Starting this home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks , it appeared the Padres were backing up and playing like yesteryear...but whoa...here comes mighty little David Eckstein smashing a line drive over the LF's head...and after an intentional walk to AGonzo , a walk off tater by newly inserted clean up hitter, Chase Headley ...coupled with some great relief pitching by Mujica , Russell (*) , and Bell ...a great finish... The NBA cranks up their second season today...my favs.... Cavs , Lakers , Magic (ugly), and Hawks (yup)... The Shepard team won their match yesterday, with most of the glory going to the good doctor... It's a bicycle day here and we are going all over the city...and one of the stops will be at the Point Loma Fish House ... halibut sands that are the best...

And the worst news possible for the Blazers ... Brandon Roy has knee surgery and is out....it is said for the 1st series...surgery and only miss a couple of weeks?  I don't think so...their opponent?  the Phoenix Suns...believe it or not, with or without BRoy, PDX has a chance...slight one have you...can you stomach all the hype on the Thunder's (Sonics) Durant ?  It is the east coast pundits that rave about him...he's good, but doesn't ever, ever, finish a game off...in due time, but not now...and, he will be part of a shellacking put to them by the Lakers ... My pre-season prognostication on the Padres appears to be bogus...they aren't hitting the ball and the pitching can only hold up for so long... Kyle Blanks is not a number 4 hitter behind AGonzo ...they have to move Chase to that spot, move Venable to 5th and then whatever... Hitting the links with my son...pre-cursor to the big Pomona Golf Tourney early next month...

I am definitely into free speech...and you have your right to say what you believe...and you are going to have your followers...and they may not believe in what you do...AND... Mike Huckabee has alienated a whole bunch of people...the former governor of Arkansas was in the midst of answering some questions about the gays and lesbians...and he is not trying to sugar coat his true feelings about that group of people's ability to father (mother), or serve as parents, to children...and he suggests that gays or lesbians being legally married is no better than giving rights to incest or polygamy...he says that they are disingenuous. ..he has made no excuses for his comments and knows he leads the christian movement in that area...follow me and I'll take you to the promise land...but you must follow only my path...it is inconceivable to me that this line of thinking is the consensus anymore...have you not any gay or lesbian friends, Mike?  Good luck republicans as you waddle throug...

So how did you like your Idol ?  Elvis tribute, coached by the present day wacko, Adam Lambert...he actually did real well...and he sings himself this eve...don't normally watch the results show, but will tonight... Your best?  In order... Lee, Crystal, Screamer ... Your DWTS ...how in the world does your Kate G keep dancing?  I have to admit, she disgusts me more than any reality show person ever, EVER ... and she is on a bunch of shows...Today, ET, etc...makes my stomach turn... Your Blazers ...have just to win their last and they are the 6th seed...cool stuff, especially not saddled with the Lakers... Your Tiger ...it is pretty much off...I'm talking his marriage...duh... Your Padres ...can they show their fire power in the 2nd game of the home stand? Your stocks. ..why doesn't anyone talk about this?  have you checked yours yet?  Your hump day , get over it ...

The Padres opening day?  Absolutely the best ever... EVER ...19 hits and 17 runs...in a marvelous 17-2 thumping of the Atlanta Braves...led by most everybody in the lineup, the 5 rbi's by 6'6" prospect Kyle Blanks , was the best... 43,000 fans left the park happy, encouraged, and enthused in this package... A number of changes around the park...tix are lowered, beer and food prices lowered, security look like security (new uniforms), the SD chicken came out of hiding, on and on... The Blazers ...in a must win situation hosting the Thunder (Supersonics) ...each team tied for a slot 6 thru 8...the loser gets the task of playing the Lakers in the 1st round in the playoffs...and, PDX without BRoy...a recipe that figures a win for OCity...BUT, the Blazers get a humongous effort from Marcus Camby and WIN...by the way, the steal trade of the year getting MC for Blake and Outlaw...if this team were on the east coast it would be a huge item...OK, I waffle on PDX too much... ...

It's such a groovy day here in San Diego ...you know it never rains in Southern California....well, it is...cats and dogs...and it's OPENING DAY ... Tip off is 3:35 and Kevin Correa is on tap...I can't tell you how much this weather reminds me of Woodstock...where's the slip and slide, dude? Mess with my mind and you'll get a far out reply...we got to get on base to steal one ... The local channel KUSI is doing their broadcast from Petco and it is a blast...crying through the rain...rad The Masters ...funky day for Tiger , but a far out one for the winner, Lefty. ..have to dig all the hype for him...it was the best...congrats to him as he won there for the 3rd time... Blue Monday ?  Naw, a groovy one ...

The final day of this version of the Masters is a craps shoot...did I say crap or craps?  For the last 11 years or so, the winner comes out of the last pair...so if that holds true it's either Lefty or the Englishmen Lee ...I figure it's an even money chance for Phil, and a 3-1 for Westwood...Tiger is at 5-1, AK at 10-1, and Freddy at 20-1...the field at 50-1....go ahead and bet... Like a poker game where no one blinks, the Pads outlasted the Rockies in 14 innings...yup, 14...anyway we can get 'em... Opening day for us is in the afternoon tomorrow...talk about a bloody mary start up...regardless, we are there!  Correa gets the start as CY is back hurt again...now that's the craps... Tragedy in Poland as they lost their Prez to a plane crash...as they were going to the commemoration of the lives lost during WW2...as portrayed by the movie we just watched, "Defiance"... Have I said this before?...man, those greens are fast ...
