Leave the driving to...them

Image
Must say...the passage way to Montecito is easier via the train...much easier...any method of skipping the LA traffic is a blessing...especially yesterday...as there was dense fog...which could only make it worse...BUT, via Amtrak, no problem...think the airplanes were down, too...5 1/2 hours of sitting back...on time and that's the 1st time I can recall it being so...yes, I get it...Cosmo was ticked... The kids have immense energy...2 and 5...wooah...so dang cute...today, we go to see Cy play hoops...and later...put up the tree...good stuff... Not so good...was the late nite din din at a 'fancy place' here in Montecito...in the affluent part of the state...the name is withheld to protect the innocent...peculiar fare, I would say...small portions, that beg one to think that it is about flavor,, not quantity...well...the crab cake (notice I said singular) was fishy....well sir, it did come from the sea...the meat and cheese plate was downright strange...weird stuff and not m...

Hitless

Image
Geez, that sounds like me softball game prowess...HITLESS!...good field, no hits...but, I am referring to the songs we all listen to...where on earth are the HITS?...you know, the ones that we can hum to...I can't recall a year like this...there are none...in fact, if you go to a concert, you are watching someone, or some group, doing there HITS of the past...perhaps, there are big ones in the dance halls...wait, is that what they are called?...clubs, there you go...speak easies?...good thumping music...but, HITS?...nope, remade ones that have been changed so you can do whatever they do on the dance floor...now... Speaking of hits, and misses...the plight of the lineup of the Friars...is a mystery...it's pretty obvious we are not paying big bucks to anyone...and this deferring millions of dollars to players (see P Blake Snell) is out of our league...well, out of any team's league, but the Bums and Damn Yankees...which get the best players and we, the rest of MLB, scramble f...

Curious History

Image
Good morning, all...as we waddle thru this ever eventful month of December...the Christmas one...have noticed more and more trees going up around the hood...with so many people in all these high rises a living...it makes for such a grand scene...the season...nothing like it...every single year... In my penchant for history...which I didn't have whence I was schooled...seemingly too busy to pay attention...to where, what, and why things are the way the are...or were...the Horse has been intrigued by the after the WWII where abouts of the many Nazis...once they were defeated... There was a name given for their escape out of Germany...'ratlines'...what a name, right?...this can be found in the book 'The Real Odessa'...which I have ordered...it has been reported that many of the Nazis were shipped to, and or flown, to South America...the numbers are hazy...but, most likely in the 10,000 range...the bulk went to Argentina...in order of numbers, then Brazil, followed by C...

Alfred

Image
In the never ending quest to watch good tele...we happened on a docu on the legend, Cary Grant...ah, Archie Leach...spurned us on...which led to a masterpiece of a golden oldie flick 'Notorious'...made in 1946...now I know you youngsters will want to smack me for saying this...but, 'they' don't make movies like this anymore...people interacting...with one another... The director?...none other than Alfred Hitchcock...who had a stream of great flicks...which is our NEW passion...watching his works...in the aforementioned 'Notorious', the lead actors were Cary Grant, and Ingrid Bergman...and a dude who was a major part of 'Casablanca...the infamous, Casablanca'...Bogey stuff...ah, not Humphrey, but, ah, shoot can't recall his name...I will later...yes, here he is...Claude Rains... One of the intriguing things about Alfred...is that he would do a cameo in all his films...pop up somewhere...in 'Notorious', he was sipping champagne at a dinner ...

Pardon Me, Boy

Image
Pardon me boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?...(yes, yes) Track 29... The Boss and I are heading on to Montecito to see the kids...gonna go by the rails...the Amtrak...the tracks...as we get to family fun...like put up the tree...decorate it...and just be jolly...so looking forward to it...yup, Cosmo gets the week off... One might have thought with the blog title for today, I was going to go another way...nope, you can read all about it...throughout most of the web sites I saw this morning...all I will say (again) is that I would have done it, too... Hey, a breakthrough...perhaps...Musk and Hootenanny are suggesting that they will solidify the time changes we have...you know, fall back and spring forward...to just one of them...and call it good...this I approve of...not that they are asking... Bo Nix is keeping on, keeping on...just as he was for the Ducks last season...leading the resurgent Broncos to wins...NFL, for you unawares...tickles me, as he was...

Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Image
For all of us football crazed fans...was there a better evening than watching the Bills/49ers game?...it was in a driving SNOW STORM!...of course, the burly boys of Buffalo prevailed...c'mon...not sure if the SF lads had much fun...well, any of the players...but, the folks from teevee land, sure did...what's more intriguing, was that the stands were FULL!...guess them peops are used to that weather... Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow... In the aftermath of the final regular season of D-1 games...many are the rivalry ones...the winners have a tendency of going too far...in their celebratory bliss...like planting a flag in the opponents 50 yard line...guess that means the winner is the visitor...mayhem follows...is it worse than the home team fans rushing the field?...at least, they aren't planting the bloody trump flag... No surprise here...Prez Biden is pardoning his son...he said he wouldn't...then, obviously, changed his mind...if it were me, I would have, too....

Is This Cashmere, Georgie?

Image
There is no better Xmas present, than getting your whatever a CASHMERE SWEATER...to take the chill off of these cold 60 degree nites...just light enough to wear, yet take the warmth to your body...just make sure, there is no red dot somewhere on it...unless, you get him, her, or whatever, a red sweater... My present to Boss came way too soon...so, she got it right away...good, and bad...it is din-o-mite!...BUT, that means I need to find something else...back to the drawing board... OK, I am delaying the inevitable...the Ducks rambled all over the Huskies...49-21...it was Coach Lanning's first win against UDub...a doozy, and that puts UO at the top of the heap...taking on all comers, and standing tall...a no doubter...and to play in the Big 18 Champ game...of course back east...in Indianapolis, Indiana...hey, do you see what I see...2 Indians in that name...next Saturday, vs Penn St...as, Ohio St got beat (again) by the Michigan Wolverines...got beat up, I should say...Mich dominate...
