Weekender

The Beavs covered the spread, and even, should have beat the Utes. Manny is the best hitter in baseball right now. The Pads refuse to spend money on hitters. They have to buy into Fuson's system. That would leave Manny and Vladimar... and many other real hitters out! What a joke! What happened to the Cubs? In MLB it's all about who finishes the best. Or who bought who prior to the end of the season... Can the Ducks cover at USC? Take the over with the Chargers/Dolphins. Titans over the Olys. It's always a weekend here. Go stocks go!

The Spread

I have found the point spread by Vegas always interesting. Just like I have said to follow the money in politics, do likewise with the points in sports. This week some games just pop out: The Beavs getting 11 (after whupping USC) at Utah SDS getting 24 1/2 at TCU Michigan GETTING 2 1/2 at home vs Illinois The Ducks getting 16 1/2 at USC Cal giving 9 at home vs ASU Chargers at Miami totals pts only 45 1/2 and special, Palin getting 35 vs Biden I'm just saying...

The Problem

I have been studying the problem of the demise of the Pads. I have been pointing most of the issues toward Bud Black. Yes he has been a major part of the situation, not pulling pitchers correctly, staying with pitchers too long, not replacing under-producing players such as Greene and all the catchers, the list goes on and on. But, the real problem is the cast he has been given. The GM, Towers, has shown inept ability to get the right players in the fold. I explain. The Petco Park is a pitcher friendly one. Speed and line drive hitters should dominate the lineup. We have no speedsters. We have low average hitters who favor the long ball over the line drives. Towers points his finger at how poorly his signers have been playing. It is time that he owns up to his mistakes. However, he shows little of this. He is the problem. A new direction is needed.

OMG the bottom?

The stock market superseded it all with the huge drop of 777 points. Is this the bottom? With all the housing problems can this be it? The Pads resigned BFB and his entourage, much to my surprise and dismay. Is this the bottom? The Raiders interviewed 3 assistants for the non-opening head coaching job....is this the bottom? The lobbyists are turning this congress in and out. The puppets are being pulled many different directions. In the mean time the country is diving...to the bottom? Speaking of the bottom, Sarah Palin debates on Thursday. DWTS keeps Cloris from her deserved spot...on the bottom.

Manic Monday

The Pads finished the way they started this season, poorly. Kooz ended with a 1 for 24 hitting spree, with 10 k's. He hit .194 for the month. OMG, they have to make moves! Chargers with a big comeback in the Raider's game covered and won by 10... The next 2 days will have a bunch of coaches losing their jobs. Mark my words. DWTS tonight. The Burke sisters are in the lead. Thursday the VP debate. I think this will be the largest audience of them all. People just love to watch a train wreck. Coming in from nowhere, the Colombian Conquistador whupped the front runners for the golf tourney. Serg kinda choked again.

Last Dance

So here it is. The last game of this season. Last night a nice win for the Pads. 3-2. Kooz...hit a 2 run tater on the 1st pitch in the 1st. He is 1-20 in his season ending aberration. Bell and Hoffman preserve Young's win. I have been hard on Hoffman and now I don't know. That probably means they will get rid of him. An article about the Pads management in the Trib. I really do think the problem is with Alderson and Fuson. Let's just see what happens in the next few days. Yes, the Aztecs feasted on Idaho. Nice. Chargers line has risen to 8 and 1/2. Go with them. The Ducks also had a big win at Wazzou. Boy are the Cougs bad. Serg, Lefty, and AK in a shootout in Atlanta. A tossup in my book. Have a grand Sunday.
