Updates!

How many times do you see this?...UPDATES are needed for your computer...phone...watch...so, I do them...'they' say it is for increased security...and or to make the device operate more smoothly...and so on...I have no idea if it does...the updating...on the computer, it does take a lot longer than the other two...yea, did one last eve...that took over an hour...for the life of moi, I can't tell a bit of difference...perhaps, slower...even...

Add to that...the iPad...which takes so many of those UPDATES...that by the time I get to them...the iPad is so out of date, it is almost not usable...have the mini, which is somewhat larger...bigger...ah, in square cm's than the iPhone plus...I dunno, it is what I write on when on vacay...don't get me started on battery life...

Very interesting...the plight of the Bums...as they are getting hammered at home by the very surprising Giants of SF...most, if not all, of the experts...pundits...know-it-alls (fake word)...analysts...sports writers...well, baseball ones...say that LA is the best team in MLB...hmmm, really?...and over on the other coast, the very right one...in Florida...the mighty Padres got game 1 vs them Marlins...one at a time, kids...one at a time...

In the last 10 years or so...schools, colleges, universities, high schools...have taken a weird turn...totally sports induced...changing league structures...in colleges, they have gone absurd...when it comes to figuring who should be in the champ series of whatever...the BIG conferences get the advantage...the latest?...Oklahoma and Texas want to move to the highly heralded SEC...will there be a day, that the football will be different than all other sports?...just one elite conference...let's see...Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio St, USC, Georgia, Oklahoma, and one to be named...Oregon?...Michigan?...Penn St?...

The Olympics in Japan have begun...is this the truth?...that 100 out of 600 athletes we sent over, have NO VACCINATIONS?....WTH?...c'mon, folks...if you can't fly into Hawaii without the shots, how on earth can you go to Japan?...man, even the Republicans are saying to get them...now...

Who doesn't like a quick burger for lunch?...it's almost un-American...in my youth, there was this place called Bob's...terrific...they folded and one had to search...where do you go?...In-n out?...Mickey D's?...Wendy's?...Jack in the Box?...Carls' Jr?...what say you?...

Masks...do you or don't you?...we did our final shop for the RV yesterday at Von's (Safeway other states)...I would estimate that 50% were wearing them...does that mean, they are NOT vaccinated?...or, don't trust others?...

National Spoonerism Day

Aw, sure this could be a throwback Thursday...but, when you run across a thing like this...you (I) can't pass on it...National Spoonerism Day...say what?...I know what a spoon is...the thang you eat your cereal with...a spooner?...name for a town in Wisconsin...or a lake in Nevada...a mountain pass in that same state...shoot, was a name for a rock band...there was even a movie named this, circa 2009...now, it is used for a type of a balance board...really...

BUT...no, not what the day is all about...it's credited to this 19 century dude, English reverend Archibald Spooner...where in his sermons...he would switch consonants of 2 words...probably like what donny q did, quite by accident in some of his revivals...like a master plan, would come out as a plaster man...heating and plumbing would come out as pleating and humming...three cheers for our dear old queen comes out as three cheers for our queer old dean...does this qualify?...when being announced at a pep rally, our principal , whose name was Pickens, got introduced as prickens...guess not a spoonerism...

Speaking of plumbing...George and Gracie were at it again...the names were changed to protect the innocent...this might be a tad bit long, but has some humor to it...as they were finishing up the din din cleaning process...the kitchen faucet quit working...no agua...damn it all, the stack they live in must have shut the water off, unbeknownst to G and G...she calls the upstairs lady...she has water...SO, the issue was their own...George figures out that the head of the faucet MUST be the culprit...unscrews it...Gracie puts it in a tub of SLR (?)...they give it a few hours to clean...just what does this damn thing screw into?...they go to bed, thinking that they would have to call the home warranty to fix the bloody thang...$75 and time...

Alas, prior to sleeping G and G thought through the sit more...she recalls a tube with a weight on it...EUREKA!...that's it he thinks...off they bed they go...as she pushes the cord up and he catches it...and screws the head on...and, VOILA!...it worketh...imagine Gracie down in the crevice of the workings...and George trying to grab the cord...Abbott & Costello?...the Two Stooges?...Lucy and Rickey?...probably the latter...

Back when the condos were built...there were mechanisms to allow the windows to be cleaned...set up on the top of the buildings...now, many are found to be a bit unsafe...so, they have to be redone...is this like infrastructure?...anyhoo, here is an example of what's needed to change what's there at a close by condo...

No hoops is worse than bad hoops...well, let's hang on for Olympic's hoops...and their creative officiating...hey, does CP III's nemesis, Scott Foster (0-13 wins) do them?...

Over in DC...the Repubs are still trying to protect trump...as the task force...er, committee, to get to the bottom of the Capitol siege...are doing their best to sabotage it...why?....they, too, were running like the others...just ask VP Pence what he thought...maybe, that's the only person they need to call as a witness...

Infrastructure...why would the Repubs block getting our 1930's roads and bridges redone?...perhaps, a few more crumblings and lives lost may convince them otherwise...

What a foo the WSU football coach is...he refuses to go to the Pac 12 meeting...as he won't get vaccinated...he will meet via Zoom...for moi, an indication of what he is all about...get out of Pullman ASAP players...

My crypto is now $95.37...still a negative investment...duh...it's like my investment in Ford...about even Steven...wait, I am less than that...

Back to the kitchen...how often do you change non-stick pans?...'some' say they will last like 3-5 years...depending on usage...I just ordered and received...T Fal...from Amazon...we shall see...

The mighty Pads won game 1 at Hotlanta...then were leading in the nite cap...rain washed it out...now, in Miami for a 4 spot...they have a cover, right?...SF beat LA again...dang...need them to split...

The Bucks!

The lack of complexity in the NBA is now so so simple...it is more of a in your face play...BUT...the difference in the 6th and final game in this series...was the pattern play (after time outs) of the champs, the Milwaukee Bucks...the semblance of order of the 2nd place team, the Phoenix Suns, was highly missing...they play way too much one on one...even less pick and roll than most 'coached' NBA teams use...which are hard hard shots...

The MVP was without a doubt, Giannis Antetokounmpo, the multi talented big from the Bucks...50 points in the closing game...when the Milwaukee Coach Bud, got drilled repeatedly from the press...I wondered why?...as he made more adjustments than the other guy...nevertheless, as one of my coaches from my past...would say...'scoreboard'...indeed...

Changing up so much...school is around the corner...and the powers to be, want the masks worn by the students...hmmm...some are saying the teachers and administrators, too...let's start with inoculating the people...sometimes, we make things so difficult, rather than do the obvious...

Seriously, JCC about the Bezos launch and recovery...way too much coverage of this...

Race to Space

The time is, to get into space...like OUTER SPACE...the rich and daring blokes...and gals...that want to see it for themselves...what it's truly like...cuz, they gots so much money...and they have done everything else man or woman can do...build a rocket ship and blast up up and away...last week it was Richard Branson...today it is Jeff Bezos and compadries...OK, one could say there may be a better way to spend their 'hard earned' cash...humanity is dying off like beyond compare...yes, it's their scratch...and it must be itched in their own way...

Bully on them, and I am mildly interested...like watching a car race...OK, Chief Donny, that may be a bad comparison...JCC, in reality...but, dang it all, I led with it...

The 6th and perhaps, telling NBA playoff game is tonight...as the Bucks host the Suns...a win by Milwaukee and the series and champ trophy is theirs...which I kinda think will happen...are people watching these games?...seems like it is not a high priority...cuz they are low market teams...the Horse will watch...not for the hoops, but the drama...

BTW, no post yesterday, as I awakened too late...had an early tee time...and bam...had to run...sticky hot out at Singing Hills, I might add...

Finally, we are preparing for the Oregon trip via Cosmo...checking the routes and the weather...give the lil wurman all the props for the organization...have had to make some alterations, as some destination spots have problems...today is a Costco run for some prepackaged foods...it is a job to do this right...and we ALWAYS forget something...even though, we have lists to deal with...

PANIC at the Ball Yard

The scene...a MLB game in DC...seemingly rushed due to the oncoming lightning storm...as the mighty Padres were cruising to an 8-4 lead over the hometown Senators...and SUDDENLY, there was a mad dash of patrons...like fans...to the exits...well, off the field level...the announcers were confused as there was no lightning nor thunder...what was happening?...GUN SHOTS!...

PANIC at the Ball Yard!!!

Where to go?...it's not like mass shootings are new to this country...both dugouts welcomed people to exit through their safety spots...SCARY!...after the mass uncertainty was somewhat solved...the DC Police said it was just outside of the park...like, RIGHT outside...3 people were shot...DRIVE BY?...still uncertain...they did say that they could exit thru the outfield gates...unfortunately, we see too many of these things...

The game was suspended...duh...as part of a DH this am...

Over in Phoenix, a much different thang...as the Bucks went into the Zona land and got the W...the first to break the home field advantage...NBA...now lead the series, 3-2...gosh, the game itself is brutal...one on one...pick and roll...stand and shoot...missing is the beauty of the patterns...the flow is GONE!...seriously, anyone could coach this play...it is a JOKE!...

Looks like I am only talking sport...well, sort of...the Open...Looie has got to win this...he is the steady hand and has been in so many of these spots...Jordan finished round 3 choking the last 2 holes and is 3 back...as of this am, 4 back now...as he is going the wrong way...Brooks made a charge, ending at -8...tied with Looie, is Morikawa...at -11...and so it goes...

This is an absolute FOOL!...the guv of Florida, DeSantis...as the state is currently 4 times the national average of new Covid cases!...and his slogan is 'Don't Fauci my Florida'...yes, kids, this is the bloke who leads trump for the new Republican leadership...oh my...

Think we might have a problem in LA County?...the Sheriff Dept says they will NOT enforce the new mask mandate indoors, brought on by the political leaders...their comment was 'it is not backed by science'...who is the leader?...

Finally, the video of Tatis, Machado, and Myers...opening up the gate and letting the people escape via the Padre dugout...tells you a bit more about these guys...and fellow human beings....
