OK, you basketball purists...what did you think of last night's NBA playoff game? ...right... something stunk to high heavens ...curious substitutions...curious lack of time outs...curious ref calls...it disgusts me so much that the game got to that point...insomuch, that I am through watching and writing about this series... I don't like pro rassling...and I don't like what the NBA is feeding us ...reminds me of when I was a youth, watching the final game between the Lakers and the Celtics...and the LA coach pulled Wilt Chamberlain for the better part of the 4th quarter...sat him from then on... in the very curious loss to Boston... phony bologna ...there you go...you want my input, you got it...and now...I don't care to discuss it... I will talk about real things...like the US Open ...what a difficult track they are in at Merion ...some monster par 3's...like 247 yards...ouch, that is like one of my drives!...these cats are shooting some hybrids and long iron...

and stupid...very STUPID! ...go figure the NBA...in a world where there are fewer and fewer quality coaches...and even fewer quality teams... the Brooklyn Nets did the unthinkable ...and outright silly... SILLY! ...hired a bloke that just retired from playing...that has never coached prior, obviously...it was the hardest thing to do...put into words what you are used to doing physically...if he is successful, then chalk it up to unbelievable great assistant coaches...there are guys out there who have paid their dues and are ready to be "the guy"... Jason Kidd ...ha ha.. this is the biggest joke of all time ...just wait until Coach Pop turns him inside and out...and a lot of other coaching guys will do the same... The Pads swept the mighty Braves! ...what?...the 3rd great start for the pitching staff...this time the unpredictable Volquez ...who can look like a million bucks one time, and a fake 3 spot another...this time it was the former...striking out 9...very cool stu...

BOOM! ... Oh my ...what an onslaught of points laid on the hapless Heat last night...as it was raining threes...over and over...by the Spurs ...credit the great game plan of Pop ...in their way of defending the duo of James/Wade...backing off and letting them take the outside shot...no penetration...and the zippy ball movement of SA...and then... the terrific shooting...Neal and Green in particular ...in a 36 point (really?) smash...OK, let's not get carried away...as Miami has yet to get beat back to back ... BUT ...get this...they will...and be down 3-1...yup, take it to the bank... King who?... YIKES! ... the Pads won again against the upper tier of teams...the Braves...who arguably, are as tough as the Cards... P Cashner was tough again...went 8...and get this...our embattled mop up crew got it done!... Thatcher and Gregorson struck out the side in the 9th...and we did just enough offensively to get 'er done... Headley actually hit a HR...and the bad news... Gyorko ...

The last 2 games of the Pads were way too similar... big leads going into the 9th...and we blew 'em ...luckily last night we had a 5 point cushion...here's the deal...our closer is on the disabled list...so we have been using our setup pitcher as THE GUY ...well, he didn't have it on Sunday...and last night we went with a former starter...and he got lit up bad...4 straight smashes...and 3 runs given up...here's my beef... Mgr Buddy Black stayed with him way, way , way too long...after the 2nd batter he should have been replaced...that's what the Giant's Bochy would have done....and quite frankly, most of the good ones would have done... if you lose, do it doing the right way... On the other hand, we ARE SCORING RUNS!. ..and are putting ourselves in position to be a better than average team...yup, it is true... Logan Forsythe came back up due to the injury to Gyorko ...had a great game, including a massive HR...shoot we scored 7 runs...and...once we have...

I have made mention of this before... the best putter in all of golf is a lady ...from Vegas...well, from South Korea...do they play golf in the North?...and she just so happens to be a winner, too...like two down...when it comes to majors...and NOBODY is talking about it...you see, the scribes want an American to win like this...fact is, In-bee Park , is the gal...22 years of age...now she calls herself Inbee...OK, she won in OT over Kat Mathews in yesterday's major... one stroke better than the US's hope, Morgan Pressell ...story line for her...just got married...played well for the first time forever...anyway, back to the real story...Inbee swings very similarly to a lady star of the past, Nancy Lopez...slow back swing that can't be real...can it?...but, my oh my, can she putt...and WIN! ...2 down, 2 to go...don't forget about her... Speaking of formidable... the Heat coming off a loss...I mean c'mon...when they get their backs to the wall, they respond lik...

My good friend Andy had the Belmont ...and it was the hoss I had for the Derby, er, my longshot... Palace Malice ...here's the deal...how can one trainer have 5 horses in a race and not couple them?...seems a bit much...and, as usual, I am all around the winner...but not cashing in...such is the life of a handicapper...er, hack at racing forms... Seems like if you say something off the wall, it comes back to bite you... the Pads were on the national baseball broadcast last eve...and, of course, the announcers brought back up the classless comments of turrible C Nick Hundley about his fellow Pad, and catcher, Yasmani Grandal ...who has spent his time off for roids...the game...SD won!...as the fellow that they were trying like the dickens to drop to AAA, hit yet another HR...Kyle Blanks...eegads, what am I missing here?...what do I see that the management doesn't?... we have a formidable 4-5-6...in Quentin, Gyorko, and BLANKS ...the last game of the series today is a nooner....
