It's the nomenclature of the day...Shaweet Sixteen!...the 16 finalists for...well, we are talking sports, kids...3 key events over this weekend...the PGA, the ladies and the gents D-1 hoops...often, a very robust set of items to invest some of your hard earned scratch on...or, whatever the government dished out to ya...

I look at the stimulus checks as some payback from what we already, or will pay in taxes...you DO pay tax, don't you?...even tho, the amount may be larger than what donny Q paid his 1st two years squatting in the White House...I digress...

The golf 16...lurve the format...in Austin, Texas...mano a mano...'do I give the bloke that putt?'...that type of stuff...some of my favs got in...Spieth, Bubba, crazy eyed Poulter, Rahm (ha ha Gary)...Sergio...hey, that's quite the representation from Spain...but, do they still live there?...18 hole matches...win or go home, to wherever you reside now...probably in tax free land of Florida (ah, see donny q), Texas, or Arizona...I digress...

The ladies 16...I am not a betting man...wait, did I actually say that?...it is a good thing that I DON'T live in Vegas...gots this thing down to 4 teams...pretty much like everyone else...Baylor, UConn, USC (hmmm, Carolina one) and my sleeper fav, Maryland...course, my heart goes out for the Ducks...an extreme looooong shot...

The gents 16...now we have a donny (sorry q, but a real one) brook...any of these last who have qualified could win it...yes, I said that...just don't see a clear fav, even the Zags...so, there are no upsets in me book...settle in and turn off the sound so you don't have to listen to the babble of the 'experts'...

Throwback Thursday

So, I was thinking of back in my early 60's...ah, like the years 1960+...not my age thing...ha ha...on this Throwback Thursday...and the style that was 'in' and how I succumbed to it...I mean, like I had to be hip...for youse in the same era, you KNOW exactly what I am talking about...the pegged Levis...what?...

You see, that was the craze for the GUYS!...tight fitting Levi jeans...nowadays, you heathens just buy them preshrunk and to your style...already done...for like $50+ bucks...right?...back then, the original Levis were not preshrunk...something tells me they were like $3.98 or there abouts...and cuz, my mom would NOT peg them, I would have to do it myself...

Washed them...turned them inside out...carefully undid the outside seams of the jeans...then took chalk, and marked where I wanted to sew them...yes, kids, I did the sewing via the machine...had to, had no other choice...used heavy duty yellow thread...and sewed them...then cut off the excess, and there you go...perfectly pegged Levis...dark blue...and damned pretty...

The ensemble was not done until I topped it off with a Pendleton (wool) shirt...with a very white tee shirt underneath...JC Penneys had the best of these...and then the shoes...brogues...I had like 3 pair...and would put these metal thangers on the bottom of the shoes, so they would click...yes, kids, I was way cool...and THAT is my Throwback of the day...

BREAKING, or broke, depending on how you read my older, elder PNW senior citizen, the Snooki...as he had the gall to correct me on this blog...the tee shirts were bought from JCP, not the Pendletons...which were bought, often, at Bishops...some preferred M&F...he keenly noticed that I pictured wing tips, not the black brogues, that he wore...proudly...

How 'bout them Ducks!...the ladies upset the entire state of Georgia in the Big Dance...this is their 4th straight appearance in the Sweet Sixteen...the coach is a good one...and of course, he recruits well...cuz, it's all about the players you got...

I am infuriated about the rhetoric that the killers need help...that somehow the schools, the doctors, the psychiatrists, the whatever...are to blame...there are loons out there...that slip though all systems...and carry out bloodshed...some have 'directions' that they follow...at times, the amounts of killings seem to fade away...people get killed...then, on we go...this is so sad...let's start with banning the AR-15...the timing, when the fervor is at it's peak...

Why does the common man need a rapid fire rifle in his possession?...why oh why?...I did not say rifle, or a handgun...for you who differ on this, please tell me why...

Well, not as sensitive ...we were about to embark on a short journey to the desert to meet up with amigos and enjoy the heat...alas, the dawg, is telling us otherwise...she has had a bad tummy, and we can't leave until she is quotidian...now, this is achievable...hoping another day will suffice, and we can get there after all...to say that we have been up most of the nite, is a true statement...

A minor problem has arisen over the upcoming season of the mighty San Diego Padres...with the promise of a great team...the interest is high...and with the allowing of actual patrons at the games...the numbers are to be like 8,000 with the tier that is acceptable...sooooo...the season tic holders get the first game...Opening Day...however, there are more than that, that are season tic holders...so, who gets in?...it's all about seniority...who has had their season tics the longest...annnnndddd...the Stub Hubs of the area, who are selling the seats...are getting over a grand for a seat...!!!...guess it is more than a minor problem...

Back to the opening topic...the killer of the people in Colorado,  was charged with 10 counts of murder...just wish there were more severe charges...and penalties if found guilty...

7 Mass Shootings in 7 Days...in the USA

Tragedy on all levels...throughout our country...the MASS SHOOTINGS!...where is it safe?...seems like we had this conversation a while back...the exact same one...at that time, we were talking church, movie theater, night club, school, even grade school, recreation yard, in cars, on military bases...the list goes on and on...add to that recently, massage parlors and now...grocery stores...what the H?...in fact, we have had this in the USA...>

7 Mass Shootings in 7 Days!...

Usually, the mode of the killings is via the AR-15...accompanied by a handgun or two...shoot, I may have the name of the assault rifle wrong... I am not a gun toter...but, the fact that they are readily available for anyone, is beyond me...the common man does not need one of these...shouldn't have it...and there should be a law against it...of course, one of the first defendants of the gun, was the NRA this am...guns don't kill, but people do...right, but if they weren't readily available, the % would certainly go down...

Colorado, who has had way too many mass shootings...has to deal with the one yesterday...the Q is always, WHY?...10 people murdered this time...10!!!...imagine the heartache of all...for you who believe otherwise, it's your prerogative...but, I think, in these cases, the death penalty shall be available...not mandatory, but available...

Let's move on to more calming things....sorry...

Maybe not so....the dilemma on the southern border...the amount of youth that have traversed over it...forget about political crap for the time being...BUT, the fact that people would risk their lives to flee their country where they were born...for a chance elsewhere...I hear the Americans say, but not here...is this 'our' problem?...the world's former police force....I don't have an answer...just a query like you or I must have...

Abilene Christian...3400 undergrads...just recently gone D-1...that fields a team of mismatched athletes...some big, some tiny, some seemingly out of shape...but, my oh my, they do play hard...

Somehow, AC beat UT...yes kids, it is true...they did NOT shoot over 30% from the field, even worse from the 3 ball, under 20%...a player, who is the worst FT shooter on their team, hit 2 at the end...and the victory was won...can you say 'Hoosiers?'...of course, for that to be a truth, they have to win it all...

This tourney has had some doozies...it is said that there are NO perfect brackets left in all of the ESPN entries...I believe that...Ohio ( the other one) beat Virginia...Oregon beat VCU 2-0, as the latter had Covid related problems, and had to forfeit...all Pac 12 teams WON!...6-0...Gonzaga looked great in game 1...I would bet you this...start a new bracket right now...and no one would master it...

The King (LeBron James) went down...this game of hoops...so hard to stay on your feet...the jumping, the twisting, the planting, the stop and go...eventually you will be shelved...he has an high ankle sprain....usually 3 weeks...couple that with the Brow and his achilles prob...this team is in dire straits...the LaLa Lakers...

Gosh, I am pulling so hard for the former Duckee, Aaron Wise, to win at the Bear Trap...but, he was a falling apart throughout the final 9 yesterday...hard to play, with one hand on your throat...PGA, kids...
