The Playoff

Image
The scribes have the Colts picking on the Bolts and methodically getting them. Let it be known right here...SD wins. Both teams have momentum, both teams have a great QB, both teams have improving line play...but the Charger defense is different. It is aggressive and will get into Peyton's face. If he has time he is the best in the business...if he has time. I am concerned about the lack of practice by LT and AGates...35-28!! and at home... Utah beating up on Alabama just screams more for a playoff...TT getting knocked off by Ole Miss...a vastly improved team. And now...the selling of the Pads! To Jeff Moorad, the CEO of the Diamondbacks...Let's just hope there is $ in the future here and we can get back to being a part of the NL race. A small hope he evaluated Alderson and Towers and revises those positions. GO CHARGERS!

Pac 10 5-0

Image
The Trojans mauled the Lions as expected in the Rose. Penn St. did make it a tad bit interesting in the latter part of the 4th quarter...but the damage was done in the 2nd when USC scored 24...Sanchez and McKnight led them. That makes the Pac-10 a flawless 5-0... Speaking of Penn. St...JoPa's presence is everywhere...but on the field and in the locker room. What's with him not going in at halftime? Something is not right there... The victory just continues the question of why not a D-1 playoff? And now...the Bolts/Colts here in SD. LT and A Gates have not been practicing, but that's not crazy stuff in the NFL. Everyone is picking Peyton and Indy...so that makes this a beauty to watch. And to finish up today, the Big-10 lost another in the Cap 1 Bowl, as MSU lost to Georgia. The scribes like that conference over the Pac-10...always and it's obvious they are wrong again.

Be Creative

After watching the BORING Sun Bowl yesterday I couldn't help but think about how a lot of the the teams have become more creative offensively. On the contrary, Pitt is the most boring team I've seen in the bowl season. There are a bunch of new offensive minds out there. They need to get out and find one of them. Never the less, the Beavs survived 3-0 and the PAC-10 conference continues their dominance at 4-0... For the NFL playoffs, all the home teams are home team dogs. Got to think there are some upsets there... USC whups up on Penn. St. today in the Rose. The Big Ten has the old school football mentality and often gets thumped by the modern guys. More of the same today... John Daly got dq'd by the PGA for 6 months for his recent actions. Oh well... By the way, SDS has hired some quality guys to run their program...Borges for the O and Long for the D. Borges has one of those modern minds...

The Results...

The Dux rallied from a 17-7 halftime deficit to upend the OSU Cowboys in a very entertaining game at the Q. Fortunate to be only down by 10, Orygun ran the 2nd half kickoff to the OSU 4 to start the reversal. The run game proved to be the difference and the occasional big hit on D saved the game for the Dux. I thought the 2 big hits on the QB Robinson altered his confidence and delivery. All in all, a pleasant experience. For all of the NBA fans who said the Celtics were the best ever...Boston has now lost 3 of 4 on their west coast swing. This time to the upstart Blazers who were playing without their best player BRoy...who'd a thunk it. The NFL coaching debacle continues as the Broncs, fresh off a 4 game collapse, fired their long time coach, Mike Shanahan....You have got to be kidding. If he wants, he can have a job within a week. Watch for the Jets to pick him up... The Beavers play Pitt in the Sun Bowl this am without the Rodgers Bros. Tall order for them...Pitt is tuf...

Holiday Bowl

It's finally here. The Dux versus the Cowboys...both defenses have their work cut out for themselves. Both teams have spread offenses...the weather is great...the turf is good...expecting 63,000 fans. Normally I have a great feel for games I care about. Not this one. Whoever's defense shows up wins this one. Tonight the Celts visit the Blazers. BRoy and Oden may be out with injuries. Let's hope not. Again outside looking in...time to break the door down. Enjoy the sun!

Not For Long

First of all the Bolts are riding that momentum train nicely. Kind of figured a big blowout and it was. The Broncs had their chance last week and could not finish the Bills off and this was a done deal. Kudos to the O line who did a marvelous job both in the run and pass game. Now on to the Colts...here in SD. N ot F or L ong...once and only once the NFL head coaches outlasted the referees. Not anymore. You lose and you are gone. 3 more guys got the axe this am. Time for some look at this practice. The league has so many quality players that finding the right mix of them is the key ingredient. Talent is all over the place...but the good guys, the team first guys, the stay out of trouble guys...they're what make your squad a great one. Fuggut about the coach...they have so many assistants to figure the stuff out. The key piece here is the GM. If you have a bad GM you are in a pile of problems. But they don't get the walking papers, the coach does. Now I'm not ...

Playoff Sunday Sort Of

The Bolts chance to prove they belong is upon us. I have seen quite a few of the Bronc fans around the Gaslamp over the weekend. A win and SD is in. Love the hype and the circumstance. Here goes...42-17 Chargers. If Favre would have stayed in GBay would the Pack had made the playoffs? He did make the Jets a much more interesting team for sure. Arizona limping in and clinching so early will hurt them badly. A turrible NFC west. The Colts have greatly improved as the season wore on cuz Peyton got his sea legs back. And he is the best. Is there any way the Cowboys can get eliminated from the playoffs? I'd like that to happen. On to the NBA. The Blazers had their way with the Raptors in PDX. BRoy notched 32 and Oden had a double double to lead them. Celts visit on Tuesday. Boston, riding a 2 game loss streak ,are at the Kings today. The Thunder (Supersonics) are 2 games back from the highly spiritual Wolves. That is a race to watch for sure. Not a lot of talk about the Spurs but they c...
