Sunny Saturday

So the Blazers are not yet for prime time. Their loss to the Celtics tells us they have a lot of work to do. Florida and Alabama for the SEC crown. I am a believer in the Gators, but Alabama is the most unheard of No. 1 team ever. I think it is going to be a close one, cuz of ball control by the Crimson Tide. Best one of the weekend. Gotta go with the Gators with their speed... Oklahoma big over Missouri. Big mismatch as the Sooners play the huge games well...huge. Khalil happy to get out of SD. I think it is mutual... SDS versus USD tonight for the battle of the City in hoops. Gotta go with the USD five. If USC wins...the Dux are in SD...if they lose the Beavs are in the Rose...I win either way, and it's all about me. Enjoy the sun...78* today!!!

Addendum

Pete Carroll's NFL record was 33-31 with the Jets and the Pats. Dennis Erickson(ASU) was 40-56 in 2 different stints with the Seahawks.

Back in the Pac-10

The Bolts playing as if they should have all year last night in a 34-7 slap over the hapless Raiders. They are still alive and need a KC upset over the Broncs. As the D1 season settles into playoff time (oops I mean bowl time) the unfortunate coaches get the boot from their respective jobs. SDS is looking, so is UDUB, so are many others. So what's the trick to success? 2-5 years ago they were the saviour to that college and then wham! they are gone. Looked so promising then. What is the ticket? Recruiting. Just investigating the Pac-10 the bulk of the rosters are kids from...California. Look at the facts: U of O 57, OSU 37, UDUB 44, Ariz 49, ASU 48...that's not counting the Cali schools who are 95% from that state. So you get hired, you get into Cali and flood the market with your coaches and come up with the best you can. Why would they pick U of O over UCLA? When over 50% of your players go there what would be the attraction? It rains there and is cold...it's all about wh...

Thursday NFL

The Bolts give it a try tonight hosting the Raiders. This is the last chance for them and are a 9 1/2 favorite. If LT gets free they win... Tomorrow I'm going to go into recruiting in D1 football. The Blazers found another way to win last night in Washington. That is 6 in a row. Figure it out. 2/3 rds of their first games are on the road and THEY ARE WINNING! BR took over the game and have put them in the upper echelon of the league. Khalil is reportedly gone to St. Louis. A huge move for the Pads as they may be able to financially keep Jake. This story just doesn't end. Go Chargers!

Wack Wednesday

What you gonna do? One day the blame is on yourself and the next it is on under performing others. The Bolt's AJ Smith did the tough thing in firing Marty after a 2 loss season. Then he convinces the owner that Norv is the real deal, which he apparently is not. Fact is they are capable but not great. The Blazers go into NY and whup on the Knicks. 5 in a row...only the Lakers are better right now. Can Army finally beat Navy? Can UCLA finally beat USC? Have a wack Wednesday!

Tuesday ramblings

Shout out to the mighty Titans of West Salem as they won their 1st game 44-30...cool stuff. Lots of talk about the demise of the Bolts in the Trib today. The GM is himself taking the heat rather than pointing fingers. Try that Padres...K Towers blames everyone BUT himself. What a loser!!! Speaking of the Pads they did not offer anything to last decade's closer Trevor Hoffman. Now that is a good move. The BSBCS has it's own negative barf bag that exits to another league's playoff structure. TT, Okla, and Texas ends up in a 3 way tie...whoever ends up higher in the Nov. 30 BSBCS poll goes to the playoff. Even though Texas beat Okla they finished lower than Okla in the poll and Okla moves on. What? CH Poll: 1. Oklahoma 2. Florida 3. Texas 4. USC 5. Boise St. 6. Notre Dame...kidding it is Utah Short week for the Chargers as they try again. This time it is the Raiders. Believe it or not, they could still catch the Broncos. Long shot but possible...only in the NFL. The Blazers ar...

Just the facts mam

As I told you before, why are the Bolts favored over the Falcons? The books are wrong on this one. They have hung on to the line that the Chargers are a talented, well stocked group of players. They may be, but they can't get it done on the field. Let's look at the facts. Their offensive line is turrible. LT can't find a hint of light through the line. Now part of that is he is (oh, oh) over the hill. Sorry Bolts' fans but it is true. He goes down easier than any back in the league. Catch the dialog of John Madden and he says it like it is mam...he doesn't go hard anymore. With the lack of running game the opponent pins back their ears and gives a bull rush at the QB. And this QB Rivers has no mobility. There in lies the problem with how the O is put together. The players on this level are so big and talented you must have all holes filled. I felt that last year LT was through. It is a hell of job. Your body can take only so much beating and he has ...

The Beaver Blowout

You gotta earn it. Whatever that was the OSU Beavers brought to the table it sure resembled the biggest turkey I have ever seen. Their defensive line was shattered by the mammoth Dux of Orygun. A record give of 65 points poisoned what could have been. Thank goodness the offense had spunk or this could have been a laugher like all of the WSU games this season. Now back to the real world. The Beavs are much better than they showed...and they still have a glimmer of a hope if UCLA upsets USC...they would still go to the Rose. But more likely NOT! Good shot at the Vegas or Sun Bowl. Now the Dux. What an awesome game plan and Bellotti is a pure genius this season. He actually is using no. 5 QB starter! I am happy for them as they will come down to SD in the Holiday Bowl. Good bye Charlie...not a fan and he needs to get back somewhere...anywhere but South Bend. Still bewildered by the Bolts favored over Atlanta. Just can't see that happening, but it is the NFL... Going to th...
