Sunny Saturday

I know I'm carrying this too far...but it is sunny in the Northwest again! The NBA. The trade of AI and Chauncey has worked out FOR BOTH TEAMS. Chauncey and the Nuggets went into Boston and whupped the Celts. For the first time in like years Denver actually had a plan of attack and played defense. AI and the Pistons went into mighty LA and made short work of the Lakers. My oh my, a new coach has unleashed the highly patterned Detroit squad and LA was not ready for it. Still the NBA. Greg Oden and the Blazers should have beat Paul and his group. Brandon Roy had a miserable offensive night that sunk Portland. The encouragement was Oden who had a double-double for the 1st time this year. Stay healthy big guy and you are contenders. It will be great weather for the Oregon teams who host Arizona and California. Yes I picked Cal to upset the Beavs and I hope I'm wrong. The Dux in a thriller. Utah and SDS...it could be 70+ Get out and enjoy.

Sunny Friday...Really

Beautiful weather here in the great northwest...really! It was a great game between the Pats and Jets as I figured. Favre is really a master of his trade. It's like watching Jordan or Woods or Arnie or Annika or Mantle or Sanders(Barry)...players all who are legends that you will say...I saw them play. Really. Favre is that good. Rumor out of Chicago is that Hillary is going to be tabbed as the new Secretary of State. It's like hiring Coach K to run the Olympic hoops team. Absolutely a no-brainer. Really. This is a huge weekend for the Oregon football teams. Wins by them will secure key bowl bids. And you know...the Beavs win out and they are in the Big Daddy. Really. Today is the day for Peavy...but where is he going? If he goes to the Braves and the SS Escobar is included Khalil is gone...it will be a chain reaction. Enjoy the sun here...really!

The Pix

Here goes for this week: 1. Utah over SDS, duh 2. UNLV over Wyoming, team on the rise 3. Cal over Oregon St, sorry but hate Tedford, not me 4. Oregon over Arizona, revenge 5. Navy over Notre Dame, if so Weis is GONE, wavered a lot on this one, toss up 6. USC over Stanford, the Cardinal won this last year...not this one 7. Florida over SCarolina, Spurrier back in the swamp...will be bit bad 8. Chargers over Steelers, by a missed 2 pt. conversion 9. Pats over the Jets, should be a great game on Thurs 10. Bengals over the Eagles, upset of the year One day to go on Peavy. Blazers slowly getting recognized around the country. Rudy may be ROY! To my good buddies Rick Ward and Dave Snook, good luck in the state football playoffs against Tualitan...Go Celts!

Wet Wednesday

Need I say much more on this in Orygun. In the Union Trib I actually got all 14 NFL games correct, but lost out on the $ due to being further off on the tie-breaker. The collegiate hoop season is upon us and SDS and USD appear to have some formidable teams. It is so hard to sign the top notch prospects for but one year prior to them moneying off to the NBA. Recruiting is probably the hardest part of college coaching. Case in point where UCLA lands the Love kid out of Oregon last year and pop he is now in the NBA just a short season later. The Chargers did not blow out the Chiefs like I thought they would, but did get the much needed win. Let's see how the next week goes. 2 days to go on Peavy. I watched Ball St. last night against Miami of Ohio...get real if this is an upper echelon team. The Dux or Beavs would plaster this squad. One of the best investments most of the larger high schools in Salem, Oregon are doing is putting down an all-weather turf for their football field. Due ...

Turrible Tuesday

OMG I hate the rain! Back in the rain belt...with no sunshine...yuck! The lowlife Pads have decided to skip on their longtime closer Trevor Hoffman. Really it is a year too late. His change-up and fastball being virtually the same speed made him less intimidating this past 1 1/2 years. Matt Holiday traded to the A's? Weird move by Oakland who must swallow a 13+ million $ contract. He would have fit real well in SD, but the price tag is too steep for the frugal Pads. 3 Days to go on Peavy... Yes I had a perfect 10 for 10 in my pix this past week. Go bet the farm! And now the CH poll: 1. Texas Tech 2. Oklahoma 3. Florida 4. USC 5. Texas 6. Alabama Good bye PSU...

Monday in the Rain

So with the narrow escape by the Bolts my pix are at 9 for 9. Just down to the Cards on Monday nite football. The Lakers continue on as the best in the NBA. This just may be the best team since a tough Lakers team a while back won 33 in a row. Watch out! This will be trade week in MLB. Key names other than the Pads guys include Sabathia, Holliday, and Manny. Everyone gets stronger but the Padres. Back in the rain...

Sunday Blitz

I am really excited about the Chargers and their new blitz defense. Pity the Chiefs who will pay the brunt of the frustration that has built up in the Bolts. 8 for 8 in my pix so far. The Dux and the Rebels in big last minute wins helped the perfection. The Cards and the Chargers should keep me undefeated this week. The USC/Cal game had the worst officiating I've seen this year. Pac-10 officials seem to need some new blood. One sequence had a roughing the passer call, that was clearly anything but. It is a collision game. Shortly after, a TD pass was allowed, but no review and the receiver trapped it. The officials were so slow to react it was skipped. The list went on and on... The countdown on the Peavy trade is now down to 5 days. I figure he will be gone by the 14th. So sad. However, whoever gets him will have the gift of the season.
