Orygun stuff

The Civil War is here! 4 pm for the biggest game of the century for each team. Got to favor the Beavs but it should be great fun. The PDX Trailblazers disposed of New Orleans last night in Portland. I keep telling you but this is a team on the rise. They are so deep and play hard the entire game. If there is an achilles heal to it...Greg Oden has to develop greater upper body strength. He will and when that happens this is a championship type of group. Really. They are so enjoyable to watch. Not Orygun stuff. USD hoops team went east and got whupped by 35 at Miami...it is supposed to be a great squad...SDS is playing in Alaska and doing well against very mediocre teams...the Bolts host the Falcons tomorrow eve and are favored by 5...what's up with that? 74* at the beach in the forecast...

Black Friday Beauties

The stories that were the underdogs, the where did they come from stuff. The sales of sales... 1. The Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays. They were the surprise of MLB with their small salary and big wins. Getting to the World Series was one mean feat. 2. AK. With the injury to Tiger Anthony Kim came from the pack and emerged as a major player in the PGA. He continued on to help the USA win the Ryder Cup. 3. Kerry Collins and the Tennessee Titans. Talk about an oldie but goodie. Collins comes back and leads the Titans to a one loss season so far in the NFL. 4. Sarah Palin. OMG! John McCain announces his running mate and the people went ...what? The impact was greater immediately and probably hurt in the long run, but what a story. 5. Raven's Pass upsetting Curlin in the Breeder's Cup. And yes I am sitting on this one and made big bucks at Santa Anita. 6. Brooke Burke. The winner of DTWS and nobody could have predicted it. And her runner up, Warren Sapp, could have shared...

TOY

My 1st annual turkey of the year awards (TOY). Because I am in a fowl mood...gobble, gobble...I'm feeling negative...gobble, gobble...and it's raining...gobble, gobble...and I had to cancel my golf game... With no particular order (DWTS): 1. UDub. The mighty Huskies of Washington. They have no wins, they fired their coach, they lost to Wazzou, they once were the top dawgs... 2. Michelle Wie. She alienated herself from the LPGA and tried to bounce into the PGA and goes nowhere. She finally gets in a position to compete for the top spot in a ladies event and forgets to sign her scorecard and is dq'd. 3. Detroit Lions. OMG the NFL's feast for all. Winless and pathetic. 4. Oklahoma City (Supersonics) Thunder. Close vote here with the Clips and Wiz...but the OCST fired PJ and then gets whupped by 30 or 40 or something like that. Good move OC. 5. Dick Cheney. I know he's hiding in a bunker somewhere but couldn't he emerge long enough to at least say "I like McCai...

The Lions on Thanksgiving

So the latest issue by the pundits is the fact that the Detroit Lions play anywhere on Thanksgiving day as they are so turrible. Well how do you think the turkeys feel? The one day of the year they give their life for the betterment (?) of so many in this country. Couldn't we just categorically change this to a cow, lamb, chicken, or hog? Why the turkey? Or maybe let's all go out and harpoon a salmon or tuna and plot those on the huge platter that all the good people would wow in amazement. Imagine the fish gravy that grandma, and only grandma, could muster up in such a way that would cover up the smashed potatoes. If you really think of it we are supposed to be appeasing the white folk and the red folk (Indians?) as friends. So why not the fish? So yes, the NFL has decided their turkey of choice has to be the Lions. This year it is the Titans who get to feast on them. OK, OK, it is time to move this tradition on and find another. How about the Patriots? I can think...

BSBCS Monday

The Bolts lost another tearjerker at the buzzer lat night to the Colts. It is a pattern for them to get it close and then fall apart just enough to get the L. However, the D is much better and if there is time...well you know. I fear that Norv may go today...just a hunch. Lots of hullabaloo about the upcoming Civil War. Dux can be real spoilers with a win. Everyone knows if the Beavs win they are off to the Rose Bowl against the highly over-rated Nittany Lions. The Dux would get to the Holiday Bowl (SD) and play Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, or Missouri. A tough game with any of those options. Gotta love the hype on this one. The CH poll. 1. Oklahoma 2. Florida 3. Texas 4. USC 5. Utah 6. Boise State SDS fired Long...after his huge win against UNLV! Where is Jake Peavy?

Rosier Bowl?

The mighty Beavs pulled out a heart stopper in Arizona, without their QB and ace running back. Their placekicker missed the tieing extra point with only 4 + minutes to go in the game, but got another opportunity to win the game with his fg. Good as the game clock ran out. And now the Dux... As you know I am sky high on Oklahoma and bam! They pulverized TT and almost got a lock on the BSBCS championship game. SDS beat UNLV...OMG the Rebels can't beat the Aztecs, and the Aztecs are turrible. Ole Miss did a number on LSU...told you it would be close. The Rebs are better than I thought. WSU beat UW in the (Cr) apple bowl. It was cool to see the fans so into this one. Reminded me of many Civil War games that meant only superiority in their state. Blazers got beat up in the valley of the Suns. Shaq over Oden for now. Go Chargers...but the Colts?
