And the unrest in the dictator led countries in the Middle East ....continues...places that I have just barely heard of...like Bahrain ...where the protesting goes on lethally...but where our 5th fleet resides...and the strife carries over, almost in every country...to Ghadafy and Libya ...and the tales that are told are very scary, indeed...tip of it all for us, was in Egypt ...can't imagine any US reporter wanting to be there...and yet, we just watch...and wait...I guess you can only be suppressed so long...and if you don't have a democracy, this is imminent... The Aztecs are in the Air Force arena this am...the Cadets will try to control the tempo and keep the game in the 40's and 50's...it's the thing with the undermanned service academies...both in football and basketball...don't blame 'em, that's what I'd do...a MAJOR TEST... My take on the NBA at the mid term...it is such a loooooong season...I digress... the East ...3 teams are standing above the rest... Miami , Boston , and Chicago ...the Heat for obvious reasons, the Celts for their depth, and the Bulls for their PG...mild hoorahs for Atlanta and Orlando, but they don't figure.... the West ...just no dominant team here... San Antonio and Los Angeles (L) have the best records...BUT...both have severe deficiencies to pull off the crown...the Spurs and the Lakers are old...the Mavs play no D, New Orleans has no depth, the Blazers are sooooo injured....by the way, Coach Nate of PDX has done a marvelous job keeping his team in the mix, and should be coach of the mid term.... The shuffling has already begun for the Big Dance , you know the D-1 playoffs for hoops...that mysterious phenomena missing in football...and as I have mentioned way too much, the east coast scribes lurve the Big East...and there is talk in inviting 11 of their teams to the 6...

I keep writing about it...the Lakers continue their downward spiral...hey, I know they still have the good record...BUT...it is deceiving...the loss last night to the Cavs ...yes, the turrible Cavs, just continues to show the vulnerability of them...this is a broken record...the PG and volatile Artest are hurting this team...big time...sorry Mam, just the facts...on the bright side, Kobe and Gasol are still the best, and, Odom is having his best year ever...all correctable with a proper trade... Shepherd University improved to 11-13 on the season with a convincing win over Seton Hall...sure, and you thought I only talked about the west coast... SDS in a hard fought win over New Mexico ...at the Aztecs...on the surface it appeared to be a ho hummer...but, NM was in a must win situation and did not go away...it happens in this time of the season....and over at USD , the cellar dwellers knocked off the top team, St. Mary's ...go figure, but it was much needed... Bright, ...

My initial take on the new 2011 version of the Padres ...not good...the strength of the '10 version is gone....that team was one game out of the predicted playoffs by this blogger... Adrian Gonzalez, Miguel Tejada, David Eckstein, Yorvit Torrealba , and their top two starting pitchers...filled in with lesser bodies...throw in a huge campaign of season tix push before all the changes...what I called blind faith...well, I'm not a happy guy...last year I said they'd be in the playoffs...this year competing with the DBacks , FOR LAST...sorry mam, just the facts... Finally, the bad weather has hit this area...5 days of rain is the prediction...really is going to cut into my golf...Friday and Monday may be off...rats...but do need to practice my putting...just awful... We are in the holding mode....due to the lack of east coast respect of the Mountain West, SDS and BYU are pretty much as high as they are going to get...regardless to what happens to the "it" teams ranked above 'em...Kansas and Ohio St. both tumbled, but the MWC will not get any of their due favors, 'er votes... Was in LA for the weekend....just a block from Venice Beach...nice weather and nice time... SDS over UNLV in Vegas...huge... The Magic over the Lakers...duh... Need You Now wins the Grammy for best of song...who votes?  I like this outcome, tho... Is Lady Gaga really Madonna redux? Where were Britney, Lilo, and Paris?
