A Picture

Image
There are too many things to write about this morning...this pix is from the kids dining room...the oil rigs, with their lights, off the coastline...as you see, I am up early... This land that they live in...their posse...are all young and vibrant...families...that have so much life, it is fun to be a part of...granted a few days max...and realize that was us, 40 some years ago...reality smacks me in the face... For so many elders, fathers and mothers...how and why would we fit in?...perhaps, we wouldn’t...might this be a conundrum?...false narrative...relocating and being a burden?...man, how many elders feel just like that?... The good Dr Cris, has a rad group of young dudes...10 or so...that meet up to play a great round of golf...literally 80 yards past me...hit the ball and drag the elder...it’s cool to see and hear them...but, I do not fit... There was a party at the club...terrific venue for the parents and their kids...us, with years on them, watch and enjoy the show... I think...

A CHURCH BURNS

Not a church, but THE church...where Boss and I were married, just 20 days less than 49 years ago...St Joseph’s...Catholic one in Salem, Oregon...arson, it is being reported...built in ‘53...a real staple to the community...ever since then...BURNED...why would someone do that?...unfathomable...as we watch the society that we grew up in...get turned upside down, again and again... The train ride here to Montecito is a no brainer...sit back and let the pressure of driving, melt away...took about 6 hours...but worth every penny...with the cost of petrol, it may even be cheaper!... The kids keep growing...duh...the baby Cas, finally seems to recognize us...as I am writing, I can here him coo and talk in his crib...he does seem so happy...the older one, Cy, is smitten with Boss...really is cool to see the interaction...the Horse is a bit later... Did see that Utah beat Florida...man, them Utes just reload...I always underestimate them...football...and this is imminent...Stanford, Cal, and S...

The Newspaper Doom

Image
PBS got me a thinking...as the written word, via the newspaper...is becoming...a thing of the past ... DOOMED ...does your home town have one?...or is it printed elsewhere?... here in Diego, we have the Trib ...owned by?...bought out and sold by the LA Times...I think a Chicago based company owns it now...but small towns?... Funded by local businesses, who may be just as DOOMED ...shuttered, in lieu of the online shopping sites...well, so is the NEWS...online .. .thus, the newspaper has limited appeal, and AVAILABILITY! ...but much deeper...is this thing called reliability ... We are dependent on writers, columnists, who have earned our trust...in the written word ...locally, for sure...but now, that has been giving way...to national writers...via the web net... but, how about YOUR city?...where and by whom do YOU get the scoops of what is really going on?... So, these fine writers to be, seek others ways of doing a craft...life's work...it is becoming extinct ... my personal choic...

The 120 MPH Winds

Image
Having gone through a 120 MPH wind storm...and the devastation it caused...the Floridian one, Idalia? , has hit what they call 'The Big Bend Region'...north of Tampa...and I know what it was like...for some to have remained, and tried to ride this out...I fear for their safety... The Gulf of Mexico waters...are extremely warm...which only fuels this catastrophic Category 3 storm ... the 9th of the region THIS YEAR! ...have my fingers crossed, for the area...I'm sure you will see enough pix and vids of what it did... In my hometown of Salem, Oregon...we were in the infamous 'Columbus Day Storm' ... which totally dismantled so many structures and TREES...this too, was the 120 MPH winds thang ...because nothing like this, happened seemingly ever, there...we were not evacuated...yes, it was terrifying...I was a 10th grader at the time...never forget... So the rest of the country...will be meeting and having a bubbly or two...smoke some cigars (the surgeon general advise...

Cheerios

Image
The plan is to have some cereal to start the day off, like correctly ... 'basically' , ah don't ever say that to Judge Judy...now I ruined the breakfast...hate Judge Judy...and now I am in a funk... I'm back...something about the ingredients of Cheerios , that makes the day ...so, I went to the super to seek out the stuff...turns out there are like gaggles of kinds of it...too many to choose from... so, the Horse is reading the contents...Regular, Honey Nut, flavor added, and on and on...don't see sugar coated ones...sugar is bad for you ...well, too much of it...don't you add sugar to your coffee?...like them mocha, or white mocha ones?...I digress... Now, I am on a sugar rant ...you can't drink regular Coke or Pepsi...too much sugar...and you can't drink Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi...too much fake sugar...aspartame... thus, 'they' want you to drink water...but not tap water...water that comes in the bottles...but, wait, 'they' don't w...

The Next One

Image
Rarely, does the Horse make this type of prediction...the next ONE in golf...not since the domination of the sport ...by Tiger ...has there been someone step up... now, there is, kids...and he is from Norvay. ..ah, Viktor Hovland. ...and took a tremendous round by SDSU's X man...and stood tall, and won by 5...in the PGA Finals...a cool $18 million buck bonus, to boot ...yup, he is the one...ah, ONE! ...mark my words...8/28/23... The courts are listening to Mark Meadows and his attorneys ...BTW, do any of these blokes have any shame?...it's all about the $, I reckon...trying to get the case in Georgia MOVED...to a better republican climate...wait, I thought that Atlanta was split?...right, they need more in their favor...try DeSantis's Florida (DF)... For all of the hullabaloo of the storms here, Florida is about to get hit, perhaps, twice ...by a real set...egads... Did I say that the Friars are cooked? ...yup...and now the frustrations will be on display...bickering, poin...

Sussudio

Image
Part of our package deal over at the Shell, was what we went over and saw in concert ...at the divine place on the bay...man, the pad is just gorgeous...we have terrific seats, with a table that are just a bit above the row ahead of us...enough for the setup... it was a Phil Collins and Genesis tribute, with a couple of singers...a conductor...and the San Diego Symphony ...I was skeptical about going...not being that cognizant of his songs...when I heard them, I thought otherwise... very similar to the feelings I had, when we went to see Air Supply...'oh, yea, I know those hits'... Believe me, it was a fun nite...the 2 singers were polished and the Symphony was awesome ...doing 2 solos themselves...who'd a thunk...after returning home, Boss Lady did a Google on Collins...geez, what a screwed up life...guess that is the genesis for the songs...and...we stayed til the last number...not since the Beach Boys, have we done that... Sussudio was downright a blast... OK, I may not ...
