Top Ten

Image
My top ten for the week: 1. Ichiro sidelined for 15 days due to a bleeding ulcer. Pundits are blaming the WBC? What? Lefty goes to Texas and takes on the Shell to get ready for the Masters and shoots 5 over in the 1st round...nice prep FIGJAM... Tatoo you gets ousted from Idol and tells Simon she doesn't care what he thinks. Simon goes ballistic and says it makes no difference how she performs on the " save me song "... Stephen Strasburg gets to pitch at Petco and throws 6 innings of shut out ball...hit 99 for tops and is the clear leader for the 1st pick in the MLB draft... OSU beats UTEP for the ...wait, I don't know...title, in a best of 3 match. What the he-- is this all about? Did our president make this up for his bro-in law or what? The FIPJAM crew: Madonna, Britney, Lindsay, and Paris ...still make news to the paparazzi and we are waiting for the train wreck... The LPGA tour is in the desert and no longer has any of the big 4 tv systems following them. ...

Well...

I have tried to understand the Padres dilemma. I have tried to put a positive spin on all the news that has come out. I have read the Sports Illustrated honest evaluation of the upcoming season. I have heard how Jake Peavy will stay in San Diego if the Pads stay in contention. I have witnessed how the pitching problems grow rather than stabilize or improve. I have listened to the season ticket sellers find a way to drop the ball on getting their customers back. Hey, and this list just goes on and on... Chris Young in his last tune up for the regular season got pummeled by the Mariners...Our No. 3 guy is injured, our No. 4 and 5 have been shelled...the bullpen hasn't fared much better...our best hitter in the Cactus got send down to the AAA club...I'm talking Kyle Blanks...I told you to watch how the management dealt with him... I have listened to the MLB network have a field day on the Pads...and the NL West in general...oh yea...but I have heard of the new approach by hitt...

Catch a falling star

Image
So I have a new theme song for the Padres, "Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket"...there is some thoughts out there that the Pads should sign recently dropped Gary Sheffield (Detroit) for the bargain basement price of $400,000. But...isn't there a youth movement going on? Would he take over for Headley in LF? Then move Chase to 3B and trade Kooz? Naw it ain't gonna happen. To continue... "Crazy" How else could you describe the actions of Tatoo You's departure on American Idol last night? "I Had The Time Of My Life" Tiger Woods fantastic final round finish at Bay Hill. "Moon River" The whale Diego surfaces only at night in the San Diego Bay. "Our House" You don't beat the Trailblazers at home. "Footloose" Cheryl Burke... "Over The Rainbow" Ernie Kent's future at Orygun... "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" John Calipari to the great state of Kentucky... ...

What Money Crunch?

Image
So Kentucky hoops team isn't winning enough after 2 seasons with their coach...they fire him because he apparently doesn't work hard enough(?)...they then hire John Calipari out of Memphis for, get this, $35 mill for 8 seasons! So you send your kid to Kentucky and are upset that they up the tuition to $42 grand a year...then they do this... First of all, what D-1 coach lasts 8 seasons at one school? Secondly, how does anyone justify that type of $? Thirdly, just what is the cost per win? Think about that. Go to your favorite school and figure out what the cost per win is... The Padres just signed a package deal of Justin Verlander, Miguel Cabrera, and Gary Sheffield from Detroit. It is the 1st move of John Moorad and puts Kooz and Giles on the block. Due to the $ crunch it will benefit the club immediately...April Fool Well on the real side of things, Borders is off 54%, Phoenix housing is down 35%, GM and Ford are on all-time lows, all of LV is way down, ...yet when we ...

It's So You

With the suspension of the New Mexico State's mascot I got to thinking about just why this would make national news. Inappropriate fighting and taunting seems to permeate the business of the mascot. I wanted to get a closer look at the job so I called and got a hold of the legendary "Billy Bean" of Starbucks...He emphasized that this by no means represents his company but his personal views only... Crazy Horse (CH): Thanks for your time Billy. Just how did you get this gig? Billy Bean (BB): My pleasure dude. It was this or a real job. I was in line for a shoe guy at Macy's but they said I had to cut my hair. I almost cut my hair... CH: So you're telling me that in your suit your hair is long? Who cares? BB: Right dude. Got to keep it as long as I can. If the establishment makes me cut it, I just can't dig it...I gotta be myself. CH: Starbucks didn't care? BB: Said I had to have a net...so I came in to the interview with it braided and it w...

I Bow Down

With my back on the mend I had a full day to watch...the best ever in golf. There are those who say Hogan, Middlecoff, Palmer, Nicklaus, and on and on...fact is the number of good players is much greater now. I digress, Tiger Woods was 5 back going into the last round at Bay Hill, a course that was playing as difficult as a major...his dramatic birdie putt on the last hole won it for him...his sand saves and putting were 2nd to no one...ever! The final 4 is set...upset mode Mich.St., Villanova, Connecticut, and UNC...my last pick still in the hunt... SDS got snubbed for the NCAA but was a No. 1 seed in the NIT and has backed it all up with a final 4 appearance tomorrow in NYC. As the opening day approaches , the Padres got another pitching bad news day...their No. 3 Baek hurt his arm and is day to day...ouch! Let's see...2 out of 5 is???? It's only going to be in the 70's this week...

Between the Lines

Image
I did purchase the dvd on Between the Lines. Fascinating and a must see if you can get a copy of it... The Big East has two in with Villanova and Connecticut as strong reps...now it's Louisville's turn...my picks, UNC and Oklahoma, face off... Tiger just treaded waves to back into 2nd place at Bay Hill...O'Hare is like 5 up and is in breeze mode...if you can do it with Tiger in the same group...there is a thunder and lightning delay right now...if you have ever been there you'd know how scary that is... The Padres...beat SF 11-10...maybe the way of the future...CYoung got lit up and that's the no. 2 guy...Headley is on fire... The Blazers in a walk over Memphis that was another must win...the Jazz up big against the Sun, blew it and then came back and won in OT...really hurts the Sun... I see the upstart Dux beat the Beavers...how can a group come together that quickly? Finally, we watched Mama Mia...what on earth was Meryl Streep thinking?
