You Need To Leave, Sir!

I thought I had seen it all...as Marsh and I were at one of our favorite watering holes in the GQ...you know, "Happy Hour!"...at Las Hadas...great Mexi-type food and drinks...equally so are the owners and servers...well...

We ran into an elderly gentleman who had some wonderful tales of past yore...he was from SF...had been coming to SD for over 50 years...and talked about the GQ prior to it being resurrected...very interesting and well told...of course, we pumped him for more info...as he was involved in politics of years past...Marsh asked about the CNN series, "The Sixties"...said he refrained from watching it, as he was at the hotel the night when RFK was assassinated...and brought back haunting memories...his wife was working on the campaign and that's why he was there...I could go on...

Anyway, the conversation worked it's way to the Freedom Riders...of course, brought on again by my lurvly wife...and she asked if there were any similarities to that of the blocked busses that were being done by people outside of SD and LA...right now?...I asked if he thought that they were religiously backed...he said, no, they were racially motivated...hmmm...

Unbeknownst to us, the bloke next to us, was EAVESDROPPING!...and had enough apparently...and bellowed out..."You need to leave sir"...what?...our newly found friend excused himself...and we did the stare down with the bloke...he obviously was one of the blockaders, er, at least a sympathizer...rather than get in any more of a confrontation, we paid up and left...I told him I hoped he had a good life...he said he already had one...and well, it brought up questions...

When do you overstep your bounds with conversations?...and when do you have the right to ask someone to leave as your own rights are being desecrated?...and how do you have any rights to ask anyone to leave an establishment, when it's NOT YOURS?...

By the way, Marsh went in to somewhat apologize for the bloke's comments to the elderly gentleman...as he went in to settle up his bill...he said to turn the other cheek...that is the way to deal with blokes like that...

Oh yea, as we were departing...and I was giving the bloke the stink eye...my arm swung and hit a railing on the place next to Las Hadas....immediately turned black and blue...and now...you have THE STORY!...

The Stock Market

I know I speak in bewilderment when I mention the Stock Market...yet I blindly invest in it...mostly through the guises of the money market, small caps, large caps, and some, yes, a few real stocks...like Starbucks, a few airlines, and Coke and my biggee, Apple...ha ha...I am a blithering idiot in this field...but leave it there, so I can be an investor and make big bucks...fact is... those who make the big $ are those who run the whole thing...and we are talking millions...where else you going to put your money?...used to be in the banks...ha ha...or in bonds...equally non-profitbable...

There are those who buy land, and or property and go that way...of course, you have to have up front capital to do so...and lordy, there are a bunch of blokes who do that around here...

The latest drop in numbers in the Nasdaq, Dow, and S&P are all related to the fears of the European Market...what?...if not that, it's the Japan Market, or the...are we not dependent on our own?...all very confusing...I have to think that the managers of these companies are not losing any $...

The stage is set for the World Cup Champ...Germany versus Argentina...have to admit the match between Arg and the Netherlands was awful....nil-nil...went to a set of tie breaker kicks...Daffy Duck...

For  all the notoriety of the Pad's pitching staff...one who has been pounded over and over is Eric Stults...and he was so last eve in the rubber game of the Rockies/SD series...gave up 3 HR's...I would blame that on the cracker box stadium in Rockie land, but he does so everywhere he goes...time to shut him down with some mysterious GM disease...er, injury...like tightness of the shoulder or something like that...15 day DL...happens all the time...don't flinch...as the Pads head to LA to face Clayton Kershaw...I see a 2 hitter in our works...like US getting two...

Played like a golfer at times yesterday...84...and drove the ball well...used the Nike...and it popped...so much better than the Callaway...more whip in the shaft and a better sound off the face of the club...I knew better than to get the Callaway...I'm in a T on Saturday...

Pods

Morning kids...not sure about the terminology...but the latest of the wonders of nature...off of the coast of La Jolla...just a tad bit north of us...no not the Great Whites...but pods of...get this...ANCHOVY fish...million of them...that swim together...to give the allusion of like oil...in the water...and are migrating up the coast...so cool...

The Pads, not the pods...did their thang last eve and got beat by the Rockies...2-1...geez, I think that most of the scores that they are in are one run losses or wins...I declare that they just may be the most boring team in beisbol...oh well, another try today...before heading to LA...

Not so enamored with the game of soccer...but Germany did a number on the host team Brazil...scoring 7 times...which is like a hundred in the US version of football...I did watch it...mostly due to me being home and there was a bit of interest...stomp...

OK, I did get the CSNY '74...listened to a few songs...and got it thru iTunes...which automatically downloads to my Apple TV...which I need to use more often...am really looking forward to the DVD of that concert....a bit spendy, by the way...the cheapest way is by what I did...look into it if you are a groupie like I am...

The bloke who got bit by the shark off the coast of LA...a repercussion of another fool who had the shark on his rod...as he was fishing it...what?...why would you be trying to get one of them creatures while there are swimmers and surfers right close by?...or, why would you be swimming or surfing right next to some bloke fishing?...

The NBA free agent thing is getting close to closure...the big ticket?...LeBron, Melo, Bosh, and Love...after that expect the dominoes to fall...no clue where they top 4 are going...probably depends on James...er, definitely does...

Your favorite old Repub candidate, Sarah Palin, is calling for the impeachment of Prez O...ah yes...she is a wonderful human being...and we are so lucky that McCain DID NOT win a bit back...yet, like the K fam, does have an audience...maybe the same people...ha ha...

MLB can be stupid...as they use the outcome of their all star game as the deciding factor for the home team advantage in the World Series...so there will be some credence to the game...c'mon...let it be for what it is...very stupid...

The Padre announcing team continues to be negative toward MLB's use of the replay system to check whether or not the umpire's decisions are right...they say it takes too long...this time, MLB is right...hey boyz, would you rather have the manager run on the field and kick the bag, swear at the guy in blue, and make a fool of himself...which always takes a lot more time...the call stays and the games suffers...get real and get the call right...

Hate to say this, but...it will be days before there are boots on the ground between Israel and the Palestinians...don't see a peaceful solution...and there will be lives that are lost...many...so sad...

You see where a Frontier Airlines pilot bought pizza for all his passengers while they were on an awful delay on the ground?...really cool...

Electrifying

Not a fan of sitting in the stands as there is LIGHTNING all around you...er, me...it was like that for at least 4 innings in the Pads game at Colorado last eve...I think it took starting P, Ian Kennedy, to push the umpires to delay they game as the storm blew over...which makes me wonder...if someone is injured, who pays?...MLB?...or the umpires in charge?...or are you, as the consumer, on your own?...is there a hidden statement somewhere on your ticket stub?...

Oh yea, the Pads won...and solidified their 3rd place in the west...hmmm...it's a weird thing, this SD team...the pitching is dang good...and if they get ANY hitting at all, they get the W's...today, their all star, Tyson Ross, goes...which makes him ineligible to pitch in the AS game...he'll go...be honored, but not play...does that mean that Huston Street will take his place?...no provisions for that...so, it is possible that no Pad will see the playing field in the game...

The British Open is coming up...the course looks tough...and the bounces and breaks on it, make for some very hard prognosticating...I just have no idea...there is a rumor that I may be blocked from putting an entry in this pool...this can't be real, can it?...as much as I have said that an oldy but goody usually wins, I have this feeling that a young in' will break through...hmmm...

Big Brother...why is the big guy going after the mother?...a clash of personalities, I guess...or she sees right through him...as we, the viewer, do too...and he senses it...doesn't look like any thing will save her...she will be out the door...mindless...er, brainless...

The border situation...as Prez O heads that way...to Texas...and Gov Perry, refused to shake his hand...c'mon now, you fool...you know Perry, ran for the Repub side of Prez...unsuccessfully...a poor campaign...to say the least...we will pour more $ trying to fix this...very tough call...

CSNY 1974...the disc is out...and I am pondering streaming it, or buying it at like Target...or wherever it is available...I want the DVD version, too...taped and filmed at a concert back in '74...very, very cool...rad...groovy...dig it...boss...

Monday

Nothing like a great start to the week...you know, great weather, golf scheduled, and 2 concerts...Cher and Boz (again)...hope Marsh doesn't scare him away this time...long story...and my hair to be done tomorrow...what does that mean?...shhh...it's a secret...the staff wants platinum blonde...

The All Stars...MLB style...named last nite...and every team gets at least one bloke honored...the rub is this...if in doubt, the manager of the league has the final say...and this time around...the NL guy is the St Louis Card...and he picked our one and only...who should have been the closer, Huston Street...he picked his own closer in lieu...and then went with one of our starters, Tyson Ross...there are other situations like this...for other teams...snubs...

The Pads did flounder against the Giant's SD killer, Timmy Lincicum...and he beat us again, for like the hundredth time...at least we got a hit or two...and lost the series 2-1....ho hum...watch closely as it is trade time in the league and we will be busy...

It took until almost the All Star break, but my fantasy baseball team is now in ...first place...I have a real good one...and will be battling it out with one other team for the rest of the year...so says me...

An oldy but a goody won in West Virginny in the PGA...Argentinian Angel Cabrera...$1.1million...not a bad payoff, huh...and that country is still in the hunt in soccer, too...

Watched a bit of the Miley spectacle...2 hours of whatever...she doesn't have enough songs to fill it up...and was boring...real so...

2 weeks until the opening of Del Mar...won't be there for opening day...but will find a way prior to the PS and Orygun trips...pick 6 here I come...

Wheels Off

Sport will do this to you...when the wheels come off...there is not much you can do...call it momentum, or lack of it...and you get run over, er, by...and up losing...when the winning part was looking strong...witness...

In the French Open...where American Kevin Stadler, yup, the Walrus's kid...started the last round up by 4...and in cruise control...and the wheels came off...yet, still had a chance on the last hole for a playoff....and really, with a bird, a win...had a 25 footer...and left it 3 feet short...what's the motto?...never leave a birdie short...as the OT member, Graeme McDowell, went to get warmed up...and you guessed it...Stadler choked the shorty...well now...he gave up 9 shots to the eventual winner...so, you could emphasize the last putt, but the stone was cast...

SF beats the Pads...SD proves to be invincible...what?...when they are leading after 7...undefeated...until yesterday...up 3-2 in the 9th...and Huston Street gave up a dinger to the enormous OF Morse...by the way, he acted like a buffoon rounding the bases...and in the bottom of the inning, the Pads had a runner on 3rd with one out...to still get the win...and failed...as the wheels came off...oh yea, the SF pitcher Romo, acted as poorly as Morse...jackasses....as he strutted and yelled at the crowd...whatever...like they won the WS...it's SD boys....get real...

And with those actions I am officially pulling for the Bums...like LA...and hope those two idiots get their due...I'll follow it...I'm like that...

It's down to the Netherlands, Argentina, Germany, and the host, Brazil...for the crown of the World Cup...I mention this cuz...I haven't watch a minute since the US lost...seems like it is always nil-nil...booooring....says me...

Whatever happened to California Chrome?...you know, the horse who was in line to get the Triple Crown...until the wheels fell off...out to pasture to be a free wheeling horse again...rest and rehab, so they say...I say, way cool...

And so in case you haven't got enough of Miley...she's got a special on TV tonite...like one of the major stations...talk about wheels falling off...they must have had to beep a lot of what she does and shows...think that Janet Jackson was tame in comparison...ha ha...like the Biebs, gets a ton of air time for an unbelievable lack of talent...oops, too much commentary...

On the other hand...another episode of Big Bro is on...now this is good, wholesome fun...totally free of controversy...and people treating people nicely...wait...all of this is not true...but still better than the aforementioned person in the paragraph above...

Geez, I missed a whole gaggle of putts yesterday...I think someone kept moving the hole...as I was striking the ball...

I think I'm right about this...but every one of the Pad's teams in the system lost yesterday...eegads, I fear this was just a bad day...and not an indicator of any things to come...what wheels?...
