Hey, it's not always about sports...there is this guy down here...Sam the cooking guy...who is on our local channel and simply cooks many quick, and tasty recipes...anyhoo, he has some books out that you need to pick up...well, you should look in to it, if you are a sort of a cook type...I just did the pecan crunch pancakes this am...and well, they were restaurant quality...you may have to go to Border's to get one of his books... It's the NFL weekend...let's see if I can get a higher % than 50 this week...taking the home teams today...Pitt over Baltimore in a crazy, low scoring affair, that just may go to OT....then you get to try to understand the NEW OT RULES....and Atlanta over GB...just a hunch that it may be the Falcons emerging out of that side of the bracket... The Aztecs go to New Mexico this afternoon to get another test....their version of the pit...supposed to be crrrraaaaaazzzzyyyyyy there...the pundits say SDS goes down... I've been saying all al...

Where else could you find the news like this...not to be outdone by some silly movie, such as the Las Vegas flick about a bachelor party..."The Hangover"...a suspected DUI case east of LA, on the way to LV...right around Hemet...propped up in the passenger seat was a ...GOAT...yup, a real live one...the driver's buddy was in the back seat...the goat is doing well in a animal shelter...no news if it was stolen or owned by said driver... You gurl Britney has a new single out...something to do with "If you hold your body next to mine" or something like that...seems that way back in the 70's a country group, the Bellamy Bros, had a song eerily similar to it...and they want some type of recognition... I swear this is true...a guy in Florida was run over at a gas station by his own rig...seems like his dog, who was riding shotgun, moved over to the driver's side and put the car in gear...and plop...he was hit...no mention to how each of the party's are...

In the match up of 2 of the top 3 MWC's best...SDS survived over UNLV...resembled a civil war type game...not much offense, but a whole lot of D...18 straight!  And mighty Duke, got knocked off by very average FSU, in Florida...the Blue Devils shot over 30 3's...live by the 3 and die by the 3...that's the only teams I follow so far... The Heat go into LA and get whupped...by the Clips!  Not a fan of Miami and loved this...lots of talk around here about trades in the NBA...why?  Anyhoo, the Blazers are shopping Batum, so they say...any truth to it?  Too bad, as I like him...maybe it's good for him, to get outta there... We are on a quest to find a pizza down here comparable to Padington's...not yet...found a nice one in Little Italy...but just not the same... Say what you want about Prez O, but he sure can give great speeches... Gave up on a golf game yesterday, to go bike riding on the beach...no bogies (or worse) there...so nice... Listened to some Art Ga...

Did I say Birdie?  Meant Bradie....as after only two, dos, nee, a pair of seasons at San Diego St, he bolted to take the crazy job at Michigan...Hoke, is a vet of the Wolverine scene, as a player and assistant there...really, good luck to him...the Aztecs promptly named Rocky Long (New Mexico) as their guy...he has been the D coach here for these 2 seasons...nice choice, as he has won where he's been... With the exit of Harbaugh at Stanford, there hasn't been a rush to get that job...why?  They arguably, have the best QB back in Luck...why aren't the boys lined up? In the aftermath of the tragedy in Tucson, it is absolutely amazing that the congresswoman is surviving all that...modern medicine and strong will...faith, too? Trevor Hoffman finally called it quits...601 saves...remarkable...as usual, he stayed on a bit too long...but finally let his body tell him it's time...here me Norv?  Speaking of the Bolts, their D guy, Ron Rivera got the head job at Carolina......

It was a game of mistakes...he who made the most...lost...the Ducks not taking the FG when they were down by 8...especially when it was easier to get 20 yards than 2...and in the rush 3 or 4 mode from the 2nd Q on...and Thomas not having his best game...YET...in all that, euphorically getting a fumble, and put up a heart stopping drive to tie the game...THEN...Auburn marched the length of the field to win it at the buzzer with a FG...Cam Newton was a machine and their defensive line ate up the Ducks...it was a good game...the 2 best teams?  Yup, I think so...still I'd rather have a playoff... Congrats to Auburn as they won the title...the Ducks did not give it to them... Big time proud of Oregon...

To counter the awful shootings in Arizona, the BSBCS championship game draws a happy face to a very sad place...as the investigation continues laboriously in Tucson, the collegiate euphoria of the national title is in Glendale... It is such a game that you can make a case either way...is that not what it should be?  Each team has  chiseled a(an) unique path to glory... I prefer the wear down effect of Oregon...but Cam Newton is in a class by himself... NFL...so I got 2 out of 4...KC was awful, and the GB survival over Philly was a good one... NBA...so PDX took the Heat to OT?  No views of it down here...but did see the Lakers smash the Knicks...so much talk about Stoudemire for MVP...he plays no D whatsoever...East coast bias... People around here are tired of me wearing my green and yellow...it's time...GO DUCKS!

With the tragedy in Tucson and so very close south of the border in Mexico...the meaning of life takes a real jolt...how do people trivialize it so, that they can decide to be the maker?  If you are a religious believer or not...how do these evil people get their do?  Is it a date in Hell?  Is it an eye for an eye?  Just how does humanity get even for the gruesome acts that seem to happen much too often? You know in comparison, I talk about much less meaningful things...like the sport that many of us watch on a daily basis... Politics...has it come to this country that there needs to be a security barrier for all the elected officials?  I have listened for countless hours to those who say it is needed...to those who are scared that they are also potential targets...that this internet thing has too easy a venue to spit out hatred...and to pass that word on...or...that some have said it would be too expensive to protect all those people...the times have change...
