Aw, the fresh new look of the San Diego Padres ...what?...is it baseball already?...the NBA is only half way through...well, their All Star extravaganza is 60 % in the season...and the playoffs last forever....so...it's OK....as the spring training is starting, er, started up...the pitcher and catchers have already begun... Optimism ...that's the word out of the Pad's camp...as they have a five man rotation set...and a decent closing group...and the shhhh of the catchers....Grandal may just in fact be ready for the opener...shhh.... You know I am less than happy about the lack of live coverage for the O's ...as...turn away...the US beat the Russians in hockey...and won't show it until later...actually, I may watch it... The stock market had it's best week of this new year...what?...why?...you tell me... For all of you that are getting hit with the weather ...we have our own little dilemma....actually, the lack of rain is a major problem...Prez O is vi...

I promise NOT to be sarcastic...this is my vow to you... Happy Valentine's Day! ...well, not to YOU ...but the day, indeed...is a day that is always needed...just not you from me...but this sentiment is from, or should be, from you to your mate ....as the Idol judges said the other night...the times are changing...as they passed through a lesbian (self professed) singer...we all need love...so how do you think about that?...anyway...put your brain to use here... name the top 10 romantic singer or singers of all time ...eegads...bet you'd have trouble naming one from this era...but me, being a baby boomer, I can list quite a few...here is mine, in no particular order... The Righteous Brothers ...at least 6 great ballads...and they were the mood setter of my earlier years in life...even popped on the record player their greatest hits album..."You've Lost That Lovin Feelin"...has to be one of the elite....and is there any better than "Unchained Melody...

Life is like a box of chocolates ... Ginny, you can have your pick ...well...one of the best gifts to give your mate...is just that... my mom lurved the choc covered cherries...my sis would use her finger nail and test what was in it ...and you can get the Whitman's, or go off the deep end and get the high dollar stuff ...it's your choice, right?...but, does your mate get ticked, er saddened, if you don't get the spendy stuff?...rumor has it, M desires the dark chocolate ...anyway, it's another possible for the big day...it is big, right?... I keep telling you...if PDX has to depend on Aldridge , they are one and done...another example last eve...as they lost at home to OKC (Soopersonics) ...and LA was dreadful ...and yet, they still went to him with the game on the line...he was like 5/23 or so...the Thunder pitted their old center on him...pushed him around and he was taking 25 ft fallaways...and then... if they don't hedge , they are even further down the l...

This is the election day for the SD Mayor race....thank goodness it's coming to an end...the non-stop negative ads are wrecking me brain...one day, yes one day, some lobbyist is going to say "let's do this in a positive way"...ha ha... Shirley Temple (Black) died yesterday...85...as we were growing up, she was the dahlin of the screen...and for sure, of the B/W television flicks... One of the better collegiate football players...out of Mizzou...announced he was gay...and did so prior to the infamous combines of the pros...and every single news source covered this...including CH...the 1st openly named gay possible pro prospect ...how is this going to affect his draft position?...they say he was a 3rd or 4th rounder prior to his announcement...well...let's see where he is taken...a lot of questions remain...it is a brutal sport... Twice...yes, twice...I have turned on the tube (?) and watched the Winter O's ...and each time, it was the same ice skater ...

Conversion

I kind of skipped over the 50 year thing of ... The Beatles ...as so many life changing things happened fifty years ago... the JFK murder, the beginning of the Beach Boys, the impending doom of our involvement in Vietnam, the expansion of the evening news from 15 to 30 minutes ...and on and on...actually, the TV turning from B and W to color...things that may be taken for granted now... Back to the topic...they were the embodiment of so much conversion... from the guys short hair cuts, to the long, shaggy style...to soul songs being sung by other than the originals....where bands played their own music...and they had which so many didn't ... charisma ... They lasted much longer than the old rule of 3 years and yer out ...as they kept producing and getting in more depth for about 7 years...really...the picture of Abbey Road is in the latter part...but for none of us that ever set foot on England soil, still could tell you where this is... As Ed Sullivan announced to the US...

Back in the day, it was the way to conserve fuel... by buying a 4 banger. ..get your mind out of the gutter...it was the way of the land...4 cylinder engines, in lieu of the 6 and 8's...which used up so much of the recently high priced commodity, gasoline fuel...and lines were formed to fill up your tanks...it was 24 cents a gallon...really....in my time of changing cars as often as my caps...I had a number of them...here is my F 85. ..there you go, nostalgia... Just so happens, the movie that I talked about yesterday, The Back Up Plan , was on the tube last eve...and we watched it in it's entirety...starring JLo ...it was wonderful...and definitely a Valentine's Day type...she is really a great actress...really... The Bill Grier's version of USD hoops lost a big one to Santa Clara...at home...gosh, they play hard...and with purpose (note that Ducks)...but are so limited to the talent...I don't think one of these blokes would start for most other teams...whi...
