There's this stud pitcher that's throwing for the White Sox ...who just shut out the playoff bound (maybe) Detroit Tigers. ..this guy be Jake Peavy ...this guy who was traded by the bargain basement wheeler dealer, Kevin Towers ...who now is out of a job...as the Padres finally came to their senses and unloaded him...as the redirection of the San Diego squad goes on...which brings me to the Chargers who fly to the dangerous land of Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers ...who just happen to be 6 1/2 favorites...which is the exact point spread of South Florida over Syracuse ...who has as their QB the former PG of the mighty hoop team of Duke ...who is a 16 1/2 point dog to Virginia Tech ...but Virginia is a 13 point dog to North Carolina ....and North Carolina St. is a 3 point dog to Wake Fores t...and speaking of forests...the Dux host Washington St (+35) ...and oh by the way, Washington is a 12 1/2 point dog to the hated Irish from Notre Dame ...where the Colts are ...

Well, those who know me knew this was going to come up...is it OK for teams and colleges to continue to use the Native American symbols as their name and mascot? As the Cleveland Indians (MLB) have used the "Indian" image since it's inception the argument of tradition is the ongoing reason...or the Washington Redskins (NFL) using the most descriptive of them all...or the North Dakota Fighting Sioux (NCAA) using the tribal symbol...or the Atlanta Braves (MLB) using the obvious...or the Florida St. Seminoles (NCAA)...well, here goes...being a Native American ....my thoughts go to comparative representations of like...whites or blacks or Jews or Mormons or ...even worse...you wouldn't allow that so how is this allowed? In reality it probably was supposed to be a fighting nature of sorts...but you could make a case for a lot of garbage...so enough with the tradition crap and find another symbol that would be easier to swallow... get real people ! A much needed face lift was applied to the Padres ...the old guard was traded away or suffered through some injuries...fact is...the Pads are an extremely competitive team now...live arms in the pen, an exciting duo at 2b/SS, solidity from 1B/3B...and speed and power from the OF...throw in an improving catching crew...and you have a team that has won 36 out of it's last 59 games...and now the new owners are reducing the price of season tickets...and probably will change the uniforms...all good stuff as the resurrection continues ... I have great concerns about the Bolts game at Pitt. ..if they can just weather the storm they have a bye the week after and may...just may...get some of their injured guys back... We head back up to the great northwest next week and look forward to seeing our friends, playing the course, basking in the cool autumn weather, and seeing our friends... Yuck...it's bill paying day today... And yes, Dodgers you aren't dancing in our house!

Th e LA Dodgers are planning on their celebration of winning the west...problem is...nobody is giving in...3 straight games and no popping of the cork...last night Manny and the boys were............................................... knocked off by the resurgent Padres 3-1 ...they have one more game against the Pads tonight and then they are out of town...and hopefully, the festivities don't happen here...only the Red Sox fans are worse... As I go back and think about when I first new of and listened to CSN , I remember the awesome harmonies that they had. In a similar fashion other groups emerged with the same type of 3, or even, 4 part harmony... POCO , America , 3 Dog Night , there was a long list...fact is, like so many groups, most of the great songs they recorded were within a 2 1/2 year span...yet, they withstood the space of time and are classics...and people still love them...and as a group, the people still go and watch them in concert...one of those venues is Humphrey's , here in San Diego ...most of the guy attendees have the white hair and the Tommy Bahama shirts...most of the gals have jeans and, well, all sorts of color in their hair...and loads of botox ....still, everyone, and I mean everyone, sings along to the songs... teach your children well... It's tonight and I can't wait ...

So did you try to figure out how the Fed-Ex Champion could win the $10 million prize? Phil (Lefty) won the final Tour Championship event yesterday...and if Tiger finishes 9th or worse...then Lefty wins the Fed-Ex ...but... Tiger came in 2nd and thus won the big prize...OK, clean it up and make this event something that everyone and anyone can figure out... The Chargers continued their red-zone problems, yet still managed a win vs. Dolphins the over at the Q...helped greatly by the injury to QB Chad Pennington , the Bolts picked apart his replacement Chad Henne ...curious was that the fish quit using the single wing attack when Chad went down... Releasing a studio album for the 1st time in 4 or 5 years is none other than Barbra Streisand ...just 67 years young she has so much to offer and I am looking forward to the music...she however, brings up a point that I want to go to...Barbra has always been a strong supporter of the Democrats...and there are those out there that say...

This is the tell tale sign for the early season for the Chargers . Hosting a very tough Dolphins squad, the play of the defensive line will be the deciding factor...according to this blogger... So I got all my pix right yesterday ( 5-0 ) and am 16-4 for the collegiate season... What's with the Dux ? A huge win against the Bears ...just maybe the Boise St. Broncos are a real good team... USC is not what they have been in the past...boy did I miss on the Beavers ... The PGA championship is a barn burner with Lefty pushing himself into the mix... Tiger and Kenny Perry .. .O'Hair, Padraig ...all have a shot...cool stuff... Go Bolts !
