CRAZY HORSE

So the playoffs are upon us...the buzz around here is all Bolts ...but there are real, real good teams left... Saints , Colts , Cowboys are the elite in my way of thinking... Let's look at the Bolts / Jets ...NY has to run to win...SD must pass the ball...too much Philip Rivers and it is 11 + win for the Chargers ... The Pads finally dealt with Kooz ...well, they really did, the dealt him away!  Sent him to the A's for a former Pad that they just traded last year... Scotty Hairston ...the move allows Chase Headley to 3B and Kyle Blanks to LF...I think it's good...but odd the way it turned out... The weather people around here say it's supposed to rain Monday-Friday...like a lot...so I'm not planning golf for that time...take that Orygun , I'm sure you're laughing your umbrella toting heads off... I'm growing my beard back...I miss it... Marsh , not so much... But it's a man's world ... Right honey ?  

As NBC continues to shuffle it's lineup for late night, the major players have been left to trade barbs... Jay Leno , the winner, and Conan , the loser...bicker back and forth as the move will be made right after the Winter Olympics has completed...here's the latest... Leno moves back to his original position and Conan has opted to say sayonara...your favorite comedienne, Rosie O has popped off saying it should be Leno that goes...enuff for me to say otherwise...not a fan of Rosie ... I am one of those who liked Jay at 10...it's hard for me to stay up 'til 11:35...and when I do, Conan is not funny...so I watch Letterman ...I suppose the clear winner here... The Haiti rubble is devastating and the US is doing yeoman service to help out that country... We had date night yesterday and saw the movie " Nine " ...a couple of things...the price of the tix are so steep now, there was just us in the theater...our own private screening...the movie itself was ...

Strange, bizarre, unbelievable, exhausting, frustrating, confusing...case of football coach Lane Kiffin...now of the USC Trojans...and now the rest of the story... As just another 20 something assistant college football coach, he was wallowing about in the USC scheme of getting the best players out of the LA area, and winning almost everything in sight...just so happens, he was a major player...a blue chip college recruiter...and as you know, you get the best players, you become the best coach...anyhoo....he progresses to being the offensive coordinator there and becomes the hot young coaching commodity when any job pops up...and, as you know, they always do...well....it seems the 1st job that emerges...is in the NFL! Off he goes to the Oakland Raiders...becomes the youngest head coach ever...then gets fired after but one year...Al Davis...oops Jumps to the heralded Tennessee Vols in an absolute great job...promises them the world and trash talks the new league he's in...does an ad...

I have this memory about what it was like in my childhood...I always thought I lived in THEIR world...it was a myopic of observations and I guess growing up properties...nevertheless, it seemed I was always taking up space and living in that rental form of pre-life...I grew up living at a Native American (Indian for this story) boarding school...both of my parents worked there and we lived in a staff house...in fact, most of the workers there did the same...a community if you will...there were just a few kids my age so I spent most of my growing time an observer...I'd get on my bike and scour the school and watch...in THEIR world...I remember... following the carpenter who talked to himself and laughed at what he said... going to the basketball games that Coach Bartlett fathered and felt it was our team...listening to the band leader, Vinnie Matt, who belted out his trumpet like no other...going to my dad's print shop and watch him lay type, backwards and upside down, quickly.....

Back in '98 there was this incredible home run race between Sammy Sosa of the Cubs, and Mark McGwire of the Cards...highlighted by McGwire hitting 70 of 'em...as time went by, allegations of steroid and human growth supplements emerged and none of the stuff seemed to be real...the 'roids were rampant in the league and standing at the top were the 2 battling it out for the HR crown...it took years of persuasion for them (and all the others) to admit that was what they were using...bizarre as all of those who were, looked much, much larger...(some golfers, too?)...info was leaked and some of the stars actually went in front of the biggest liars in America, Congress...liars facing liars...what a joke...I digress...anyway, Mark McGwire has been hired as a hitting coach back with the Cards...and suddenly, he comes forth and admits he, in fact, did take steroids and other performance enhancers... Coincidence?

Finding Bin Laden...searching every opening, every bat cave, using every abled man, using the CIA, paying off Taliban informants, plugging in 50,000 troops in, and now....using the Drone in a 24 hour surveillance scheme to find the dreaded killer...of course, that is if he is alive...a notion that I think is more relevant...I think he was bombed to death in our 1st surge...but, we can't find his remains...so the beat goes on... Is it just me, or is the NFL officiating real bad?...Thank goodness there is replay which gets the calls right...we have the imagery and are using it... Now if the MLB would get into this century and do the same... Back to the NFL...what a wild one in the desert...I thought the Pack should have gone for 2 when they scored with just a little less than 2 minutes to go...NE just a shell of what they've been in the past...the Jets come here to play the Bolts and it's all good...pundits raving about the Cowboys...their match with the Viks a beaut...did yo...

So some of my favorite TV shows return this week...and just in the nick of time...as I was getting real bored with what was out there...already begun is the Bachelor...pretty much a mindless voyeur way of dealing with a young pilot trying to find his woman forever and ever...just so happens it rarely does, but it makes for great TV... Big Love...back to the awesome bigamist, with his 3 wives, and his insatiable desire to make more money...not that the Mormons think that way, too...we follow the path that this guy travels and it can only happen on HBO...no conservative right would allow this on their free tv... American Idol...amazes me that there is so much talent out there undiscovered...what are talent scouts doing? Now, there have been some bogus winners in the past, but generally, it is a springboard for some great kids to get their chance for stardom...by the way, if you haven't drug up Kristy Lee Cook off of itunes, do so...she is a big talent, that needs another shot...poin...
