to OSU, but the Braves drafted him and off he went into the life of minor league beisbol...since been traded umpteen times...and over time, has gotten better and better...and voila!...now a Padre, and the new DH...go figure...

Tomorrow?...the Friars, the newly equipped ones...are off to LaLa Land to play them Bums for a 3 spot...gonna be an awesome weekend of ball...we shall see...

Legends or Legendary?

Seemingly, this past few years...we have lost many people...too many, thanks to the bloody Covid...thanks, may be the wrong adjective...each and every life is special...and what is left, are the memories of them...I am not telling you anything new...but, the passing of the legendary announcer, Vin Scully...was yet another tough death to absorb...was he a legend or legendary?...is there a difference?...

One of my biggest complaints about people in general...is that we don't honor many...shoot, it may be a relative...whomever...while they are still living...the 'festivities' are done after they are gone...yes, sometimes, it is impossible to do...sudden stuff...but, let's do our best to pay tribute, show extreme esteem, while they are still in the here and now...I guess one could call this a pet peeve...

This will rile up you righters...but, the idea that VP Kamala Harris, went TO TAIWAN, was a tremendous show of solidarity with them and the USA...we depend on them and they so, on us...saw one headline that China was up in arms over this...ha ha...so what?...they are up in arms over everything we do...as long as we buy and sell goods and services to them, they are all talk...one more for you conservatives...why on earth are you always putting VP Harris down?...you call her names, and insinuate she is not smart...enough, I guess...WTH, and you keep trotting out orange?...the dumbest leader in the history of the country...get a life...

Hey, I got the answer to the numbers on the backs of the watches...as I took a couple of them to get charged at our shop in Hillcrest...HE, writes on them when I bring 'em in...case closed...

We ordered and tried a new pizza maker jobbie...it rotates and also heats from above...the reviews were grand, and this one...was not a keeper...boooo...and back it goes...thus far, the oven does the best...well, it does free up more space in our pantry...that is what it is called, right?...

There were some primaries last nite in the voting world...yes, some of the trump endorsed forevers, got the nod in the republican races...OK...but the biggee, was in Kansas, where the right to limited abortions was given the OK...rejecting the ruling of the too conservative SCOTUS...ah, here we go...nice job, women of Kansas...you have spoken...

Set It and Forget It

It's been awhile...that we have seen the infamous commercial, about a roasting, spinning, something of an oven...and the host, had his paid audience...shout along with him, 'set it and forget it'....well, unless it catches on fire...(see yesterday's blog)...it may have been too good to be true...I dunno...but, I bet you a quid you don't still have the beast in YOUR kitchen...

Speaking of hungry...have you seen the vid of the sharks off the shores of Florida?...this time in ankle deep water, kids...I kid you not...the site is not clear, but the waters seem like where we go...geez, I always had a bit of trepidation boogie boarding in Cocoa Beach...the waters were so warm, and the waves just right for the endless joy...maybe not now...hmmm, do you think that donny has ever boogie boarded?...

BTW, a strong effort by the Friars last eve...in a rare win over the entire state of Colorado...the pitching was fine and we got enough runs to go home happy...

The Season of FIRE!

In the west, we have this season, different from the rest...Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer...it is the FIRE season...and we are just now in it...the lack of rain, and snow buildup in the mountains...part of the reason...arsonists, another...and then there is, mother nature...with the lightning...right now, the McKinney Fire...is in NorCal and Southern Oregon...largest such of the year, and thus, the season...we brace for it, up and down the west coast...almost, the inevitable...

What another terrific performance by Tony Finau!...winning in a romp at Detroit...the PGA...what, 26 under par?...geez...

We are in the hot month of August...definitely, the weather does change here in SoCal...easily our HOTTEST of the year in San Diego...the AC is on, lots...not dramatic, mind you, but in the 80's...throw in the Santa Ana winds...and it can be brutal...the FIRE season...

Let's get into it...we made the lasagna...it was a collaboration with the Boss, for sure...it was a lot more than 15 minutes prep time, as it said on the recipe...lot more...we used the noodle that didn't have to be boiled first...which were grand...BUT, added too much meat...sausage doesn't break down as well as the ground beef...kinda lumpy sauce....40 minutes covered, 15 not...and the result?...looked good...the layers held up...I'd give it a C+...not sure that Stouffer's frozen one isn't better...ha ha...no, really...

Well, that was the culmination of the pasta weekend...have to say, the Mac and Cheese, was the easy winner...

The Friars won the series with the Twins...3-2 in the finale...here's the deal...the closer was NOT Taylor Rogers...TG...and was Luis Garcia, who was marvelous!...and closed the deal...in comes the always difficult for us, Colorado Rockies...BTW, any news on trades?...nope, have another day...hmmm...

The passing of one of the all time greats in Pro Hoops...Bill Russell...at the age of 88...11 rings, I think...and what many don't know, he was a great analyst for the broadcast on the TV...a very infectious laugh...one word sums it up...respect...

The Great Ride

Gonna start us off with a sign of absolute joy...traversing thru the streets of the old city of San Diego...via our latest add on, the hybrid mini bikes...yup, the electric when needed jobbies... one can peddle, but, to be downright honest with you...we don't much...ah, honesty, yes...peddle, no...they get about 15 miles per charge...the speed?...all that you want...are we the only ones doing so?...hardly, it is the new RAGE down here...most have the bigger bikes...the happy faces of the fellow hybrid bikers?...contagious...

We happened onto a great lil outdoor cookery...on the bay...that made the most scrumptious burgers...kid you not...just fun and fun for the tummies, too...it is just so cool to get to so many spots throughout the city....er, is that town?...whatever...yes, we are adorned by helmets...ours, were from Costco...about $350 each...so well worth the cash, kids...

Contagious?...Prez B has tested positive for the Covid...AGAIN!...is it due to the drug he took for his 1st time?...this does concern me...at his age and all...all?...well, his age...and his position leading our country...

We have completed Poldark...shhhh...but, the ending was far better than Seinfeld's or the Soprano's...rest assured...

For all the razzmatazz about the Norman Tour on the trump course in NY....nobody gives a damn about the winner...cuz, like in Seinfeld...'Your are ALL winners!'...everyone gets paid and who cares?...

The REAL tour is in Detroit, and it has a donny brook set up for the finale...there he is again, Tony Finau, lurking at the top...the REAL golfers...

You know he is kinda goofy...in such a good way...QB Aaron Rodgers...of the Pack...some might say he has had a few too many blows to the head...but, my oh my, he can play...and his interview yesterday...was spot on...'we can't tell, until we put the pads on'...love that...

Is this another rumor?...serious talks are increasing with the Friars and the Nat's over Soto...me thinks a good one will be included for this to go, other than a 'prospect'...like Cronenworth or Profar...hope I am wrong...we shall see...
