For such a draft in the NBA that was supposed to be an off one...well...it turned into a night of surprises...starting with the top pick by the Cleveland Cavs...Michael Bennett  of UNLV...what?...I saw them play plenty this year...and I just don't get that pick...even when he is healthy...which he is not...go figure...PDX picked another bloke like what they got last year...an unheard of kid from a smaller D-1 place...Lehigh...whatever...no big step...and they will flounder about again... I wore my Duck Golf Shirt out to the club yesterday...in honor of the ruling that was to be bequeathed upon Mighty Oregon ...it's football team...and yup, I kept checking the iphone to see what the ruling of the NCAA was to be...about at the turn it came out...a "Quack Slap" on the wrist...what?...now I am not complaining... BUT ...with all the serious crap in and about the corrupt collegiate game of football...from the college prezzes to all the clowns who maintain the archaic bowl system still in use...I think that every single team in D-1 football cheats...it's about getting caught...and...oh by the way...with the AAU summer series, it is WORSE in the hoops world...I digress... the ruling was that the U of O was put on 3 years of probation...loss of a scholarship a year (right?)...a condemnation of the former coach, Chip Kelly...he is banned from getting a collegiate job for 18 months...unless, he and the school can show just cause ... AND ... no post season ...

In my continued search for competent TV shows...I ran into something that was on the Discovery Channel ...a live thinger...the walk over the Grand Canyon...on a tightrope...with no netting...it was 23 minutes of pure terror... Nik Wallenda ...his constant praying was part of his stabilizing technique...watch the replay...all of it...and you will see the amazing accomplishment... More of the same for the Padres ...as they split the series with the Bums...as our starter, Cashner, pitched great for 8 innings ...left with a 1-1 tie...91 pitches...here's my beef...the score tied in the bottom of the 7th...our leadoff guy gets on...no outs...and we try a hit and run...in lieu of a bunt, to get him in scoring position...and the hitter misses and the runner is thrown out... crap like that is what Buddy does ...and never has to answer to it ...then in the 9th...our closer, Gopher Ball Street ...gave up back to back HR's....and we lost 3-1...these are the 9th and 10th homers he has...

I found this new....to me...series on HBO ... The Newsroom ...with an all star cast... Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber)...is the featured one...stories within a story...I saw the 5/1 episode...like this show so much am going to buy the entire set... geez, I must be TV bored ...true statement... We went to the Padre game last night...actually a 4:15 start due to national TV...Fox...they showed this one, cuz the last time the Bum's pitcher faced us here, there was a big brawl...who says the public doesn't like a hockey type of lead in....and Zach Greinke (the beaner) was Pad unhittable ....and they whupped us 6-1...sold out crowd...literally 70% LA fans...boo...you'd think that I-5 would have been a bumper to bumper fiasco...nope, the Bums have a huge following right here in SD...it's true...boo...now... if we can get today's game, we will have won the series, again...
