Memorial Weekend

Listen all, you must show some common sense these 3 days, in particular...as you recognize the fallen on this Memorial Day Weekend...there have been restrictions lifted...BUT...double masking in public places is a MUST!...don't let your guard down...especially, if you get one or two drinks under your belt...ah, why is this a saying?...I digress...I was noticing people getting out, and eating at the restaurants....as shown on Facebook...mask less...NO!...do your part...it is for the best of ALL of us...

There will be a rush to the coast...well, at least in the warm states...please please please, work at this...keep your distance...I guess I can't say enough...out at the golf course, we follow that double masking to a T...why T?...I digress again...anyhoo...do it...

Am really looking forward to the Tiger/Lefty golf match tomorrow...with the 2 QB's, Tom Terrific and Peyton...they carrying their own bags or driving carts?...I dunno...and the word is, that the one and only, Chas Barkley is involved somehow...maybe he will break down the swings, via the computer screen...ha ha...hey, at least this one is free...they charged last time...but a glitch happened, and it aired for free...serves them right...

Joe Biden, the understood Prez candy man for the Demos...is trying to figure out his running mate...has said it will be a woman...this you all know...and the rumor out is that a couple of women have been 'vetted'...good lord, I have heard more terms in the past 3 and 1/2 years...mostly due to Big Orange...but, this one is all politics...the best line I heard yesterday, was from Meghan McCain 'don't make the same mistake my dad made with the Palin thing!'...true dat...do your proper 'vetting' Joe...

Holy moly...our condo has opened up the Barbecues!...been closed down for the entire pandemic...oh my, expect our place to smell like steak or chicken...as we live right above them...the catch is, one must sign up for a time...you can imagine the lineup...six ft apart, adorned with their masks, and aprons...with their spatulas and bar-b-q sauce ready for action...hey, what ever happened to the scare of no meat?...

Changing up like a lot here...we got a memo in the mail, Neuman...showing all the sales in the past couple of months...here in downtown SD...and the listings...the amazing thing?...the prices are the same...yes, when the timing for us is right...we will list again...just not now...for you who know us well, we move after 5 years...and are way past that time limit...

Why is it when you are told you can't have it, you WANT it?...know what I mean?...it's what I am thinking about going to Maui...they won't let you in....well, you have to quarantine for 14 days after arriving...so one must buy a month, to get 2 weeks...get it?...no way...but, I WANT to go there...when all this is over...there was an article out today, that a gal was arrested for not doing the pre-mentioned...somewhere in Hawaii...geez...

Speaking of being arrested...the Laughlin Case...the parents paying illegally to get their kids into college...'they' worked out a deal...she gets 2 months, and he gets 5 months...and fined...$400 grand...give me a break...fine 'em and fuggit the imprisonment...with the present conditions and all...I guess the judicial system has to show some teeth, as they sure don't when they deal with Big Orange...

The passing of one of the toughest players and coaches in the NBA...Jerry Sloan...a terrific guard for the Bulls and just as tenacious as a coach for the Jazz...his teams mimicked his personal playing style...tough, rugged, and always prepared...

Not sure how many of the businesses don't file for bankruptcy...hey, how many times did Donny over the years?...I digress... but the word out, is that the car rental company, Hertz, is...hey, that is the one I use...in the complicated method of bankruptcy, they seem to resurrect over time...well, Donny did...

Making Sense

Morning, kids...the Horse made a little mistake yesterday and is paying for it this am...opened up the Suntory Toki for a taste...which led to a comparison to a US made one...then, to a 'Two Georges' one...(jorj?)...and then, well you get my drift here...me head is achin' a tad...very bad Horse...anyhoo, the Toki was not good...nope...will have to save it for the good fellow from the PNW for his opinion...ah, this quarantine!...

The restaurants and retail stores are all abuzz around here...as they prepare for their openings...figuring out how to do it...the social distancing notwithstanding...well, there is NO standing allowed...thus, all the bars are still shuttered...gosh, that will change 5th Avenue so much...wonder if they will close the street totally, and put chairs out?...I see that 'they' are doing that somewhere in the East Village...stay tuned...

I saw on Facebook the item that had me a bit concerned...wonder how much truth there is to it...saying that they don't use masks in public settings...as I was talking to a health care worker that lives in our building...she said that the most important thing that they do, is recommend 'double masking'...meaning, that you and everyone else, wear a mask...pay attention, kids...this is the way that we must follow...

Tragedy out of Pakistan...as a passenger jet went down...over 100 people aboard....is it just me, or does this happen way too often...well, once is too much...BTW, where are those Max Jets of Boeing, anyway?...still grounded?...

This is a brag...the perfect steak cookout...since we have NO outside grill...that is another story...we had some very nice New York Strips to consume...I think they were 'choice', but certainly not prime...marinaded them for 4 hours, in teriyaki and Worcestershire (sp, -1) sauces...then, using a Le Creuset...sear each side...then pop in a 475* oven for, now this is the crucial part, 8 minutes...perfectly done, medium rare...

To honor my Japanese bourbon pour...Snooki's song of the day...'Sukiyaki' by Kyu Sakamoto...one of my very favorite melodies, ever...especially, as I really luv the songs of that time period in '63...too...the US did covers of it, later...Taste of Honey and then, Bobby Caldwell...just not as good...hmmm, should that be well?...I dunno...

Bad news for Big Orange...as his, might I say, former?...news source, Fox News...let out a poll that is devastating for Donny...down 8 points to Joe Biden...even worse, was the poll that said the public 'trusted' Biden by 17 points more on health care than B.O....I figure he will come out blazing today...throwing his rhetoric all over the place...mask or no mask...

Well now, it is a Friday...the gateway to the weekend...a golf day, too...hey, don't talk too loud, my head is needing quiet...have a good one...

Throwback, Way Back

I am going to be perfectly honest with you...not sure why I would say that, cuz I am ALWAYS so...anyhoo...way way back, like in the early days...there is this pix of moi...as we were on a trip to...San Diego!...mid 70's...in our VW camper van...would never have imagined that we would end up...there...or, here...listen, kids...I don't ever remember having a full beard...true dat...well, here is proof that I did...not sure who had this pix...maybe Marsh...notice the nice short shorts, ah for the men at that era of time...and, the dark hair...gone, all gone...ha ha...now this is a Throwback Thursday...

Watched a show that features the old Tonight Show host, Jay Leno...more honesty here...I did not think he was funny...nor, a good host...and a far cry from his predecessor, the great Johnny Carson...NBC should have hired David Letterman...but, that is another story...back to Leno...he has this series that has him with 'famous' people...riding in cars and trucks...he tries to be funny...notice I said 'tries'...he comes off as an ____________. ...needless to say, a one night look see...and not again...

Recall this?...the 'getting into college scandal for their kids' by the parents...in my estimation, a waste of the court system...well, one of the 'famous' parents...that has been fighting the accusation for some time now...has relented and is pleading 'guilty'...Lori Laughlin and her hubby...fine 'em and get on with life, judges...no jail time...save those cells for the bad politicians...not naming names...ha ha...

Sports...college football...the backbone of the monetary survival of many of the big colleges and universities...'they' are trying to find a way to open up during this era of time...I laughed at the notion set forth by THE Ohio State...that they would limit the numbers in the stadium...normally, they get 100,000 rabid fans...and, now, would limit that to 20 to 30 thousand...ah, imagine the dough that it would take to get in...you would have to be a BIG donator...right?...just a tip of the iceberg...playing in front of a NO CROWD, is a possible...something is amiss...as that means the players are at risk...just a tad...

I can't take credit for this...but, here goes...'hey USA, quit buying shredded cheese, and make America grate again'...OK, moaner...

San Diego county is now opening up to Code 2...we have codes...which means we can open up restaurants...and retail stores...not sure, is this a mall, too?...but, not bars...all with restrictions...other parts of the USA have already gone and done this...and, damn it all, already a mall shooting in Arizona, yesterday...do we ever have real change?...hey, I was out at the course yesterday...left at 12:15, and that was the time that the casino opened up...there was a mass amount of cars streaming out there...yea, that's right...they must have got their stimulus checks...

Has anyone seen Rudy Giuliani?...hey, this just got out...that Big Orange's former personal attorney, Michael Cohen...was released from prison...to his home for confinement (due to the virus)...what is partially interesting...is how quickly Trump dropped him, after 12 years of service...and now...Cohen is writing a tell all book about Donny...you see, I wrote about his two lawyers in the same paragraph...

All you forever trumpites, turn away...with this article...if elected Prez, Joe Biden could be picking the NEW president in waiting...a WOMAN, if he does so pick...TEN VP picks have ended up nominated for Prez...Nixon, Johnson, Humphrey, Ford, Mondale, Bush, Dole, Gore, and with any hope, Biden...the highlighted indeed ended up Prez...just a thought to get you through this Throwback Thursday....

Had this on me mind, and forgot to add it...your 'smart' phones...will switch to 5G from 4G, a good chance of that later this year...the diff is unclear...I have read it will be 20 times faster...up to 100 times...the downloading will be miraculous...the down part?...just may be that the connection could be lost...what?...stay tuned...

Finally...the NBA wants to finish up their season...the games would be at a 'hub'...one city...rumors are that we are talking 3 possible sites...Orlando, Houston, or Las Vegas...you must have enough gyms, hotels, and restaurants...

The Complaining is Over

Stop the search...yes, kids...the stimulus arrived!...I had heard of others this week, getting the check...lo and behold in our checking account...voila!...it was there...direct deposit...and yea, I have heard of those of you out there, that got the hard copy...the one signed by Big Orange...but still...have not seen one on the web net...if you received one like that, make a copy and send the facsimile to moi...somehow...redact your name, of course...

In the sports world, there is a lot of talk about starting up MLB...beisbol...gosh, there are so many hangups during the pandemic...I don't see how they are going to do it...just the numbers on the bench pose a problem...6 ft apart?...where do they stay on the roadies?...are the hotels even open?...very few around here...if any...restaurants?...the list is enormous...seems to me, that there has to be a lot of 'opening ups' for this to succeed...

My good friend out of the PNW...mentioned the whiskey made in Japan...said it was really super, and I did not say superior...so, in the jaunt to the market, they had one for sale, like $25 off!...so I got one bottle...to test...Suntory Whisky TOKI...have no idea yet...it is still unopened...it's color is a little light...which means?...I dunno...we shall see...

BTW, he (the PNW lad) got his act together finally...and sent...Snooki's song of the day...'What Ever Happened' by Brian Wilson and Al Jardine....two of the original Beach Boys...geez, I actually have a tee shirt with the name of that album, No Pier Pressure...true dat...there are many 'new' vids of them on You Tube...but, believe me, they are better in person...especially the vibe of the crowd...yes, we have seen them at least 15 times...and counting...not to surpass his Song, but you must give a spin to 'That's Why God Made The Radio'...one of their last collaborations...a 'new' stuff...

Please please please...even you Trump fans...fuggit about the hydro____ as a deterrent...the story is that many people are following his lead...and buying and using...c'mon...

Surging Stocks

It was a banner day for the Stock Market...one might call it 'surging'...almost up 1,000 points in the DOW...help me out here, just...WHY?...as the World is embroiled in this catastrophe...some say it was due to the mention of a vaccine for it was imminent...others say it was due to the rumor of the Fed staying stable...yea, who knows?...this blogster says it's the rich doing what they do...wheeling and dealing in their own little world...but, I am like most of you, we don't know what and why...today?...the Futures say it will be a level day...

Big Orange...oh my...his latest commentary is making waves...as he confessed to taking the malaria drug...for his protection from the virus...hydro_______...whatever it is called...his doctors are baffled, as it is not scientifically proven, as a deterrent...but, c'mon, when has he ever followed orders...or, science?...Nancy Pelosi, the, well, you know who she is...called his personal cure, as dangerous for a morbidly obese president...in so many words...top it all off, so did one of his Fox News henchmen...and Donny went ballistic!...he wants to find a news source only for his good word...I can't make this stuff up...makes you want to go out and buy a Trump 2020 cap, right?...I digress...

I missed the boat on my commentary about the golf match of Rory/DJ/Rickie...true about the bland talk back and forth of the players...but, the real thing...is the amount of money that was raised for the event...that went to the health workers battling the virus...millions...that was the real issue...which was simply awesome...

Am listening to the Sara Evans new album as I write this am...listen, kids, you must get it...it is dynamite!...this is my 2nd time...and, it is getting better and better...'Don't Get Me Wrong'...so many songs...a cover album can be monotonous and give one a wish for the originals....this one is different...'She's Got You'...she really does...

How about this...in downtown SD, the cost of petrol for regular is $3.49...in El Cajon, where I travel to play golf, it is $2.59!...90 cents a gallon diff, kids...!...something is amiss...add another 60 cents to the stations over by the airport, and you have your full fledged gougers...c'mon people...

Finished the last season of Bosch...the 6th...absolutely terrific series...the final scene, the music played...'What A Wonderful World', made famous by Louis Armstong...but, in this, was sung by...well, it sounded like the star of the show, Titus...but, it was really Chris Botti...fun ending...'fun?'...well, it was entertaining...there you go...

This will test you Salemites that read me...a 'back when' moment...the stage...we made a beef stew yesterday...which by the way, was terrific!...but, have loads left over...so, will use the high powered grinder...whatever it is called...and make a soup that has tiny little chunks in it...a 'steak soup'...that highly resembles one, that was served at 'Chelsea's'...way back in time...remember that?...one of my favs...accompany with some 'Famous Dave's' cornbread...mighty tasty, all...

Monday Morn

Hey all, it's a new week...and we hope for newness?...right?...of course we do...so Facebook has come up with something to occupy your mind...a personal emoji, to use as your picture...kind of fun...takes a bit of time, to put yourself in it...is it just me, or are most of these...pix of the participants looking quite youngish?...ha ha...add the facial lines, kids...it's OK...I did mine, and have to admit...I resemble the colonel of the fried chicken store...back to the drawing board...I wanna look young, too...the real name of these silly things, is avatar...

Idol 'crowned' their winner...Just Sam...yes, I think that she was the best...but, the final show, was quite boring...outside of the final number, 'We Are The World', written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson...and sung by the Idol finalists and some Idol alumni...it was great...but, unlike many of their other final shows, the alumni did not perform, otherwise...too bad, as that is what I turned in for...must have been way too hard to put together...

BTW, an odd reaction to the announcement of the final winner...they were down to two...and when Ryan read the winner's name...the 2nd place guy, and his entourage went crazy!...wonder if they heard the wrong winner's name?...no mention of it on the broadcast...

If I was...well, stop that...listen, Big Orange...your kids talking does NOT help you...try as they may...Eric, the other one...said that Covid will mysteriously stop when the elections are over...suggesting that it is a figment in the imagination of the Demos...oh my...shut up...and go away...

Hey all, so the Golf Network decided to air a 'LIVE' golf match...between 4 of the better Pros out there...Rory, DJ, Rickie, and M Wolfe...ah, the last dude, NOT in the same breath...but, what the heck...the thing that got me, was the lack of the characters that the tour has...these are nice guys, but not the personalities that do exist...it's OK through...and I did watch some of it...oh yea, the dudes carried their own bags...!...

Later on is a similar event, Tiger, Lefty, and the 2 Qb's, TT and Peyton...I think it shall be more entertaining...just a guess...

Also, somewhat 'LIVE' is the finals of Idol...down to 7...will quickly drop 2...then the last 5 will battle it out...as the production has to scramble to make it a go...very hard to do...this is tonight...expect some Idol alumni to show up and perform, too...not Kelly or Carrie, but it will suffice...yes, I will watch this...hey, the star on the rise, Gabby Barrett, is scheduled...you can judge my judgment...

What on earth is behind Big Orange's attack of Prez O?...he has no clue...and is so embarrassing...every other country laughs at him...I fear at us, too...please please please...he does NOT represent the country...just his little world around him...his two kids, and the...well, you know....VOTE!...we need all of you...

Sara Evans has released an album of covers...seriously some good stuff...not all of them, but the one that she did of the Pretenders....is damn good...check it out, kids...iTunes, or wherever...

The casinos are opening up this next week...in our area...can't imagine this being a good thing...every other one armed bandit, will be shuttered...no poker...no bingo...
