How in the Heck, Did...

Hey, kids...just back from a round of what some may call golf...96* and it felt like 100*...had a good time, nonetheless...am now watching the PGA T in Saint Looey...Brooks Koepka is strolling around the park...Tiger, man, if he made ANY putts on the back he'd be in contention...10 straight pars...still at -8...where is Lefty?...ha ha...truth is NOBODY is making anything...have NOT a got a report from the grounds by son Cris, yet...

What the heck happened at SeaTac Airport?...a dude stole a plane?...couldn't really fly it...and ended up crashing and killing himself...thankfully, there were no passengers on board...how quickly the Air Force got in the air...and guided the plane...apparently away from the masses...impressive...did they shoot the dude down?...have not heard...

So many Q's...how could anyone have access to a plane?...so easily?...something is amiss...and needs immediate attention and correction...such a weird and woeful situation...

Somehow I missed the invite to Kiley's 21st birthday bash...cuz, I am so thick with the KFam...it looked like a can't miss thang, which I did...

The Pads won again...what?...this is not a misprint...and we are going to the festivities tonight at Petco...5:40 tee time...OMNI Club Tix...figure we will make it to the 5th...the norm...

Rep Chris Collins, the insider trader politician...says he will not run for re-election...duh...from prison?...

Around town, the UCSD Soccer Coach, for like 30 years...had to resign for disciplinary reasons...inappropriate use of money for after game functions...pizza...good lord...like I did that same thing...let's hope there is more to this...well, maybe not...this can't be the reason...

THE Fires

Summer in the city...and it's HOT HOT HOT!...for the time we have been here in SoCal, this is the hottest it's been...and so much humidity, too...not my fav...TG for AC...well, going right along with this, is how dry our area is...hmmm, up and down the west coast, I reckon...there are two fires going on in Cali right now...the Redding inferno...and now, one east of LA...listen, there is not much to burn, so they travel FAST!...thus, hard to control...and worse, yet, they probably were set...by a sicko...

The pre-season NFL got going this week...of course, we still have the kneelers and fist pumpers...during the playing of the anthem...much to the dismay of Donny...who, of course, called them out...reminder he wants them suspended and worse for the action...stay in your lane, DJT...anyhoo...I did gander at a few of them games last eve...and 3 takeaways...the NY Giants pick of the RB Saquon Barkley, will flourish...and the Brown's QB Baker Mayfield, has a real shot at it...and the mighty Titans...the 1st group, ala Marcus Mariota, were sharp sharp sharp...however, I know nothing and if you are in a FF league with me, you KNOW that's the truth...

Our victorious Padres return to San Diego for a 7 game homestand...host the Phillies first...can the O continue it's latest path?...some bloke in our building is selling his tix for Saturday nite...Omni Clubbers...I will check with the flower gal, to see if it can work...

The PGA...in Saint Looey...my son is on his way there now...I am in a pool that if Rickie wins, I win some putting gizmo...and he is in 2nd going to day 2...TNT or TBS, one of them...is carrying the golf on the pixels...and doesn't start til 11 am...boooooo...we missed all of Tiger, Lefty, Rory, Justin, and Rickie's rounds...the entire half of the field...boooooo....

The Manafort trial...is said to be coming to a close...started with a bang, I suppose...they are going to lock him up, for (allegedly) hiding over $15 million bucks from the IRS...something like that...now, I have heard of no deals to this date...ah hem, for talking about you know who....am I missing something?...

You like your Guinness?...well now, the company, er brewery, has opened up in the USA...not only in Dublin, but now in Maryland...TT, are you hearing this?...

So we watched the Country Fest...ah ha, certainly, not the Hippie Fest...and here's what bothered me...most of the bands and sangers...were guys...where were the gals?...other than Carrie and Kelsea...that was it...a realization of country radio, too...

My closing for the day...Supreme Court Judge Ginsberg...says she wants to go on for another 5 years in the job...what?...she could barely keep her head up at the last state of the Union...address...

THE Hippie Fest

Listen dudes, it was a far out time...the Hippie Fest...surprisingly, not a packed house out at Humphreys...so what they did, was not set up so many chairs...really, it was cool...the background to most of the first set was Rick Derringer...?...he was one of the McCoys...what?...'Hang On Sloopy'...amongst other songs he was part of...the Badfinger bloke did his thang...and then wandered about the 'party' having one or two brewskis the rest of the night...mingling with the the hippie dudes...the surprise of the nite, was Mitch Ryder...minus his Detroit Wheels...well, he had one Wheel with him...beat throat cancer a couple of years back...and sounded GREAT!...

Of course, the event was bolstered by the ultimate hippie and Dead Head groupie, Bill Walton...he was 2 rows up from us (again) and man, is he a tall bloke!...wonderful pix here with our very own flower child, Marsh...he kind of drove the crowd...when he stands up and wows the performers, so do the rest of the clan...really....

The final act was a real band...Vanilla Fudge...listen, we have our guys, our age...who can still belt out the music...far out, man...good time...hmmm, one thing missing?...no tee shirts sold...imagine how many tye dye ones they could have moved...missed opp...

Other...

The bewildering Pads brought up one of their prospects to pitch in Milwaukee...got shelled...gave up 3 dingers in the first...as we lost 8-4...A+ for trying something new...let's give the youngins a chance...see if they can stick in the bigs...

For you Tiger fans...he started miserably in the PGA Major...bogey, double bogey...let's hope he rebounds...so many peops want him to succeed...ie my son, who will be there tomorrow to see the T...don't drop out, Tiger...hang in there...shoot, I often start bogey, double bogey and I finish the round...ha ha...well, I usually start like that...

The NFL starts their pre-season games tonight...can you believe that there are blokes who actually bet on these?...imagine...nope, can't...

A frightening story in the USA Today...that a number of businesses throughout the USA may start LAYING OFF workers, as a by-product of Trump's Tariff War with China...you still a believer?...

The NCAA...is it just me, or have they lost ALL control of their clients...collegiate sports...?...they are dabbling into the one and done issue for potential NBA kids...to skip any college...they are going to make a decision by 2022...what?...ho hum, yawn...

Omarosa...yes, her...has a book coming out on the 14th...a tell all...guess who she is telling all about?...Donny...and the hint is that she may have secretly 'taped' her conversations with him...another nice hire, DJT...ha ha ha...

You Keep Me Hangin' On

Tonight we head on out to Humphreys for a groovy concert, 'Hippie Fest'...that features 4 groups of the late 60's era...ah ha, the reason for the Horse declaring this HIPPIE WEEK...the lead entry is Vanilla Fudge...

The 4some was formed by the sound of the Young Rascals...influenced by the group...make that THE group the early 60's...the Beatles...in fact, they covered some of the Fab Four songs....well, their big hit was the cover of the one and only Dianna Ross, and her Supremes...'You Keep Me Hangin' On'...some say that this sound was a precursor to the heavy metal phenomena...

Also on the docket is Mitch Ryder, Rick Derringer, and Badfinger...interesting to moi, is that all these blokes who are playing are MY AGE...one more little ditty, the drummer for the Fudge, played for Rod Stewart, too....and was instrumental (well, banged the drums) on the hit 'Don't Ya Think I'm Sexy'...you know, I have never seen Rod in concert...

We are gonna dress the part and Uber there...get there early enough to pre-function at the site...get myself a rad tee...and funk out to the hip sounds of the bands...join us?...

The hot item of last nite...the Congressional race in Ohio...where Donny did a late Trump there...to help (hinder?) the candy man in a very tight contest...yup, it was a Donny-brook...the Repub won by 1700 votes...in a place in the USA where the elephants are highly dominant...a sign of things to come?...of course, DJT took credit for the 'probable win...ha ha...polls say he didn't affect the results...but, who can tell Humpty anything?...

Carrie is preggers...now THIS is not Fake News...so many people seem to be jealous of her...why?...cuz she is so successful?...or handsome?...wait, make that pretty...see, that's why I am not much of a ladies man...duh...like, can you imagine a gal saying, 'yes I am dating the Horse'...I digress...

Pawn number 1...you know on our fav CBS Summer Show, Big Brother, if ya'll are put up as a pawn, you are destined to be walking out the door...right?...ah ha...Rick Gates...another Donald J Trump CAMPAIGN DUDE...a subordinate to Manafort...here we go...he admitted...make that ADMITTED that he took part in some illegal actions WITH Manafort...15 money making ventures that were unreported on the tax books...BINGO...Strike One...

On the White House front...Donny let a couple of gems...that he was aware of the Russian Meeting about dirt on Hilz....AFTER THE FACT...and that his son, Donny Jr, was part of the meeting...and that 'he was concerned about his son'...throwing his OWN kid under the bus...OK, my added comment here, what a scumbag...

What a terrific tourney at the Firestone!...Justin Thomas was the runaway winner...with such solid play and booming, accurate drives...as the blokes head on over to Saint Looey for the 4th and final Major of the year...the PGA...my son is going to attend it...lucky dog...your winner?...gosh, look at JT and DJ as the favs...

Since I last blogged about them Pads...the GM (brilliant AJ Preller) put a couple of the pitchers out on waivers...Tyson Ross and J Lyles...who both were swooped up by other teams...we got NOTHING for them...BRILLIANT!...not...Preller's theory, is that now we can bring up the youngins from the farm system...I like bringing the kids up, but not to get anything for the other two, is gross negligence in his job...

Now I have to call this out for the Horse World...the unbelievable amount of shootings in Chicago...over the weekend...listen to me...just THIS WEEKEND...there were 72 shot, with 12 fatalities!!!  This has been going on for some time...here are some staggering stats...318 have been killed thus far this year...WHAT!...428 last year, and 426 the year before...seems to me, that there needs to be some major cleaning up done...Mr President, or, whoever can do so...take troops in there and take that part of the city over...whatever it takes...this may be the worst thing in the WORLD...right here in the USA...

The Bachelorette is over...TG, it was excruciating...who won?...er, who lost?...Jimmie crack corn...

The NY Yankees are set to crucify their new manager...lost a 4 game set to the Bosox...hey, them Red Sox are REAL good...and the Yanks aren't too far behind...calm down, Pinstripers...imagine if you had the Pads as YOUR team...

So, this gal felt that it was the thang to do...saw this bloke who was obviously struggling in life...offered to buy the 'down on his luck' guy his food at a New Jersey gas station...he was  a little short...the dude?...Keith Urban...

Last year the biggest fire in SoCal ever, was the one in and above Santa Barbara...not anymore, the one in Redding surpassed it...well, I guess that is in NoCal...think things aren't hot?...up and down the west coast, kids...

Lady Gaga has gotten her own gig in Vegas...well now, that is one that I'd like to see...

The Hollywood Walk Of Fame...voted Donald Trump off the walkway...yes, to remove his star...

Hippie Week

Morning, kids...I declare this HIPPIE WEEK!...on the same lines of the 'Summer of George'...mostly in jest, but we are going to a concert out at Humphreys, aptly named 'Hippie Fest'...Wednesday...of course, we will dress up like them late 60's blokes and babes...a celebration of days gone past...now, back in that era, I was NOT one...but, I THOUGHT like one...it was partly due to the damn Vietnam War...

Also, due to the change of our young people's minds...the questioning of most everything...just because "I told you to", wasn't sufficient anymore...right?...you, who are my age, know what I am talking about...the button down shirt and minds...gave way to the open neck and nehru collars...or, whatever we wanted to wear...or thought...there must be a reason for what we were doing...

Lost in translation, were the adults...as they only knew the other...it was a dramatic difference in 'cultures'...or eras...or generations...thus, the hippie generation was born...there were some terrific songs of the time...shoot, most colleges and universities were havens for the movement...I guess you could call it that...a time to rethink what was going on...

Was it universal throughout the world?...I doubt it...I didn't know, still don't...my world was what I saw right around me...think about this...what YOU, er, WE, saw on the television...was still from the other generation...did we believe it?...was it still the spoon fed info that THEY wanted US to see?...you betcha...

Our favs, were the shows that chose to represent what we were all about...like the Smothers Brothers...who time after time, would attempt to get the 'Hippie' message out...and were turned away at most efforts...until they got canned...too much for THE CBS dudes...

Most of the drama came to a close, when we finally exited from Vietnam...so, maybe, just maybe, that was the trigger point more than I thought...

Firestone Frenzy

The elite PGA blokes are battling it out at the Firestone, in Ohio...at the same time, POTUS was speaking at one of the 'rallies' that are so needed for the upcoming midterms...in Ohio, too...just wagering that they weren't the same folks attending both...

Justin Thomas has bolted to the top...has a few strokes on the field, to start the final round...with a cluster of the finest hacks in the world, lurking...not sure why, but I feel that Rory McIlroy figures in the end of this T...somehow, that tourney has escaped the electric weather that dominates that area...Tiger?...had an off day, and settled in the pack...tied with Lefty...have you heard of their 'winner take all' match...made for TV...two of the most talented golfers in their era, for sure...and popular, too...

Yea, so Donny was in the same state doing his 'speech'...just an awful orator...boasted that the midterms were going to be big for the Republicans...well, he has a 50% chance of getting it right...hmmm, probably a lot less percent than that...20%?...I just can't get past what he said about Lemon and James...apparently, neither can his 'wife' Melania...is this a dig?...the gal who quit his cabinet, Hope Hicks, was seen boarding the Air Force 1...what the heck?...or Hicks?...I dunno...

Los Padres lost again...the Lost Padres, it should be...same score as the day before...five to four...somebody close the door...I have no idea about the bloke we have pitching today...first timer, I think...helmets needed in the field...

Maybe this is even lower than what Trump did yesterday....there are rumors out there...really?...that he is worried about his son, Donny Jr...in the Mueller Probe...throwing your son under the bus, Donny?...a disgusting thought...for a father...have YOU no shame?...obviously not...

Just happened to watch Roy Orbison's Black and White Concert last eve...where he had a bevy of musical celebs, play and sing with him...on PBS, it was...he sure had a lot of hits...my fav?...well, most would say 'Pretty Woman'...mine is 'Running Scared'...terrific lyrics and melody...perfect fit...

One thing that I feared that would happen over the heat of the summer...were protests...throughout our land, er country...well, it did happen...in Portland, Oregon...over Trump and his methodology of running the USA...a beginning?...

You see where a 1956 Mickey Mantle baseball card went for $50 grand?...man, I had that one back when...well, before my mom threw my cards out, when we moved uptown...wait, do you even know who Mickey Mantle was?...there goes that 50% thang, again...

AOL put this out...it may be smarter to take your SS benefits at 62, rather than wait til later...3 reasons...1.  You might not live long enough to break even (morbid) 2.  You can enjoy your benefits ( and money) while still in good health 3.  You can maximize your spousal benefits by claiming early...
but...if ya'll are still working...you can't take it then...full time, that is...

Oh my...in the upcoming Trump sanctions on Iran...that country has sped up their purchases of airplanes made in the US of A...get them prior to the increased price...hmmm, get enough to last two years, until the sanctions are lifted with the new President...I digress...
